  1. Thanks for your calming words, we should not let this discussion be influenced by our emotions.

We can say for everyone who is a part of this that we love Star Wars, we love the Empire and we love this costume, so of course everyone brings a lot of passion with him/her

  2. Exactly, we are not here to criticize anyone, we just to want to make the CRL more clear and easy to use so that everyone can easy read it and create the costume :)

@Centauri congratulations btw that you've made it to Detachment Staff :D

That's exactly the problem I had. I was confused and I knew what it SHOULD look like. I can only imagine a seamstress who hasn't seen it looking at it going "what???"

Especially since so many people look for outside help, I really think this should be reworded so that it makes sense on a general reading.

first thing my seamstress said was to translate this to german for her, I'm happy if I can make sense of it, but then we talk about other people who don't know the cape as well as we do...

4 - Okay , something that really bugs me about the new CRL . The holster is mandatory , but not the blaster . Seriously ?
I mean , like Phil said in main CRL discussion , it's both or none , what the point of wearing an empty holster ?
Unless it's riveted unit your belt like an AHN TK's holster you might as well remove it and not wonder around convention centres looking like you forgot your DT-29 in your Death Star office .

I again agree with you and this is also a point where I was shaking my head, on every Staff Officer it is both or nothing

Perhaps instead of sending everything straight to the DL it'd be nice that you'd post it here first so we can all discuss the CRL before any further changes are made .
Which was sort of the point of the main CRL discussion James opened a whole while back .

There is a diagram of the cape that I did, that is included in the CRL, it needs a minor tweak and then it will be spot on, I'll also be adding more descriptive detail to help. I'm planning on sorting that this week and then sending to the DL

I also say it would be better to upload the new diagram here so that we can have a look at it and perhaps make some suggestions :)

The yoke discussion makes no sense to me. As I've said before, I have trained in costume design and construction, and reading the yoke notes I honestly could not figure out what was meant. As a seamstress, as a costumer, the only way I figured this out was because I knew what the source material was. If you gave this wording to a seamstress they would need a lot more information to make an appropriate yoke as yokes come in many shapes and forms.

I'm glad you're saying this as a professionell seamstress, because I sat together with my seamstress today and I was damn confused with what is what... without knowing the reference pics I would have had no idea what the words where telling me ^^

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying my way is the best or perfect and people should be free to do it how they think, however people were starting to go off track and saying plastic snaps a lot, just wanted to point out that, it doesn't say that in the CRL

I had no idea they were going to go to the level that they did with the CRL and use my attachment method. I have no issue with it being chaged

There is nothing about a tunic or cape secured by a solid metal snap button ;)

In my opinion it is simply logic to let the single person decide which way they do it, same as for the other Officer Uniforms, so we are all at the same side :)

  6. Thanks for bringing this up, I also wondered why there is a modesty panel :o because at every reference picture I saw the collar was only secured with the hooks you mentioned.

I believe to remember a scene where the collar is even open and you can see clear on his throat, but I don't know which scene and if my memory is correct ^^

@UnusedPizza as said before you did a great job and I really believe that the way you did it keeps the cloak in perfect place. I think all we wanted to say with the previous posts is that the people should have the freedom to decide how they attach the cape to the tunic, as long as nothing is visible and the cape is kept in its place :)

Belt is good enough for L1 don't worry , you'll just need the grooves in the leather for L2 and L3 , possibly a more accurate greeblie too , although the CRL doesn't yet states the the greeblie is different from the OT code cylinders .

Cosplaysky uses poly-twill i think , a synthetic based fabric , but it has always been cleared so far , i don't see why it shouldn't be now . Technically OT Officers also have tunics made of wool gabardine :)

I'd like to have someone else's word on the snap matter though .
I think it might be best to NOT have that many buttons on a tunic if you're smaller , there's no real point in having a snap every inch all along the tunic ...

Wonderful to hear! That are tons of good news today, regarding the tunic and belt :) I think the grooves can easy be made by a shoemaker or so who usually works with leather

I also thought when I read about the buttons for the tunic "that is about a button every 5cm" :P

I mean I'm 6'6" tall, so I'm a giant around most people.  Hence when I ordered, they sized everything up in comparison - the pocket openings on my jacket are larger than on my fellow troopers because of size difference, and so would the collar, I'd imagine.

However, specifying the collar size probably isn't a bad idea. :)

Ah :D now I understand, well it is not really surprising, you look very tall at the pictures ;)

I'm only 1,72m but I make the best out of it ;) I gave them probably every measurement I had, so that there is as little chance as possible for them to get anything wrong

It was for me.  Keep in mind I'm bigger than most, so my collar may be bigger than yours.

I don't know exactly what you mean but I told them to make the collar 8cm high (just to be sure it comes high enough) and my seamstress will shorten it to the required height.

However I'm happy to hear that I didn't bought my new CS Uniform in vain :D *sigh* thanks!

  10. First of all, it is wonderful that we got the Krennic CRL so quick after the release of the movie :D great job!

Now I have a few questions, because I finally want to start my own Krennic build, they are regarding the tunic and the cape and the belt:

1 - The CRL says  White wool or wool-like twill weave  for the tunic, so is the CosplaySky tunic of "wool-like" material? (or can we simply say that it is?) Otherwise I can send back the ordered uniform a soon as I get it :( hope not...

2 - The tunic hast to be closed and secured with 12(!!) snaps, I am about 1,72m high (so smaller than the CRL model) and I have 5 snaps at my Grand Admiral and Staff Officer uniform which is more than enough, so do we really need 12 snaps? Because on no other uniform the number of snaps is stated.

3 - This is regarding the snaps and plastic buttons on L2 for the cloak, it says   10 plastic buttons and snaps around the collar help secure the cloak. An additional two metal snaps and loops on the code cylinder pockets to help secure the cloak. Do we really have to do it 1:1 as the CRL model (however great job @UnusedPizza I really like your work!!)? Shouldn't everyone be allowed to secure the cloak in the way that is best for him? As long as the cloak stays in place and no one of the buttons is visible.

4 - finally, is the buckle of this belt accurate for L1? If not, where to get the correct one?DSCN2839.JPG

    Thanks in advance and greetings!

    Steven

  11. I received my blaster today from @Notlewis (great work btw ;) ) and I definitely recommend belt hooks, because the blaster, or at least the one I have, is quite heavy. So I think it would be a good way to keep belt, holster and blaster in place where they should be :)

Edit: pictures will follow as soon as I have my black jodhpurs back ;)

  12. Dear fellow Krennics, this is the Grand Admiral speaking!

Does anyone of you want to upload the sewing pattern you used for the cape so that that my seamstress and I could have an idea how to make it?

It would be a great help if we could look on a few patterns to decide what would work best for my own cape :)

    Many thanks and greetings!

    Steven

Edit: of course you can also send me an PM if you don't want to share the pattern in public.

  13. I can't say anything about ISB, but DO NOT buy their Grand Admiral Uniform, buy the Deluxe Uniform:

    http://cosplaysky.com/star-wars-imperial-officer-uniform-costume-deluxe-version-new.html

and order "colour change" to white, it will cost about 40$ extra but it's accurat. You can have a look at my Executor Request, because I did the same thing and it worked perfect for me. But Kris is right, it is always a bit of hit and miss.

Good luck and keep us informed about your progress!
