Me at the local Living History Show as an 1884 Colonel of the 3rd regiment, US Army Cavalry.  Full Dress.  Original glasses, belt buckle and many original parts on helmet.  May do a Major General next year.  Same boots as will go with my Imperial Crew, Gunner, TIE Pilot, etc.

Cool! Shame I'm only a Warrant Officer tho....I don't think a plain black shirt would be quite as cool!

I like that. Maybe we can iron on numbers on the back and form an IOC-Soccer-Team for fun one day at a convention?

Thanks to the tireless work of Jason Lawless with the SCG, our trading cards have a spiffy new look. I am so ridiculously honored to the the first one to showcase the new design with my Imperial Line Officer costume.

In some ways I envy our friends in armor, though. It's really hard not smiling at kids doing cute things.

This last weekend I won a cosplay contest as Captain Beckett at a local con, and decided I wanted some better pictures in this character. So I met up with Izzy at our Tatooine Wall we made for South Valley Squad, and we got to work! The costume is not screen accurate yet, more fairly it is "Inspired by", but I really like this uniform and wanted to troop this character regardless!

    2. "Join the Empire. We have epic capes". (I like this one, because it's looks like a propaganda photo).

    3. That photo is a proof that you can comfortable sit with the cape

Wanted to share some pics of the ladies of the Star Garrison and Kessel Base from Comicpalooza last weekend

Someone had an idea to do a group photo of "pinup style" costumes- started out as officers but as you can see also included some Imperial and Rebel variations, and even got Younglings involved.

Me with my rebel scum husband (NOT Rebel Legion approved- work in progress!)

With a couple of good friends who have actual officer costumes in work, so getting some use out of their accessories in the interim

I've got a Staff Officer build, but I'm the only 501st member within 200 km (120 miles) of here, so quite often it's just me and a handler who's working on his first costume.  If I do find myself with no other troopers around, I've found three fun roles to play, depending on my audience and my mood.

First is my "Advance Reconnaissance" duty... This one's especially fun when I'm caught having a bite to eat, or watching the local seaplanes or some such "touristy" thing.  I'll simply explain that I'm performing a routine inspection and evaluation on this system, before the Emperor commits troops to the task.  I'll follow that up with something to get people engaged, such as "You haven't seen any... Rebels... have you?" or "This <gesture at food> is wonderful, and very filling.  This will definitely keep our troops well fed.  Can I place an order for 150,000?  To go?"

Second is my "Recruiting Duties"... if someone expresses an interest in costuming in general, and the 501st in specific, I'll switch over to "Really?  I'm actually here to bolster our ranks in this system!  Do you have any experience operating AT-STs?  No?  How about Z-74 Speeder Bikes?  Can you program a Gonk droid?  Have you ever considered becoming a Stormtrooper?"

Finally, especially if there's kids who are a bit wary or concerned, I approach within about 3 metres of them or so, and (in that "little kid whispering but not really" voice), confess that I've gotten lost from my squad, and ask if the child if they or their parents have seen any stormtroopers.  I did this to one kid, and his older sister immediately pointed down the street and said she'd seen Darth Vader "over there".  Knowing there was no Vader around, I tried to look worried, looking for Vader, and I overheard her tell her brother "He's a bad guy!  We're Rebels, like Jyn and K2!  Shhh!"

Hope that helps give some ideas for if you're caught without your squad.

Some of the best advice I was ever given for costuming overly serious/slightly intimidating characters.
"Head up, shoulders back, walk like you've just been sent to kill Captain America."

It worked very well for Kylo, but I found it carried over pretty nicely for officers as well (if not better. Apparently I have a somewhat intense face if I make an attempt)

The other piece of advice I can give is develop your officer's character! If you know who they are, what their likes and dislikes are, and how they behave, you'll have a way easier time and people get really into it. My First Order officer is really freaked out by Kylo. I've had small children try to fight him for me. It's adorable and they love it.

At my officer troops there are a few ways to play it. If I am with a bunch of armored characters,  I either lead the patrol and they follow or the patrol protects me in the middle. Either way on patrol I take a somewhat arrogant attitude.

In my experience it's the hard armor guys that get most of the attention. I mostly exhibit my "officer" role by directing the civilians where to stand for pictures

For anyone agonizing too much about being a friendly officer, remember Rogue One gave us officers on Jedha who smiled, faffed about with their friends, and even played dice if I remember it right. Also, the  first Solo teaser gave us this friendly fellow.

I did the same thing with my ammo boxes so that they could hold stuff for me. Perfect for a license, CC, and some cash...also, a coin, could for a coin. Don't want to be stuck without a coin

I made my belt boxes from HVAC sheet metal. I made them functional with a hinge and a cabinet closure. I created a brushed finish on the exterior using a belt sander. I've carried Garrison business cards, Garrison trading cards, legion coins, money, credit cards, and keys. They've been great!
