Mike "pe512" Medeiros, requesting an advisor anywhere (I'm in the Austin, Texas area, but am happy with online advice), for help with an Imperial Bridge Crew costume.
I'm just starting out, a bit overwhelmed, and want to make good decisions as I begin my build.

Blair "knockpoint" Reese requesting an advisor in the Layton, Utah, United States of America area for help with an imperial bridge crew costume.
Knockpoint, I'm in Utah. PM inbound -
Hawk's thread suffers from the photobucket image issues. Does anyone else have patterns and/or a guide we can use?

Tristan, I've spoken with the DL over PM who has sided with you. Thank you again for your time and consideration with my submission. As I previously stated, please retract my submission at this time. Thank you.

That does make sense, thank you for the quick response. I do think we differ on the definition of "embellishment" or at least how I interpret that word when applied to the boots. I would like to challenge or get a second opinion, how do I go about doing that?
Let me make clear that I am in no way upset or angry over your decision. My boots are what they are and my foot size is what it is. Makes things just a bit more complicated for things like levels 2 and 3 with all my costumes.
If after the challenge the decision stands that the boots are unpassable, then yes, I will retract my submission as I can't afford new boots for the foreseeable future.
Thank you again for your time.

Hi Kirk,
I have now reviewed your costume, and unfortunately I can't pass it just yet.
I do like your jumpsuit. It does have a nice fitted look to it, and the pockets appear to be in the correct proportion and position.
You Hat is also looks good with the necessary stitching.
The belt fits the bill and the buckle and snap looks good.
Your boots, unfortunately, have got a v-shaped cut on the outside at the top backed with elastic.
This v-shape shouldn't really be there.
Also the buckles shouldn't be shiny.
I know this must be a disappointment, and fixing this means a new pair of boots, but I would encourage you to replace your boots as the rest of your costume certainly seems to meet the required standard.
If you need any further clarification, please let me know.-Tristan
Tristan, first, thank you for taking the time for the review. Your position must be very time consuming, so thank you for your service.
I have a question and a comment. I would like some further clarification on the boots. I've looked through the CRL and I can't find anything for the level 2 requirements that would prohibit the V-shaped cut at the top of the boot. Granted, I know these would never pass level 3 as they are not jack boots. However, based on the current wording of the CRL and my interpretation of it, these boots should be passable for level 2 and no further. Any clarification would be appreciated.
Finally, should the decision on the boots be final, I would ask that my submission be retracted. I don't have the money to buy new boots and finding jack boots in size 13 was too difficult, hence choosing the boots I did.

The jumpsuit fits you well. Good luck. The only thing they may ask you to do is paint the buckles on your boots. Other than that, you look great.
Hey thanks, I would hope it fits will since it's hand sewn. -

We had to buy my wife a pair of motorcycle boots and cut the straps off of them - and still had to have them stretched in the calves.
Only other option we had was to go full custom.I had to do the same thing since I have size 13 feet. I bought motorcycle boots from Boot Barn and cut the bottom strap off. You won't get level 2 or 3 with them but you can still get approved. Good luck!

So I'm in the process of finishing my TIE reserve/Bridge Crew build right now. I've just about finished the modified coverall conversion and I learned how to sew so I could do the conversion. I was also going to sew my own hat but another Garrison mate helped me out with that (long story). Anyways, what I'm getting at is as far as I can tell, don't stress the fabric matching the hat and flightsuit. I know mine won't and from all the research I've done, I don't think they do have to match. You'll obviously want the color to be as close as you can.
As for coveralls, I got mine for Christmas as a gift, but here is a link you can use. Make sure to get 2 pairs.

Hope this helps.

I'll throw one more option your way - make your own. I'm in the process of making my jumpsuit for the same costumes you are. Another way to save money and get it tailored just right the first time.

Have you gone to the Ohio Garrison's website and checked with them there? You might get a quicker response that way.
