This uniform was definitely only seen with a single bar, we are talking here of creating a CRL for a uniform that has differences to the current staff officer so where is the logic of allowing things that are wrong?

I am agreeing with you. I am just saying it should be level 2 not level 3

  2. This goes against what I posted in the other thread on Rank bars, but this uniform variant in only seen in ANH (As comics look to be the other variant) I would say the rank bar being only a single bar should be level two.

I think the collar insignia in Rebels is quite interesting.  Not all the officers have it so it is another way to distinguish one type of costume from the series from another (and another customization route for matching all that together for L2/L3).

I think with everything out there now along with Rebels we can reliably say that "Staff Officer" as being the only role for black-uniformed officers is bunk.  We developed this internal canon about them because of what we saw in the movies and because the meaning of different colored uniforms hadn't been made clear in canon (and still isn't 100% clear in my opinion besides that the olive uniforms are all Navy guys and white tunics are usually ISB).

Then we have the grey uniform style which we are starting to see more and more - I wasn't paying attention 100% during my watching spree to catch up on Rebels but are there more of those than just the Moffs?

The books still refer to non coms wearing black. Proper grey is only seen on Price, and as a Governor she is allowed some flexibility. White however is not ISB, but delegated to those of high importance in the Imperial hierarchy (Leia: Princess of Alderaan as reference). That is why Grand Admirals, Directors and others such as Versio and Yularen wear white tops. Basically, if an officer in a white top shows up, your day just got so much worse.

  4. Thrawn - Grand Admiral rank bar (12 tiles t=3B3A b=3B3R) - silver triangle+silver bar collar - hat = no

    Tarkin - Governor Rank bar (12 tiles t=6B b=3R3A) - dark green split triangle+line - hat = no

    Price - Governor Rank bar (12 tiles t=6B b=3R3A) - dark triangle - hat = no

Litzt - Lieutenant Rank bar (4 tiles t=2R b=2B) - no collar insignia - hat = yes (insignia surrounds hat greeb)

Brom Titus - Admiral rank bar (6 tiles 4R 2A) - yellow angles - hat = yes (insignia is a single yellow triangle hollowed out)

Geonosis Captain - Captain Rank (6 tiles t=3R b=3B) - yellow angles - hat = yes (insignia is a single yellow triangle hollowed out)

Geonosis officer - The General Rank Bar - 8 tiles t=4R b=4B spaced like Veers) - dark coloured triangles - hat = yes (filled in dark coloured triangle with a secondary line)

Konstantine - Admiral rank bar (12 tiles t=6R b=6B) - dark coloured triangles - hat = yes (filled in dark coloured triangle with a secondary line)

Commandant Aresco - Captain Rank (6 tiles t=3R b=3B) - dark coloured triangles - hat = yes (filled in dark coloured triangle with a secondary line)

Taskmaster Bring - Captain Rank (6 tiles t=3R b=3B) - dark coloured triangles - hat = yes (filled in dark coloured triangle with a secondary line)

Hidden face officer - Lieutenant Rank bar (4 tiles t=2R b=2B) - no collar insignia - hat = yes no I signia

I don't know - I would think it will probably cover his service pre-Rebels and the "Alliance" in question are his hinted at team-ups with Vader.

Pre rebels is covered in Thrawn Unless you mean Pre Empire when he was part of the Chiss Ascendancy?

  6. I know Robert has a full list including speculations. I don't fully agree with it (In the naming sense only (Think British more than US)).

I know customisation is a dirty word here, especially as officer we want some uniformity and we don't want everyone claiming to be a Moff/Grand Moff, but a bit off leeway would add some unique flavour to each person.

  7. I am pretty sure this has been mentioned and this may also be because I am also a Mando merc so customisation is part of my thing.

Like the way the Krennic CRL is set up with the different looks you could do all officers like that. This would also make additional "New" officers easy to add on as they appear.

    etc

    - Generic Line Officer CRL (This is a pretty basic run-down only)

    - Tunic

    - Pants

    - Boots

    - Belt

    -Belt Boxes

    - Code Cylinders - For example At least One code cylinder must be worn

    -- L2

    -- Non Chalk Holders

    --- L3

    --- Real Dosimeters

    - Rank Badge

    -- L2

--Rank Badge MUST be Push Button (Let the debate begin)

    - Optional accessories

    -Poncho

    -Jedha Jacket

    -Weapon + Holster

Then Underneath This you will have Canon Characters and list specific requirements.

    EG Tarkin

    Belt Must match ANH

    Rank Must Match ANH

    Undershirt MUST be worn

    Code Cylinders Must match ANH

The Problem with this method is that you will need a Line Officer Film and Line Officer Animated, As I Feel these should be kept as separate CRLs

I would also prefer a Rank badge list with all possible Canon and Speculated ranks that acts as a living document as new things come to light. You could even add the the IoC would prefer canon ranks in the document.

Of Course people may choose to abuse this system to scrape by with approval so it might need some modifications. Interested on your thoughts.

In the Aftermath trilogy it seems like the ISB has it´s own fleet. If this is correct, it would make sense to give the relkated personnel fleet-related ranks. It would also fit perfectly to the story.

What annoys me the most is the useless center seam in the back of the tunic. I had a discussion for months last year with about this during the approval of a line officer (that i won of course). Now it´s introduced with this... Thing.

To be fair. I see normal suits with this seam, so it cannot be that useless.

  9. You guys know that Keri Hart etc oversaw this. You think they would have missed that?

Also, Inspector General seems like a rank carried over from Imperial Intelligence. As for the Admiral, you are assuming that ISB only has the single rank structure. Imagine, if you will, that the ISB is split into two groups, one navy, one army/stormtrooper corps (because we rarely see the army except Veers). It could be that Version spends his days focused on the Naval side of things.

As for the uniform. I like it, except the belt buckle being flat. That annoys me.

If we take the new canon seriously - and why shouldn´t we do this cause thats´s the reason they created the Lucasfilm Story Group - there´s a high chance that there are more ISB-Admirals than Garrick.

Thats´s my conclusion after i finished the new Leia novel where a greater number of Grand Admirals and Directors (Krennic) were mentioned.

A possible approach could be to 'generic' CRL for a ISB Admiral with a Lvl 2/3 auxiliary for Garrick Versio in person.

You just bumped Leia up my reading list.

I think we could have a "generic" CRL with options for Versio as L2

  11. Your mixing legends and canon for your information (bear in mind I don't have all the answers). The anh officers were noncoms as were most black uniformed officers. The reason for the back talk was simple, that was Vader's personal division of troopers, both commanders.

As for the black uniformed officers in rebels, both are part of the advanced research division, this falls under Imperial Intelligence, so they may have their own system set up. Also of note is that they are sector Command staff (title, not rank). Not sure how it all fits together though.

that is not canon.  noncoms don't wear black, they are a completely separate service from the men and women in green.  They share many of the same ranks as the people in green, but they are a separate entity.

Most of the current canon books state that noncoms wear black, Tarkin, Thrawn and Lost Stars I think all mention it.
