  1. I.... expected more people to die. Not sure if I’m feeling let down that it didn’t happen but I think I felt more in Kanan’s episode than this. I dunno. The last two episodes just felt oddly paced to me. Like they had too much to tie up in not enough time.

  2. Sorry Kris but what we do is cosplay.  We exist in the costuming community just like any other group or costumer does, there's nothing special about us that makes the word cosplay not apply.  When Legion members get upset about this word being used I never understand it.  Our costumes are better than the average con-goer but that doesn't make the word not apply.  If anything our units that emphasize in character behavior are actually cosplaying more than the rest of us.

To be honest this attitude that we are somehow special is why we have the bad rep in the rest of the costuming world that we do (along with unwelcoming behavior earlier in our history and in some places even today).  It turns away recruits and breeds antagonistic rival groups.  But you're right, that's a debate for another time (and one that's been going on ever since the term cosplay came

    Hear hear!
  3. I found a company who makes this armour . Just wondering how I go about doing the CRL for Governor Pryce imperial battle armour?

First thing you have to do is build it. Then when it's to a standard you'll submit it and work with the IOC to create a CRL. But don't wait to get the armour waiting for a CRL. That is unlikely to happen without someone getting the armour done first.
  4. Well, we'll see. I still think it's too see through and while freshly pressed is nice, most troops that's not how it will stay. It needs to look good when not fresh off the ironing board too, and I don't believe that will be the case. While finding a lightweight twill is probably ideal, I think there are other options that would work and look better than the quilting cotton.

  5.

Here in the USA Jo Ann stores there is quite a variety to quilting cotton - a very good quality cotton JoAnn sells is the Kona Brand. But I used the cheaper classic country 65% poly/35%cotton as a mock-up and it had a very nice crisp drape to it much like my final cape fabric.

Believe me, I love Kona. But I really believe that quilting cotton will not look right with the rest of the fabrics. Even if it drapes well, it will crease heavily, and always looks like someone just used a cheap material when it's used as costume pieces. A cotton twill? Sure. But plain quilting cotton looks like you forgot to remake the test pattern into real materials. I personally would never encourage it.

The Cloack/Cape fabric is harder to find a perfect match. I make and sell the cape from a lightweight cotton twill fabric that I bought up for my inventory. But I'm thinking just a plain white cotton fabric, like you'd find in the quilting area of JoAnn's, would work, but Mark may need to confirm that.  I'd say white cotton quilting fabric was a very 'similar fabric' as the CRL says is acceptable,  as you can barely tell the lightweight twill is even a twill unless you are really looking at it.

Hate to disagree with you, but quilting cotton would not, imo, be suitable at all for the cape. It will look cheap and very unlike the original cape. It will be too light, and almost see through.

Thanks! That is a solid point. In all honesty having a dosimeter style code cylinder isnt really going to change a fans experence. Those of us embedded in these CRL's might notice but other than that most probably wouldent bat an eye. Like I said, it's for sure a little knitpicky.

Believe me, having done this with Pryce, I get it. We want it to be as close to the on screen images as possible. There was a bunch of things I personally thought should be L1. But we need to be careful that our L1 requirements aren't too onerous.

  8. So I know it's kindof knitpicky, but the dosimeter style code cylinders are really not at all accurate for this costume. The chalk holders are slightly more accurate for Rebels, but even still not entirely accurate. I've made these and I think they are closer than anything else out there. Take it or leave it, this is just my 2 cents.

I think what you made is awesome, and I also think thoroughly within the level 2 requirements.

L1 is there to be reasonable. Lots of folks can get their hands on these easily, and while 3D printing is handy, is still not available to all.
  9. The porposed one is the original feldgrau, and I was pointing on the fact we cannot judge it by a picture, because the feldgrau color must be seen under the sunlight, which is the neutral color light (5500 kelvin degress) to understand which color really is. Fieldgrey is the english for Feldgrau.

I made some color test and talked about it in a dedicated topic

If we can't judge anything by a picture, then how would this whole 501st thing work? We have to make some determination based on the images we see. It's what the OP asked for- opinions based on a photo.

