  1. ORDERS ARE TAKEN IN RUNS OF 10-20. IF THE CHECKOUT SHOWS "SOLD OUT" THEN THE CURRENT RUN IS FULL. EMAIL JENNY@SEWINGJENNY.COM TO RECEIVE EMAIL UPDATES FOR FUTURE RUNS.

It seems it's more that the purchase link doesn't even show when not doing a run. So, just send an email, and get on the list.
  2. ...  If you could pick up the baton and approach one of the common cap suppliers who's cap is a 'little off' and work with them to improve the accuracy that'd be great.

Hmm, a delicate subject to address, eh?  I wouldn't know how to approach it, other than similar to my post above.  Because I'm appreciative of what they've offered, and done for everyone.  How not to sound ungrateful, ya know?   :)

  3. So, I've always been wondering about the Officer hats that have been being produced lately by the several fantastic individuals dedicating their time to make them for us.  I preface this post with that, because I absolutely do not want to detract from the amazing work that is done with them.  But, I'm just wondering if the size of the visors have been incorrect.

When I see images of Officers, bridge crew, reserve pilots...basically anyone who wears the Officer-styled hat, I've always taken note that the crown is always much wider than the visor.  When I see images of us in the 501st, I've always noticed that our visors appear to be the same width as the crown.  I sampled some movie reference images over the internet, and compared the sizing of them by using the attached greeblie in the photo.  Here's what I came up with:

    Greeblie%20size%20reference%20collage_zp

Now, I did the same with a reference photo of a random custom sewn cap I also grabbed from the internet.

    Greeblie%20size%20reference%20Custom%20m

Notice that the movie hats fit about three and 3/4 greeblies on the crown, while their visors are about two greeblies in width.  When compared to the custom hats, the crowns also fit about three and 3/4, but the visors fit about three greeblies.  A greeblie is about 1' in diameter.  I compared this to the custom hat I've purchased, and came with the same result...3 3/4' crown and 3 1/8" visor.

Is my assessment inaccurate, or perhaps should the patterns that are being used be adjusted to reflect my findings?  Or does it really not matter at all?  I'm just curious for my O/Cs sake...   :)

  4. Yeah, if they don't, I'm not going to stress over it.  I have no expectations of anything, since every item they've sold, they sold as pre-order with absolutely no definite timeline.  As far as I know, they've delivered on all projected timelines (I don't think they ever said anything besides Q1 2016 on the TK armor, which they met).  I've learned quickly, especially with my RunyaJade hat, that I'll get it once it's in a package at the door...and to not stress about it.  I was fortunate to be able to pick up that Launchbay hat, and get myself approved so I can start trooping.  The rest will be added in time.

I have the Star Trek 2009 Science Officer shirt (and undershirt), and the quality with that is good.  I believe with them knowing the strict guidelines that the 501st holds to the movie costumes, I would expect that Anovos would strive to meet that.  *shrug*

  5. Mike -- the caps you refer to, were they on the shelf and available to take home that day? If so I wonder what company produced them, if it wasn't Anovos.  Museum Replicas, maybe?  I'm not well versed in all the companies who have produced the official costume-type merch over the years.

Yes, they were on the shelf and ready...both Olive and Black.  There are no markings on them whatsoever, aside of the Disney pricetag.  When the Cast Members said they were Anovos, I figured they were the standard line.  Disney does sell other Officer hats, not in the Launchbay, and those are not approvable.  The Launchbay hats have been widely posted around the forums as acceptable, and mine was approved (I do have a RunyaJade on order however).  But as I said, I had to go through about 3 or so hats, to find one that the greeblie was centered properly.

I've seen others say that this hat resembles the Museum Replicas, so I imagine that is a possible source for these particular hats.

Kat, you did nail the presentation on the head, as I echoed much of your descriptions there to my wife when we were looking at them.  Some of those costumes looked disheveled.  I noted that the Stormtrooper's armor wasn't even velcroed nicely, looked like a 5 year old dressed 'em.  LOL.

  6. Gotcha...ok.

And yeah, I ordered my TIE helmet from there, and 6-10 weeks was written on the receipt.  That will put it at the end of June (same time my Shadow trooper is supposed to ship).  Here's to hoping...

  7. My interpretation of Kat's post is describing the items found at the Launchbay. Per the Disney Castmembers, all the costume items sold at Launchbay ARE Anovos. Now, I'm not saying that they cannot be incorrect, but I have to go with the source that they are Anovos items. *shrug*

If the post was not describing the Launchbay items, then I apologize for my misunderstanding.

  8. I disagree with their caps, as we bought three of them (2 black, and 1 olive).  Their greeblies are attached snugly with a philips head screw, so with a little effort, they can be moved.  What complaint I do have about the caps if you have to examine them closely, we found that many of the greeblies were off-center.  Now, considering they are attached with a philips screw, and they aren't off-center terribly, I believe they can be adjusted and corrected.

I wear a 7-3/8 hat, and their caps fit snuggly, but not too bad.  I was approved for my costume with the Launchbay cap as a Reserve Pilot.  I'm waiting to receive the Bridge Crew designation as well, but I think that request has slipped through the cracks.   ;)  I'll be recontacting soon to get that taken care of, so I can have the ID designation.

  9. I've seen women dressed as Han Solo in the Rebel Legion.  As long as they are staying true to the look of the character, I don't believe a GML would deny you.  Now, there may be some limitations, based on the canon of a particular event attended, where event organizers may request that face characters stay completely true to the character.  But how many of those events really occur?  :)

  10. So, while I'm waiting for my RJ Imperial hat to arrive, I figured I'd inquire about the greeblie.  First off, do her hats come with a greeblie on it already?  I'm guessing it doesn't, which is why I ordered a greeblie from Elvis.  I'm wondering, however, how do you go about attaching it to the hat?  I tried gluing a magnet to the greeblie, and tested it with a piece of thicker cloth, and the magnet doesn't have enough pull to hold on.

    Any recommendations?
