Stefan, I just thought of something regarding what you said about the boots...I'll try to remember to note any existing references on this front in your CRL proposal thread, and mention it there myself, if not already posted, but..."adjustment strap" (on otherwise normal riding boots):

If there is no buckle allowed on the boots (few lines higher in that section of the existing and your proposed changed CRL), how can there be an adjustment strap? Do these straps, somehow, have no buckle, or was this overlooked?

Also, if there's no stretch panels allowed (i.e. to adjust for comfort/changing/different calf sizes on some boots), what would such a strap be adjusting? Is it possible the boots seen in R1 with the adjustment strap do, in fact, have small stretch panels, but they've just not yet been seen at high enough resolution to know they're there? That would most readily explain the straps, at least.

As I hope I've made clear, I'm really not just trying to needlessly nitpick or rock the boat...lol I, truly, appreciate everyone's help on all this. :)

ETA: Here's a photo I found of Krennic's boots (in a display somewhere of the screen-worn costume, though I've lost the page where I found it/the info). Is this the strap (exactly, or at least similar) as you describe for some of the "staff officers"? If so, it does have a buckle, and appears to be adjusting a flap or split bit at the back of the strap (as would be logical). I'll keep looking for non-Krennic examples.

On a related front, have we decided that these uniforms are same-same between Solo and R1? I know how they looked to me while scanning, but I imagine someone else has done the deep dive on that. Thanks, as with everything!

Hi Geoffrey, thanks for pointing this out, I just re-checked with the Krennic CRL and the point about "no buckles" does not exist for Krennic's boots. However the "no buckle" requirement would not apply for the adjustment strap, because an adjustment strap without a buckle would not be an adjustment strap but just a strip of leather. I will change this in the other thread. I have no idea what it is adjusting, in my personal opinion it's just for the look, not for actual use, but that's just my private opinion, I have never really thought about this any further.

And yes, it's meant to be exactly the same like on the pic you found. Sadly most of the reference shots of the boots are very blurry and if there would be a stretch panel behind the strap, one would not see it. But from what I can tell from the pic you posted I think some part of the upper end of the boots is overlapping with the leather in the rear and the circumference of the boots is adjusted in this way, not with a stretch panel. Is this confusing or is it clear what I tried to describe?

For your final question, yes I think they are mostly the same between R1 and SOLO. Simply from a production point of view I think they re-used them from R1, except in case a uniform really did not fit the actor.

    Regards

    Stefan

  2. Hi Geoffrey, have a look at my CRL proposal for the R1 Officers:

I collected every reference I could find, although it's not an official CRL (because no one has yet made a complete R1 Staff Officer) you can use it as a guide for your uniform. Kris has already mentioned some differences to the "normal" Staff Officer from the OT. E.g. the tunic is a bit more tapered to the body of the wearer.

And about your boots question, they re-used boots from the First Order for some people and the normal riding boots had an adjustment strap, which they didn't in the OT.

    Hope this helps!

  3. My two cents on this topic: as most of the other CRLs don't say which rank you need for basic approval (e.g. like the Social Officer) it should be the same for the L1 Mimban Officer.

And the Costume Gallery for the Mimban Officer is still leading to the Social Officer Gallery. Not that I don't like seeing my face, but this is definitely the wrong place ;)

My favorite so far in my Staff Officer uniform while at a opening night event for Last Jedi - 'Are you Supreme Leader Snoke?'   I swear, I was just wearing my normal black uniform, not the optional gold velour bathrobe that goes with it!!

You must have had a bad day ^^ but still a fun story to tell :D
