Which book did you order? I've drafted my own patterns before, and ended going back to the bodice block I'd drafted as a starter for the uniform tunic. I just had to do some fitting to account for a different fabric choice for this project, but it was much easier than trying to alter a commercial pattern to fit.
If you need any fitting or pattern assistance, I'd love to help out. I really enjoy pattern making more than sewing, tbh.

Oh, and I think it's only about 2 inches down from the join. For reference, the stitching on the joins is IMO three lines, 1/4" apart each, so about half an inch at the widest.
Remember this is hugely zoomed in. I literally used my telescopic lens that I used to get photos from the back of the auditorium in panels.

Yeah, my degree in history & costume design comes in handy sometimes. =P
I'm not sure you could use them as pockets easily. Remember, they open but you would put your hands from the inside to the outside... So where your pocket would be is on the outside of the cape.

I was looking hard at that. I don't think there are lines, but I also think we can't be sure with the angle it was at.

    Hi there,

Not to throw too much of a spanner into the works, BUT...

I don't think its white. At least not pure white. Having seen it in the flesh, I felt it was actually a really really light grey. I know a lot of designers shy away from full on white because it can cause whiteouts on camera, and that combined with what I saw makes me think its not pure white.

I wouldn't say off white/cream as I feel it doesn't have the yellowy/gold undertones that you see in off white. It has very definitely blue undertones to it. I don't think this was just the effect of the lighting, as the same lighting was on his costume as the main characters, which were very definitely in the brown/cream spectrum.

Edited to add: I'm glad you like my photos!

Hi, I'm the photographer who took that.

These are slits set into the cape. They looked functional to me, but I couldn't actually see through them. However if you notice the panel behind the slit changes size, meaning its likely the fabric was pulling slightly apart, meaning the slits are functional.

These slits are actually very common in 19th Century attire. They are essentially openings with a placket behind them so that drafts don't go through. It allows you to put your arms through the cape if you want to. My guess is that Krennic doesn't bother, but the option was given to them. Also, because its all the same material, I would surprised if you can see them easily.

I would also recommend against assuming what he wore at the Rogue One panel did not have these as that lighting was so harsh it changed the colour of his hair, the clothes, and would have made any imagery coming out of it blend the slits out of existence.

Looking at the fourth panel, that's detail I hadn't caught before.  So the slit goes up to about crotch level, but there's a joint in it what looks like about 3-4 inches lower - most likely to keep it from ripping the seam open by flapping.
    Thank you

Hi, I was the photographer in that. It was not the same as the one he wore on stage, HOWEVER I will say that the lighting in the Rogue One panel room was exceptionally harsh. Really really bright white light. It would wash out anything that wasn't heavily coloured. So while it looked a lot lighter, it wasn't as light as some people think.

Looking at it myself, I felt like the costume we saw was not pure white, but more of a really really light grey. Like dove grey. Not off white (which has the yellowy/gold undertones) but a blue undertoned grey.

Also, the display one definitely had a slit in the back. You had to go hunting for it, but this is 4 pictures that I put together of the same place on the cape from different angles where you can clearly see the opening of the slit.
