This has been discussed before. I knew it looked familiar, but couldn't figure why.

    Then I went looking.

    Here.

That code cylinder is known to be a one off wardrobe flub.

    For what it's worth.

Thanks for the input Jeff!  A little research by this trooper on the front end would have saved our GML team a lot of time!

So, between this posting and the GML posting, what is your end game here?  Are you making a case to change the CRL or to justify this type for one of your members?

I'm not sure if one grainy pic warrants the CRL addition.  We have entire costumes being held up do to poor or lack of quality photos for clearance.  Does it look like the Russian Dosimeter?  Maybe, but that seems to be the only one with that length of clip showing.

    To offer a brief summary:

The trooper submitted a Staff Officer: Black with the cylinder in question and I conditionally approved him provided he replaces the cylinder with the correct type per the CRL since everything else is in perfect order.  We aren't seeking any changes to the Staff Officer: Black CRL.  The cylinder submitted by the trooper does not qualify since it does not fit any CRL or pictorial references, plain and simple.

While discussing the cylinder internally, the Central Garrison GML team thinks that the photo provided offers compelling evidence to another type of code cylinder used by RoTJ Line Officers.  It may be a stretch with just one picture but at the end of the day, we can then say we've done our due diligence by this trooper.

I think the big item to look at is the clip.  That clip is way longer than what we usually see.  The standard clips don't go nearly that deep.

Jesse and I are in accord here.  We think this bears investigation and consideration to possibly revise the Line Officer CRL.

Being honest, I feel like there's a case to be made that there is a blue tip on that. It's certainly not clear that there is nothing on the top of the cylinder in that photo. But it's such a small photo it's hard to be certain.

Not only that, but I believe this cylinder also has a brass clip.  The photo's pretty grainy and the lighting sucks but if it shines light on a new code cylinder for Line Officers, this may be worth looking into.

Regardless, this person is submitting a Staff Officer: Black.  This photo should not be used as a reference for that costume.

  5. Hi everyone: I've been a GML of Central Garrison for about 6/7 months now.  I had an existing trooper send me a submission to have a Staff Officer added to his Legion profile.  I completely overlooked this on my first pass but this trooper insists that these code cylinders are okay per the CRL's listing for a cylinder with a silver clip and no blue top: 17270475_10211259763483050_523433356_n.j

Can I get a general consensus from everyone?

If they are good for basic approvable, then should the CRL be changed to reflect this?

I think some further clarification on the definition of rubber boots would be simple enough.

    Something like:

"Rubber boots that do not emulate the look and style of equestrian boots will not be allowed."

  7. I found these on Amazon and thought they'd be worth the $55 investment.  My Russian surplus boots aren't that great and are extremely tight on my legs.

My initial thoughts on these after receiving them are that they're amazing!  They're comfortable and easy for me to slip my legs into.  They have a nice shine on them and don't look anything like rubber boots even though that's what they're made of.

Here's the big question, the CRL for staff officers specifically state no rubber boots.  For clarification, does this mean no regular rubber boots you'd find at a local hardware store for $10 or does that include these too?  They look the part and isn't that the point?  I'm somewhat torn as a newly-minted GML and would appreciate thoughts from other members.

I got my bridge crew/ TIE pilot and scanning crew/AT AT driver out fits sized XL from them and they are great quality, perfect size and 501st approved by my GML. My transactions were flawless from them and they sat in customs longer then it took to actually ship. My hat also came from them and I just had to drill out the greeblie.

I probably should have explained why.  IIRC, Costume_bay is known as a bad seller on the FISD boards.  The history's a little murky but I think it's the same person that ran stormtrooper_shop and if it is, I wouldn't want to do any business with them.

  9. Hi Patrick, and welcome to the IOC!  Depending on which level you'd like your officer approved for, several of us wear the Soviet Boots since they can be easily modified for larger calves.

For the rank bar, I don't believe his ranks are at all accurate, but try looking at Etsy.  I was recently approved in mine using both of these items.

    Good luck and happy hunting!
