And honestly, does it really matter where the AT-AT commander goes? You can do him regardless of which detachment he's in. However, future armored officers like Thrawn, Tarkin or Pryce should be ours

Tonydragon reacted to charlyselo in CRL Idea: Combine Navy Trooper IN Dress & Staff Officer
Humm, the NT CRL needs a revisit, that's for sure. But I don't know if combine the Staff Officer (non 451) with the NT it's gonna be 100% correct.

What I would do, is made an update for the Staff with the FO boots, NT helmet, short gloves, maybe straight pants and chelsea boots. Defining very specifically all the variations (not allow straight pants with NT helmet, for example).

On the other hand, re-elaborate the NT CRL listing all the alternatives with more description, eliminate the RO version with rank badge and dosimeters, as we suposed that guy was an officer, not a NT, and finally add two SOLO versions, one with armour, maybe FO boots and another one with rain poncho without rank badge/dosimeters, etc. And also I would change the name from Navy Trooper to Fleet Trooper, as Disney refers to him with that name, but that's just my opinion.

Doing it in that way, were gonna have two CRL very similars, but I think it's going to be more accurate.

Scowling is not the only look for an officer, neither do you have to be smiling like Mr. Friendly.

An officer is a professional and the single most important thing you can do is stand up straight and have good posture.  Keep your head up and meet the gazes of the people you meet.  Make sure your uniform is as sharp as you can make it.  Be cordial but composed.  Be direct with your answers.  Try not to hold something that takes away from what you are doing.  If you are drinking anything, only do it while standing, never walking.  And try not to eat in front of the public.  Keep your right hand free whenever possible.  Even if we do not salute, people that have been in the military will notice this as a second nature.

You can smile.  You can scow.  You can pretend to be a character from one of the films one that you think fits what you are doing.  But remember that the public may not see it that way.  Go with your instincts and remember that an unless you are a power hungry moff or admiral, an officer serves the mission and takes care of his men.  As a costumer who is not burdened by heavy armor, you are one of the few people that can look out for their welfare.

Lets see... since as an Admiral I also double as an Imperial Support Crew (handler) for our bucketed friends. When with Vader and it's time for a break, I walk away, come back 2 min later... "Lord Vader, the Emperor commands you to make contact with him..."

To children: "Do you like school? The Emperor needs smart cadets. Do you want to fly tie fighters? Or storm rebel bases as a storm trooper? Or crush rebellion will driving AT-ATs? Or would you rather command all of that and more as an Imperial Officer?"

When one of our Mandelorean Mercs comes by, "Bounty hunters, we don't need their scum. Those rebels won't escape us."

    Other misc phrases:
    We have a visitor.

Good. Our first catch of the day.

Track them! They may come round for another pass.

    Alert Command. Deploy the fleet.

We have thousands of probes searching the Galaxy.

Take this... thing, to the detention block.

I have a good crew, a bunch of rowdy TKs, and a Vader with a quick wit, so impromptu happens with ease.

    Thanks!

Veer's uniform is no different than Piett, Ozzel's or Needa's in ESB
Motti's uniform is no different that Tagge's in ANH
It is a combined service.   The guys in green with specialization to do different things.

Now the guys in black... they are something different.  On the Death Star those were Krennic's men.   The run the docking bays, guard the data vault, staff the detention bays, control the shield gates, run the shields on the second death star..... all of that has a thread running through it: security.  And the guy that designed the uniforms in question called them: Security and Stormtrooper branch.  Granted I am not a fan of calling them stormtroopers because some of them would not fit into armor.  But security sounds like a nice fit.  John Mollo considered them the SS of the empire.  They are right there with the army and navy guys doing their own thing with an ideological bent to their mission.

As you can see in the hashtag.  Dillon gave this to us because he thought we would act on it.  These are going to be the same uniforms, ranks and costume designer for Solo as was in Rogue One.  Disney is using economies of scale.

I think someone who was not in the military came up with the name staff officer. They are not the same thing as in the real world military. We have seen them in charge of bunkers, in charge of navy troopers, in c&c centers, and with R1, with rank and more responsibility. That is the reason I chose to make a staff officer. There was some talk a few years ago about trying to change the name, which I am all for, just for this reason.

the old visual guide said that.
West End Game's RPG called them "battle station operations".

The costume designer for Rogue One and the Solo movie calls them "security services".  They seem to be more skilled than your average stormtrooper as they do all sorts of things.  If we see them in any armor like that of Veers, it is going to be a definite nope.

I am excited for the movie.

Veers to ACD made sense.  From a pure military point of view, ACD (Armored CAVALRY Detachment - emphasis on the second word) Veers was commanding the Empire's "Cavalry" - AT-AT and AT-ST walkers.

Thrawn, Price and Tarkin are not commanding Cavalry.  They are effectively Generals on the field.  And a General is a commanding OFFICER.

Tarkin is an Officer if he's in armor for field work or bunny slippers because he doesn't like the feel of his boots.  Sorry, but I'll ride and die on that hill, "feelings" be damned.

If I understand this correctly you think that all black uniforms in ANH are the Fahrenheit 451 uniforms. That is not the case. The ranked officers are wearing the 451 uniforms and the warrant officers might or might not be wearing them, we can't be sure due to bad reference pictures, but I can assure you that the navy troopers that wear tunics are not wearing the Fahrenheit 451 version. On page 21 of the book Star Wars Costumes The Original Trilogy it says that New York police tunics were used for the imperial guards, which we know as navy troopers in dress uniform. If you look at the research done by TK1066 and me, you can see that the statement of book is correct. I researched the navy troopers in ANH because I thought that the warrant officers in ANH are just navy troopers with a hat instead of the helmet.

So would that make an Navy Trooper helmet an optional accessory for a staff officer rather than rank badges / code cylinders an optional accessory for INs?

That makes no sense. "Armoured officers".
The clue is in the name.