I still stand by my statement. While in darker lighting it might lean towards grey, I don't believe the color in the image will ever lean towards olive and next to an ANOVOS outfit, which I've seen in person, this one would look totally out of place colour-wise.
  10. The correct color of the olive uniform is the nazi feldgrau. It changes depending on the light on it. If the light is warm it becomes green, but if the light is cold it becomes blueish-grey.
For the same reason we cannot judge the color of the nazi uniform by a picture.
Anovos has the closest color match.

I never said Cosplaysky's was right. I just said I really don't like the proposed one he had. It doesn't read feldgrau to me, or olive. It's almost sea-blue-green which is neither imo.
  11. I really dislike that colour and don't think it looks anywhere near what it should. It doesn't have any olive in it and is trending towards blue, which the olive should not. I think I'd be more inclined to change to black than this and would be upset if I saw this colour approved as it would stick out from every other uniform like a sore thumb.

We may not like the Cosplaysky olive, but it's still in the same family olive, so it passes as at least fitting in with others. This would not.

  12. Well thank you for the precious advices for fixing the make up.

I think that I will give it a try as soon as I can.

Indeed the shade of blue was too dark.

I will try to find one that have a more polar shade.

If this is cream or water based, you can also make it lighter by adding white.

The baking may also help as the powder may dampen down the colour a touch.

  13. It's looking good to me!

On getting the makeup to stay I have two suggestions- one is powdering everything and letting it "bake". This means you put way too much powder over your makeup and let it sit there for a time (10-15 min should be plenty). After a time, you brush the excess off. This helps set the makeup.

Then after that, get yourself a good setting spray and go to town. I recommend Urban Decay's but you might find something else.

Hands will always be harder and it may be easier to wear gloves anyway.

  14. Because its there quite clearly and if it was not meant to be seen it would not be as i said it could even be drawn on who says its a seam oh and Pryce does not have that detail just like the other officers

I didn't mean she had that detail. I mean, the manner that this has been done has been something that lends to a more cartoony look of the overall uniform. Thrawn's and Pryce's seams are all drawn black. To add black or grey is to move it closer to that look.

However, if you're going to do one seam, I think you should do all seams. There's no difference in seam between this arm seam and the armhole seam or yoke. If you're ok with the yoke/armhole not having black piping, my question is why does this seam have different treatment?
  15. What would you suggest then?

Consistency on the uniform. Either they're all piped, and the edge of the yoke is piped, or none of the seams are.

As for a suggestion as to other than piping, I dunno. I'm not sure why it's being added in the first place. I don't see why a sharpie line (drawn beautifully ofc) isn't acceptable if you're trying to get the animated look. But then if you wanted that, why not make Pryce do the same?

I get the reasoning behind having the line be part of the uniform. I just don't get why you would add such a potentially distracting and huge detail in just that one place.

Also, on a side note, with Pryce L1 was kept so most standard off the rack uniforms could be usable. I'm wondering why you're insisting on this particular seam at this level on Thrawn and not making off the rack uniforms with appropriate modifications usable. There's no way without building a new sleeve to insert that seam and still have it look right if you're starting with an off the rack uniform. It'll change the way the sleeve hangs even if you make a minor tuck.

  16. When someone finishes the costume, submits images, works with the detachment on a CRL to submit and then the LMOs go through and approve/tweak. Photos of all specific pieces have to be taken and submitted, and then those have to be cleaned up and the page prepared before it all goes out.

I think from when I submitted submission shots to Pryce going live it took over 4 weeks? Maybe even more like 5. And I took photos of all my pieces pretty quickly after being asked. Not everyone has the ability/good camera to get that done so quickly, so it may take longer. Also I'm fairly sure Celebration slowed it down, so real world things do affect this.

I'd expect if it got turned around within 1 month of submission to be a good timeframe, but you and I don't know what's been submitted or when necessarily. So until it goes live, we are probably just guessing.

  17. I've gone through and read up... when exactly is an expected finalization going to be produced? I've seen several Thrawn kits... but nothing has come in to fruition.
