sharkbait got a reaction from DarthFunk83 in Question on His and Hers Costumes
The only one we've positively identified as being seen (on screen, I'm not sure if there are any comic featuring them) was a woman, therefore, the CRL follows her specific uniform.  While it's entirely possible there were male Transport Security Officers, we have not yet identified them/seen them, and therefore there's no approved male version at this time.

I can't help but laugh a little- as a woman, so many of our costumes are male-dominated/portrayed as male only, so now there's a female-only one (that's not a specific named female character).  The tables have turned!  I admit it's easier to go that way because pants are generally considered unisex (and armor hides everything).  All in fun!

The alternative would be find an Officer you like, as that would pair well nicely for his/her costuming- the pairing would make sense.  Maybe that guy in the recruitment center.  Or, just make your own version, unofficially.

Someone on the Imperial Officer Cosplay group on Facebook caught this one- Magnoli's Falcon boots that are factory seconds are currently half off!  Great deal if anyone is in need of boots- they do good quality boots, so I'd guess their seconds aren't too bad (kind of like TK Boots used to be)!  (I can't comment for certain, as I've never seen their regular or seconds in person).  Limited sizes available.

Castle and Candy Cane are the big ones for sure- about as close as not the Marriott or Hilton, reasonable prices, and will let you book this far out.  Castle was my backup, but I got the Marriott for all the days I wanted (coming in a day early, leaving the day after).  That hotel block system was wonky as all get out, though. Oof.  I waited in that queue for only five minutes, but it was already bass-ackwards, book for just the con dates, email to be put on a wait list for any additional days... Thankfully I did, but it was odd.  I waited 38 minutes in the ticket queue and just about had a nervous breakdown.

The block opened one hour after tickets did, so no idea if there's any of those currently available, but people will cancel over time as things come up.  The Castle is a good backup in general, as is the Candy Cane.

I got my four day ticket!  My first Celebration!  I manged to get the Marriott for my whole trip- we'll be coming in Wednesday afternoon/evening and departing on Monday morning/early afternoon.  (Edit: I had been on the wait list for non-con days at the Marriott, but that came through thankfully!)

I have custom officer boots from Hessen, I highly recommend them.  Great quality, a good price for what you get, and comfortable.  At 20'', custom is likley going to be your only option.

Officer boots tend to be the hardest part- unless you're just willing to sell out about as much for them as you did the entire rest of the uniform.

That's what I was going to suggest- it would also put them lined up, which would make the collar line up.  So not worth sending it back all the way to China for something that will take five minutes with a seam ripper, a needle and some thread.  You sew them in by hand.  Basic sewing is just a loop method- hold it in place, put threaded needle though the opening and fabric, repeat from underneath, and then keep doing that a few times until secure.  Repeat on other pieces.

I believe I heard that there's an exception for active-duty military members on the one troop a year to stay active requirement- I don't recall the details, but I do recall hearing that basically if you miss the one troop a year due to being active-duty military, then they can/will override your inactive status.  But if you go off active duty, then I believe it reverts back to once per year as normal.  I'd as your CO, they'd know or know who to contact to find out.

As to joining, I'd say probably join your home Garrison.  If you have your stuff with you, you're generally welcome at other Garrisons' territories.  I like to give them a heads up that you'll be in their territory and would like to join in on one of their troops, as a courtesy.

As far as good writing, the original Thrawn trilogy.  As to enjoyment I had while reading them, A. C. Crispin's Han Solo trilogy and the Young Jedi Knights series by Kevin J. Anderson.  The new Thrawn book was very good, the second was good, but not great, looking forward to reading the third.

Jeff beat me to it, but ROTJ didn't have Staff Officers, just green Line ones.  Warrant Officers are black, but have a different tunic (just slightly, no code cylinder pockets), one version wears jack boots and straight leg pants, the other two versions wear jodpurs and officer boots.  None have a rank bar, all three have belt boxes (vertical), two wear gauntlet gloves, one wears wrist-length with three lines.

In my opinion, you shouldn't be able to go wrong with Hessans.  I think they're a quality product and provided you measure right (measure twice just in case!), then you should be great.  I'm very happy with my customs.

Buy once, cry once.  The custom options that people use (Hessen, Mux) are RELATIVELY cheap too, since they are more for costumes and not actual riding/military.  When I was looking for boots originally, I found a lot of custom stuff, at like $800-$1400.  ~$300 is not bad at all, especially when they last you.
