I talked to him yesterday, he says his shop is set up and he is back up and running, currently working on 2-4 coats. Hopefully now that his move is done he goes back to quick turn arounds.

Hoping the primary source for the coat improves now that he’s finished moving his business, but we should find another source or two.

From my understanding it’s the material that is tough to find, it’s a medium weight waterproof material, hard to find in olive drab, it’s why the coats are easier to find in black

Runs With Scissors replies that they are not doing R1/SOLO trenchcoat orders. So that didn’t pan out - somewhat unfortunate........

Looks like your source is it unless anyone else knows someone that is making the coat that we could contact?

Full coat, fur collar is removable so I can use it for a standard Line Officer as well as for Mimban

So I have another observation that I just came across.
Tell me if I'm crazy - but does it look like there is a built-up section of the armor behind the rank insignia?

I know this is Beckett - but again - as we have discussed previously - this is not Beckett's armor - it was taken from a dead Army Captain.

Any thoughts on how this detail could be incorporated? Maybe styrene?
I don't think PlasticArmsDealer's armor sculpt accounts for this.

The kit is from plastic arms dealer. I will need to trim about 6" from each side. Should this just be cut off or should  sections be cut from the center & the back flares reattached? What is the best method for attaching the shoulder straps? This is my first kit. All help is much appreciated.

I think we all will end up with a PAD kit - so I’m interested in the answer to these questions as well.

Oh - btw - how long was the turnaround?

I have just received my officers armor kit. Any tips on trimming & assembly? Also, are there any acceptable alternatives to the R1 style trench coat?

I don’t think so - it’s a pretty distinctive jacket - unless someone with an in to the SOLO wardrobe dept can ask if it was a found item ....... anyone know a guy or gal?

Did your trench-coat ever come in?
That I think is next on the list - last two big purchases are the Armor and the Trench-coat - and then its just waiting for everything to arrive so I can put it together.

I seem to remember reading elsewhere that the guy making the trench-coats was being a bit flaky on communication - hopefully it was just the holidays - would be a pity if that source didn't pan out :-/

BTW - my office absolutely smells like a mil-surp warehouse right now between the yugo backpack and the ammo pouch. Loving it.

I found this over on the community forums of Fantasy Flight Games (Legion, Armada, X-Wing etc.) that does a damn good job of explaining the mess that is Imperial Officer rank insignia continuity.

 

I don’t know if we can officially use it - but I plan to unofficially officially use it for my builds. Makes the most sense out of any rank chart that I’ve ever looked at.

 

No warrant officers on the chart though.

So I was browsing elsewhere on the forums and came across this thread that seems to say that the Solo and R1 Officers don’t have notches in the disc.

Is there a close up photo to justify the notch in the Mimban Officer cap - or was that taken from one of the other CRLs?

Nope, there is a shot posted above of the officer sitting behind the scenes, he’s just wearing high leather boots, no shin guards 

Fair enough.

That’s only that one officer though - maybe there will be more info or better pictures of everything in this art book when it comes out in April.

Question for the group:

Do the Mimban officers wear the trooper shin guards over their boots? I don’t think it’s ever seen - but I feel like it would make sense - seeing as they are wearing the chest armor.

For sure - I am a longtime member of The Royal Manticoran Navy - this would not be my first rodeo with Cosplaysky - got to the point where we had to contract with a separate company to make our uniforms because CPS was getting way to inconsistent. Personally Ive not had a problem with them - but I know to send them EVERY measurement I can possibly take - lol.

I do know that you only order the trousers and the tunic though. Ill order extra fabric and have Tiggwolf make me the cap.

Got the belt today from Anovos - and picked up the goggle from an etsy seller (who also does the chest armor apparently).

Thanks for the quick reply - this will be my first Star Wars cosplay - been meaning to do this for a while - but the standard Imperial Officer seemed so boring - the Mimban officers have much more "curb appeal" if that makes any sense - lol.

Sorry for the newbie question. I am looking to put a Mimban officer uniform (perhaps the Major - using information from this proposal) and after reading through the thread I had a question about the tunic.

Would the *New* Cosplaysky imperial officer uniform work for this - as the trousers, and tunic are largely hidden? The pants under the trenchcoat and the tunic under the chest armor.

Anovos is out for me because they don't have the olive uniforms - and I was looking at Magnolia - but they are expensive for something I'm going to distress and muddy up. Thoughts?
