What exactly does this character do in Battlefront? Might be easier to place Detachment-wise.

The Officer class in Battlefront II is a support unit that plants turrets or shields, throws flash bangs, and increases the overall efficiency of the troops around him with buffs. Pretty much what you can expect from an officer in an MMO.

someone may have mentioned this already, but in regards to weapons or the blaster, all the classes come with the default blaster specific to the era and class.  The officer uses the star wars rebels style imperial officer blaster, so that may be the blaster used under optional.

I have already ordered 3D prints of the Blurrg 1120 and DC-17 blaster pistols for this reason.

  3. I had the day off, so of course I spent it trying to get the answer to this question about rank / affiliation. There is no definitive answer. The best I could come up with is a Senior Colonel, Imperial Army Intelligence. I don't know if the orange tiles were deliberately meant to be unique to Death Star officers, or if we just never see them outside the Death Star because of the story line. The reason I say Intelligence over Operations is the organization of the tiles on the rank bar. If the bar began with orange tiles it would be Ancillary (Research, Logistics, Engineering) but since it starts with red tiles it denotes Military Intelligence. The red tiles also make it Army, since if it were Navy intelligence the would be three blues then three orange with the rank of Senior Commodore. Most of this information comes from the new books and movies, and of course ANH.

According to The Force .net and their Star Wars Technical Commentaries, this officer is identified as a non-combat technical specialist such as a medic, engineer, or scientist. Their justification is the uniform layout itself. The black cap signifies their technical expertise over ordinary crew members. This information comes from older source material prior to the new movies and books.

And regarding the rank of the 3 red/3 amber: I have no idea :)

Is the person with the orange rank bar we see walking past Han, Luke, and Chewy the same person? They look different and have different rank plaques. Even Cassio Tagge, the immediate supervisor of Trech Molock has red buttons (like Trech's) as well. Sorry I'm playing Devil's Advocate here - just curious about anything to do with the Imperial Army.

  5. Out of curiosity, what makes you think this is an Imperial Army officer? I hope it is, but I was wondering where you got that information from. Also, what rank is that according to the rank bar? I don't see anything for the 3 red / 3 orange configuration. The presence of orange buttons makes me think this is a Death Star or Operations rank depending one which source you want to go with. I assume the red buttons before the orange buttons is significant.

  6. Heir to the Empire made a big deal of the concept that Imperial army troopers were the bulk of the army. After the cloning begins there is a reference that army troopers are fighting like stormtroopers. There is a raid with about 12 army troopers and about 4-6 stormtroopers if I recall correctly.

Yes, and we have a very good description of what those troops look like as well. In the original thread I laid out all the references with their sources if you want to check it out. I would love to do a CRL for these Troopers as well sometime down the road.

One interesting thing to note about the multiplayer officer, the officer has this rank on all of the maps except for the Death Star, where he has 3 red on top 3 blue.

I noticed in the promotional pictures he has 4 red, 4 blue (General), then on most maps he's 2 red, 2 blue (Lieutenant), but you're right - on the Death Star he gets promoted to Captain with 3 red over 3 blue. It's a subtle difference and I don't know why. Maybe he was supposed to have a side story line?

  8. I could be wrong, but as far as I know many costumes have multiple weapons options and they are not required for 501st approval. The LMO's might have a problem with it for some reason, but we'd certainly have a basis for an appeal. Nothing on the character model changes at all because of the weapons, and a variety of weapons is something good for the CRL to have anyway in my opinion.

  9. Oh sure, that's definitely

That's for MMORPG's where a character's armor and appearance can be changed with different armor, clothing, etc such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and Star Wars Galaxies. A character such as the BF2 Officer always looks the same regardless of level or equipment. The only thing that ever changes is the weapons. For example we have the Swamp Trooper from Star Wars Galaxies because no matter what you did he always had the same outward appearance. It never changed. But there this rule precludes someone from making a CRL of their own player character because those characters could have their appearance customized.

That Code disc almost looks like a notched CosplaySky disc.

More than likely it was. When EA was looking for armor to base their designs off of they got stuff from a bunch of different places. I had a friend working on that game who asked for pieces be sent to them. That's also how the officer wound up with a Snow Trooper chest and harness as opposed to a Veers / AT-AT Commander. They are great at what they do, but they're not die hard Star Wars fans who notice every little detail like we do.

  11. This is my proposed CRL originally posted in the Spec Ops forums under the Imperial Army sub-forum for the original trilogy Battlefront II Officer (link). Since this character falls into both detachments - the character is part of the Imperial Army but is also a junior officer - I think it's a good idea to post it here as well. Perhaps it'll be an dual-detachment CRL.

  12. As Ron said, I have no idea why Spec Ops wanted this CRL as it's the exact opposite of Spec Ops troopers, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm hoping at some point we form an Imperial Army detachment, but that's further down the road. I really do appreciate Spec Ops taking us in though.

I saw the patches the other day..got me super re-excited for this.

Yes, those are my patches sold through the Walt's Trooper Factory website and Facebook group. The design is by Juan Jose Matamoros bases on my CRL submissing pictures.

    Looks awesome!

I wish this was something as simple as adding extra parts onto the Line officer, but it looks like it's a whole new different suit.

Yeah, in Legends it's a whole different suit with a harness. I'll be working on the Battlefront II officer which will be closer to the Line Officer but with the Snow Trooper chest piece.

That artwork looks great. I like the (whiskey tango foxtrot ) battalion nice touch. Haha.

Thanks! We've been doing it for about a year for all sorts of stuff with Walt's Trooper Factory. Forecast calls for snow tomorrow. Hoping there will be some sunlight on Thursday to get this done.

  16. Those are a bunch of different units. From top left to bottom right you have an engineer, and army trooper, a combat engineer with explosive (aka a 'sapper'), an army trooper, an army officer, and an engineer standing next to an unknown unit. Honest, if you want to do this right, there's a bunch of different units within the Imperial Army. Lets start with the basic trooper, which is essentially an AT-ST Driver (who is an Imperial Army Crewman) with weapons and ammo pouches, and minus the telemetry unit on the helmet. After that we can get into the other units with armor and rigging. Just my opinion.

  17. I'm at the point where I have hundreds of images of Imperial Army Troopers or relevant information, so instead of posting them all here and in the 501st official forums, I've uploaded them to an Imgur album with notations and sources under each new one as they are uploaded. Any additional images will be uploaded to this same album. You can find it here or scroll through the linked album below. I just got about 40 new comics delivered to my house, and uploaded a few dozen new images of Imperial Army Troopers in action.

  18. In my opinion, eliminating costumes does no good for the Legion. Also, there are Legends sources that state the Imperial Army Troopers were used to augment the Legions, but I doubt FISD goes for that. I think, eventually, the Imperial Army will have to be its own detachment. I haven't had time to post more pictures (I'm away this weekend) but the comics I've bought last week show dozens of panels of army troopers and have filled in a number of information gaps.
