    Few things to note!

Lt Gorn's trench coat seems to be the same as the white/gray ISB trenchcoat.

He wears 2 belt boxes and something else on his right side that is not a belt box.

His badge looks like it uses the smaller OT style buttons!

Captain Tigo is wearing a lieutenant rank, wears FOUR belt boxes, and has two code cylandres in one pocket!

Corv seems to have that same thing on his belt that Gorn does.

Check out that sweet hat/coat hanger on the right!

One of these unnamed grays looks like he may be wearing straight pants with riding boots.

What confuses me is that at the ISB the 3 blue rank was called Lieutenant, but on the black uniform Captain, why? XD

Beside that it's great what we see in "Andor" so far and it makes me definitely want to upgrade my ISB Officer collection :D

Regarding the "coat hanger scene" - is he wearing a grey tunic with black jodhpurs or not?

    Hello officers!

So going back to February of 2018 there was discussion of updating the Staff Officer, (black) CRL to bring it in line with Rogue One and Solo.

I've been saying I wanted to get this done, but saying things doesn't do 'em.

Most of the work was done HERE by @Steven, with input from many many others.

I've gone through and tried to verify all aspects of that research using 4K screen captures from Star Wars Screen Caps of both Rogue One and Solo.

What I've come up with (in the next post) is a detailed draft CRL.  We have new photos ready for the parts (where needed) and I want to bring it to all of you for critique.

The thrust of this revamp, is two fold.

Firstly, to get R1/Solo costume parts as approvable.  Technically they already are, since references always trump CRLs.  But this will take any potential fight out of using these parts.

And secondly, to get Staff Officers right.  What we refer to as "Staff Officers" - prior to R1 and Solo - did not appear on screen.  In A New Hope, their uniforms weren't simply black versions of the Line Officer uniform.  Hence, we now have ANH Staff Officer as it's own CRL.

Staff Officers as we classified them didn't appear in ESB or RotJ either.  They were all Warrant Officer in RotJ or Navy Officer in ESB and RotJ.  But they didn't wear rank bars.

So now that we have a proper ANH CRL, I want the "old" CRL to encompass what we know - which excludes ANH.

This wil NOT affect anyone who is already approved with the Staff Officer (black) CRL.  They're grandfathered in.

It will affect approvals going forward.  And the last thing I want, is for someone who is close to submitting photos to get denied because we've updated the CRL.  So if this proposal carries the day, it will have a lengthy grace period and ample discussion with GMLs before being green lit.

So here is a rundown of the changes.

    • Hat disk no notch LVL 1
    • Tunic yoke dart language changed at LVL 2
    • Rank can be any config that isn't exclusive to ANH LVL 1
    • R1/Solo sized buttons LVL 2
    • Single bar only LVL 2
    • R1/Solo rank only LVL 3
    • Between 0 and 2 cylinders LVL 1
    • Silver toned clips LVL 2
    • Belt grooves LVL 3
    • Krennic strap on boots LVL 3
    • Belt boxes R1/Solo sized LVL 1 (optional)
    • Added short gloves (optional)
    • Only accepted blaster SE-14R (optional)
    • SR-14R holster (optional)

Now, blasters from comics can be added as references are brought forward.  However, it can't JUST be a reference.  If an approved costumer gathers the reference AND has the blaster, we can reveiw the entry.

Also, the FO boots aren't included yet.  We know they were used.  But other than Milton Putna in the Visual Dictionary, I can't find a clear example of them in the screen caps.  Also, there seems to have been a hybrid FO boot with a heel to further muddy the water.

I don't want the perfect to be the enemy of the good here though.

In terms of accuracy, this proposal is a seismic shift in the way things have always been and changes one of the oldest CRLs in the IOC.

With all that said, please read it over and ask questions.

    - Jeff

Thanks to all of you for your answers.

The reason why I was wondering about this is that I've seen several artists on social media who offer commissions for personal patch designs, so I wasn't sure if this is something you have to have. But you made it clear to me, thank you. Since it's an optional thing, I guess I will focus on getting my costume ready at first, and then think again about if I want to have a personal patch or not^^

Hi Alexandra, alles oben gesagte stimmt zu 100% :duim:

Wenn du Fragen wegen Patches oder überhaupt die Aufnahme in die 501st hast, meld dich gerne bei mir :)

First Order!  Very rare costume. :) I'm more partial to the Lieutenant / Captain, but otherwise, the Teal is solid.

Transport would be funny, I agree, but that costume just doesn't sit well with me.  Too on the nose from the inspiration for comfort.

    Thanks for your input!

AND for the first time since I opened this poll the First Order Major/Colonel uniform is on top :duim: keep voting, ladies and gentleman!

Hi, Steven! Although I am a newbie on what concern to this matter, between those three I would try Armand Isard as it’s a costume that will certainly stand out from your tunics collection without touching on sequel films. Congratulations with your degree btw!!

Thanks a lot for your reply!

  7. Hello fellow officers!

I hope you are all doing well in these special times :)

I made good use of the last months of lockdown and finally finished my university studies and got my diploma degree (equivalent to a masters degree), hooray!

Now I was thinking about giving myself some sort of reward, with a new uniform, what else :P

But which one should I make? I have three uniforms on my short list (order like they are listed in the CRL Database):

    • Armand Isard
    • FO Colonel/Major
    • FO Flag Officer

They all have some pro and cons which are the following:

    • Armand Isard https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_armand_isard
      • pro
same pattern as all other imperial uniforms.
I have all the items I need like belt, rank bar, boots and code cylinders.
I just need the red fabric and give it to my seamstress, voilá job done.
      • con
might need a wig for the white strand of hair, will talk to my barber about this, not a big con though.

    • FO Colonel/Major https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_First_Order_Colonel_and_Major
      • pro
I like the teal colour! It's so different from any other uniform we ever had and it's really an eyecatcher in a big crowd of Officers.
As I found CrowProps on fb the FO boots are no problem anymore, they were really hard to find, on an acceptable prize.
      • con
need to find a suitable fabric, I did not really like the fabrics used by different vendors I spotted so far, but the problem is not that big, there is a pretty great fabric store in vienna, I'm sure they have something in stock.
My seamstress would have to make a new pattern, but she can manage this as well.
Hat - not sure she can make the hat because I don't know where to get the visor (any ideas?)

So what do you say? Do you have a different opinion to one of my points? Let me hear it! And please vote in the poll, thanks!

    Imperial Greetings

Thanks, I didn't know there are so few people with Hessen boots. In the worst case I will just stick to ebay and keep on searching. There are often riding boots from Cavallo or Königs for sale and they also look fantastic.

There is/was also a shop in europe with no or not much shipping costs, but they are not making custom boots anymore. One of our new members in Austria had the same problem.
