Considering Thrawns character and the fact that this is a military organization uniform, Im confused how it isn't implied there aren't other grand admirals and that he would wear a military uniform outside of military regulations(personalized)? There are many other fleets and Grand admirals head them all up. In the Heir To The Empire series the reaction to the realization of a grand admiral still around is like, "oh shoot, we missed one?!" I know talking about EU but Rebels doesn't rewrite the Empires military organization plus in the recently released book "Thrawn" if I remember correctly he interacts with other GAs as he takes command of the 7th Fleet. That alone implies there are many others given typically they command a fleet and the Empire has many.

In Thrawn he interacts with other Admirals I believe. We know that they wear white from the Leia book as Mon Mothma mentions meeting with a Grand Admiral, and another character mistakes Krennic for a Grand Admiral because of the white.

While I am for a generic GA in the canon style, I do also agree with Sean that more reference will always help.

It is very much like Tarkin, we know that there were other Moff's and probably other Grand Moff's, but we don't yet have evidence other than pyrce.

Like I said, Im not the one thats making the decisions. The problem I can for see is for a Rebels-style Grand Admiral is the "a bit of logic" part... Proof/visual references is always how CRLs and the 501st has operated.

Now, that been said: theres nothing stopping you from just making a generic Rebels-style Grand Admiral. You can wear it. It just, at this time, isnt 501st approved.

I wouldn't call it a rebels style GA, but a generic GA. So, movie style uniform, with straight pants, regular boots, etc etc. We at least have evidence of these characters existing like this, and the Thrawn comic will also be another reference for a generic once the final issue is released.

In my opinion, and I by no means speak for the LMO or any of the other IOC Staff, but I think it would be very difficult to get a generic Rebels-style Grand Admiral uniform without having any other visual references. There was a big thing recently regarding the 4th member of Inferno Squad, Seyn Marana. SpecOps assumed that Seyn, being part of Inferno, should wear the same stuff as the rest of her team mates (which we have loads of references for). This seemed reasonable to some. But when she got a CRL with basically no visual references, there was an explosion of outrage, and the CRL eventually got pulled. Anyways, my two cents. Like I said, this is not an official declaration or anything, just my opinion.

Difference is that we also have the image of Rae Sloane in her Grand Admiral white. Same seam lines.

It's stylised of course cause it's supposed to be propoganda, but we can work from these two sources and with a bit of logic, get a CRL for this.

The issue with Seyn was that she never had armour in the book, and it was listed as a generic grunt. There is a black series generic inferno squad toy (apparently just a repaint of a TIE pilot) and the command staff have straight up refused any generics or any open discussions after people lost their minds.

^What they said. There's evidence of other Grand Admirals, just not a lot of reference, but we have full of reference of Thrawn's clothes and that's all that's relevant. Plus if you be the first non-Thrawn new extended universe Grand Admiral, that would probably be its own CRL? Worth starting a thread to discuss when you start getting your costume together, whether Rebels style rank bars/belt would still apply, etc etc.

Those and the code cylinders would need to be changed (possibly boots as well)

Is it wrong to assume one could do a generic grand admiral with the rebels version of the uniform since military uniforms are typically standardized?

CRL wise it has not been done. However, we know that Rae Sloane becomes a GA with Rebels style uniform including princess seams, and we know from the book Leia: Princess of Alderaan that there are other Grand Admirals as they mention that a white uniform normally means a Grand Admiral.

No harm in trying, good to inform the brass here to give you a hand, BJ the LMO etc.

Something to consider with choosing a rank is age.  If you are younger, lieutenant is a youthful rank. Middle aged is commander /mid ranks. Older is general, admiral ect.  This is based off of experience in the army.  You star at the bottom and work your way up.  It's like seeing a 25 year old general or admiral in a movie. It looks weird.   Does that make sense?   And I'm not knocking anyone for wanting to be any rank specifically. Just life experience.

Yeah 27 and a Grand Admiral is slightly unbelievable, until you consider how the Empire works. Know the right people, kiss the correct boots etc.

  7. My GA was my 3rd costume and second star wars costume. My first is my mando, because we do need their scum.

Aside from That, I wanted to join the 501st and wanted something cheaper than a tk so an officer was chosen and I love the look of the Grand Admiral. Then came my next cheap officer, Krennic, and armoured costumes will come soon.

    I may have a problem.

That's part of being "in character".  I have an entire head-canon for the nameless officer I portray;  I wear a Captain badge, because I was given captainship of a Victory-Class Star Destroyer.  Sounds nifty, right?  Except the Victory-class ships are the old war tech, and being placed on one is usually seen as the career-ender for any upward mobility.  It makes sense to me that the Empire might stick an experienced female officer somewhere like that so as to appease her without having to deal with her.  Of course, knowing this, my character lets this all go to her head and thinks she's going to be the next Peitt.

Okay, nerdiness aside, be whatever rank you want.  The goal is to have fun and put smiles on faces :P

I'm doing the same for my GA, except he chose the Victory-I for tactical reasons.

Why though? Why would that matter when we accept both current canon and legends equally into the legion - unless you’re suggesting we throw out anything that is “non-canon”?

For idiots like me who like to write stories in my free time and like to keep it canon. Also, for idiots like me who are fascinated with both, but like the separation, seeing the similarity and the differences in characters and timelines. (Yes, I would love to be part of the Lucasfilm lore team).

It is also, from a reading point, important to keep them separate. For example, Thrawn's character does not change (Dave Filloni wanted to do the character justice) but if we include events then they are vastly different, though they share some similarities.

What that means, is having to add more details as they appear, making it a living document (which is fun)

I think it's a good idea, however I think it should be stated which is Canon and non Canon so there is no confusion

As a canon junkie I agree with this.

And I love the idea. Anything to help keep back the curtain.

Unsure how making it as clear as possible, ensuring you're capturing the layman term and the technical, is not making it accessible for as many people as possible? Simple isn't always the best way forward.
BUT! I'm not an LMO and was merely voicing my thoughts. :)

Put it this way. You start getting technical in these discussions about what things should be called, exact measurements (according to the actor), and techniques that I switch off because I have no idea what you are talking about. On top of that, the GMLs need to be able too understand what is said.

I don't know if such thing is really possibly. In "Rebel rising" Jyn Erso try lives between Empire and Rebellion, but it's impossible - in places where is the Empire is also (sooner or later) Rebellion. And between them there's not place for normal, innocent people.

Mercs love this. This is where the money comes from. Just because I fight for the Empire does not mean that I support them, my contract runs out and next day I am fighting against them because the other side paid me. It's just good business.

Or as a fellow Mando mercs said. Empire? Rebellion? Which side are you choosing? Well you see here is always something I wanted to try. It's called a decuple cross.
