Initially I did propose five
High command
Fleet command/regular officers
Security/intelligence
Fleet trooper/navy trooper
Crewmen
That should cover everything.
-
-
Well I believe that would fall under security.
-
Based on the supporting evidence. Hats could be worn as an option, but a lack of a hat would be preferred.
-
Agreed. Perhaps we can use the prefix MD as a inside joke though.

The straight leg/Chelsea boots 'variant' is already a part of the ISB CRL, lol
It'd just be cleaning it up to match the Line / Staff CRLs however we incorporate the mess dress / semi formal concept.
Well then it should be split to form it's own CRL.
-
Hats would not be optional. And ISB would not be included as they are not seen in this uniform variant.
It could be argued that Krennic flashback should have straight pants though.
-
That could definitely work. It would split the current officers group up nicely and spread it round.

I don't hate splitting up by era, the current system of Officers, Crewman, Navy isn't terrible, we just need a way to break up all those Officer costumes.
That's why I proposed splitting it by high command and regular

At the risk of muddying the waters further, yet another option might be to make it movie-centric in terms of time.:
Prequel Trilogy Era
Original Trilogy Era
Sequel Trilogy Era
There are some things that could blur the boundaries a little (I assume we'd put Clone Wars with the Prequels, clearly, and probably R1 with the OT, in terms of time, but Solo is literally set halfway between the Prequel and OT timelines, and do we put Rebels with the OT as well? I'd say yes to both, but it's not clear cut), but it still gives you the general idea, and is easily understood by anyone who has seen the movies, whether or not they recall which group was in charge at the time.
I don't have a dog in this race; just throwing this idea out in case people take a liking to it, else I'm cool with other ideas that have been suggested as well. (except renaming the IOC... sorry, I like it as an homage to our OT roots, if nothing else)
Everyone has a say. And while splitting it by era could work, as you said yourself it can get confusing as both rogue one and solo are prequels.
That's why I thought listing it by military instead of Era.

Ok. So I would like to start moving on to revamping the CRLs, either the name of some as has been suggested or in some cases the actual CRL (I know some people want the navy trooper CRLs worked over). Before then, I want to know, do people want to change the layout, or keep it the same. Do we go with
Republic officers
High command
Fleet officers
ISB
Navy troopers
Crewmen
Imperial officers
High command
Fleet officers
ISB
Navy troopers
Crewmen
First Order officers
High command
Fleet officers
ISB
Navy troopers
Crewmen
Or just go with
High command
Fleet officers
ISB
Navy troopers
Crewmen
And ignore eras?

ID Imperial Officer: Staff Officer Mess Dress (Black)
ID Imperial Officer: Line Officer Mess Dress (Olive)
Sounds good. What about the sience officer then? We keep it as an special suit, or just combine it with Line Mess Dress?I thought combine it myself. @DarthFunk83 it's your CRL, so your thought matters more.

I like the term Undress uniform, or if we go British military, Mess Dress. I think we can leave the Science Officer be, and just make a separate CRL for 'Undress Uniform, All Services' to cover the black and olive uniforms and make the undershirt optional and open it up to any style single row rank bar.
Do we create mess dress staff and mess dress line, or mess dress and have both optional (personally I prefer two separate crls)

That's right. No hats.
Although this is speculation, to me, because this is at a "party" and they aren't wearing hats, this seems informal to me. Having read through this thread, I am starting to think that these uniforms are casual or off-duty uniform, something like a casual dress uniform. No idea what a better sounding name would be at the moment
Explains why they have boots and jodpurs for the ball in Thrawn, as that was beyond casual.
So casual dress uniform works for me.

Also, no hats.

So, after thinking about this, I propose an update to the Line Officer, Staff Officer, Science Officer, and ISB.
Since we've now seen each of these Officer's with the straight legs and Chelsea boots, I think it appropriate to just update each CRL with a Note. That note would state that for the said uniform, an off-duty varient would be the same but with the straight leg trousers and Chelsea boots.
Basically, this would eliminate the science Officer as it becomes irrelevant (and not to hurt feeling or say it's not relevant, it just becomes one with the Line Officer varient).
We already sort of have this on ISB. We can just update it so it's consistent across all 3 CRLs.
Thoughts?
Not to sound rude, but no.
We already have a crl for this. The science officer. Seems more appropriate to rename it to casual/party uniform (casual dress uniform?)
We also feel we need to stop combining these uniforms (hense why I created the revamp thread).

The confusion seems to be that the badge they wear does not denote the style of trouser or boots. It denotes their position in the hierarchy NOT their rank of Science Officer, Admiral or General.
I’d also like to just say I think it’s not right to question Kris’s integrity , someone who has helped me with my costumes whether it be with encouragement or guidance as I’m sure he has with many others
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkGeneral and admiral is Does, but science officer would be a title. If this line of thinking is accurate.

This looks great! And so far, looks easy enough I may actually be able to sew one with my rudimentary sewing skills, LOL!
Might try it as well. I could use it at work.

Out of interest, what's the mindset for using the term "Fleet Command." I'm not particularly bothered by it, but it's a bit suggestive that all officers do is walk around the hallways of star destroyers.
For the most part Imperial officers that we have seen are naval. The Imperial navy is the empires largest branch as well.
But, honestly, I just assumed navy for it.
And as I stated earlier, I would love to reclaim/share General Veers and the Mud trooper officers and create a Ground Command as well. Future goals if any of this takes off.
-
I'll take that as a tick of approval that we can move forward with the discussion. I'll give it a few days so others can see and have their say and then we can possibly start on step 2, the actual crls.
Bearing in mind that the ISB has recently been updated.

We can always present both ideas and the detachment can decide.
