  1. A note about their flightsuits, they are approvable but do require some work to get it there. For example, the compad window is too small and will need to be widened. Some others have had to remove some pockets and put them in the appropriate places. Not difficult, but requires some minor work.

So moving forward, the creation of the cadet uniform would include the write-up of the CRL? I drafted a potential CRL for a CW Maul variant last year, it was fun but took ages by myself. I'm more than willing to start a shared google doc or upload a PDF so this CRL can be adjusted as people see fit. As of right now, I'm going to tweak the Line Officer basic requirements while taking a closer look at the reference images in the comics.

The comics present another issue I'm not sure now to tackle: How seriously do we take discrepancies in the illustrations? A seam here, a wrinkle that looks like a dart there, that sort of thing. Do we assume the uniform is a variant of a standard, or an entirely new garment?

    Thanks everyone!

First place to start would be to gather up images and resources for the cadet uniform. The proposed CRL would need to match exactly how it looks in the comics. As for the discrepancies, I don't necessarily have the answer, but that discussion with other members may prove useful. One feature of the tunic that I recall is that the yoke doesn't come up to the shoulder like in the "standard" tunic, but is more similar to the ANH ISB officer. That's just an example.

After that, you will likely work with the CRL team in drafting the words of the CRL in conjunction with the creation of the uniform itself. We now have a policy that no CRL will be made without an accompanying costume to go with it.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!!

  3. The alterations that you might experience are more fitting things. For example, one of my uniforms, the yoke part that comes up to and attached to the shoulder was longer than it should, so I needed to get that shorted. Also, the collar usually needs to be changed a bit so it can close properly. Others may need other parts to fit better. But it's nothing that would prevent getting approved.

  4. Hello Eric,

Thank you for your submission. I do not normally handle Imperial Crewmen and Navy Troopers. Tristian does. I have notified him of these pending submissions, but between work and Celebration (which he is very busy preparing trading cards for people for that convention), he is very busy right now. When he has time, he will try and look at this submission. We just kindly ask for your continued patience during this very busy time for us right now.

    Thank you again.

  5. For higher levels of approval, definitely read the thread about "What we look for", and also look at previous recent cleared approvals for a Staff Officer. This will give you an idea of what we expect, the quality we look for, and how to present your pics.

At what level would the extra holes NOT be allowed?

I would approve a belt with holes up to L2. But, for L3, it would depend on the Officer they were replicating. If the officer they were dressed as had holes in their belt, then holes would be acceptable. If they didnt, then holes would not be allowed. So for L3 it would be a case by case basis

  7. Historically, Cosplaysky neck collars have always been much larger than they should be. This is why I usually recommend to people who order from CS to include a Neck measurement in the Notes section of the order, if you did custom. However, I had never heard to bird feces actually being on the costume itself though. That is crazy!!

As for their customer service, I have usually had pretty good service from them via email, but I know they are usually more willing to work with you if you custom ordered rather than bought something right off the shelf. I dont necessarily have a specific person to talk to, I just email the info@cosplaysky.com email address posted on their website, and whoever answers, answers. I am really hoping they will work with you to rectify the problem.

    Good luck!!

  8. Those boots wouldn't be approved unfortunately. The top is all wrong and the stitching and strap on the front of the foot are all wrong.

If you're looking for an affordable basic boot, you should look for a pair of PVC boots. Ovation Derby/Cottage are good.

  9. For boots, it depends if you want to just get boots that are approvable, or if you want to go all out and get L3. Hessen Antique sells excellent riding boots with the strap to get L3, but they're a bit pricy. If you're looking for something more affordable, you'll likely just be looking for a basic PVC riding boot like Ovation or something. It'll get approved, but that's more or less it.

ETA: Sean, that does help. Thanks! I'll try to find any executor/imperator approval threads specific to R1 (well, non-Krennic ones), in an effort to learn the whys/why nots you might have discussed in such threads.

ETA 2: Sean, to be clear (given the wording in the CRL), for level 3 approval would I need to find a specific still of a particular staff officer in R1 wearing (everything that follows, all on the same guy) MAJ rank, black uniform, with boots, with a specific number of cylinders? Or--as the wording in the CRL seems open to on this front--the rank is considered good to go (per IOC rank guide/Glyn Dillon) without a specific still photo, and for the black uniform in boots part it's widely enough acknowledged to not need a still? What about x-number of cylinders for a specific guy/rank, given the above and current interpretation of cylinders' importance?

Good questions, Geoffrey. For Level 2, any of the ranks given by Dillon would work. However, for Level 3, only those officers seen in either R1 or Solo that you can get a decent screenshot of would be approved. That way, you would exactly replicate the on-screen officer's configuration of number of code cylinders, belt boxes, etc., but only for L3.

  11. To answer a separate concern, I have approved R1 Staff Officers in the past, however, the slight differences Kris mentioned above would be required (although not explicitly mentioned in the CRL). That means you could wear a "normal" black Imperial tunic, with a rank bar from R1, but I would also look for correct code disk on the hat (no notch), correct belt boxes (smaller ones),  and code cylinders with silver clips, just to name a few (for example).

    Hopefully that answers your questions.

  12. Hello Eric,

I have now reviewed your submission for an Executor promotion for your Imperial Staff Officer.

Overall, I think you have a great looking uniform. You look very sharp in it. However, before I can approve your promotion, I would like to request the following:

    • Could you please provide side pictures in your costume. This is mainly to see how the hat sits on your head.
    • Could you please provide a back picture of your tunic to show that the circumference seam runs around the entire tunic

Lastly, I would also highly recommend giving your uniform a good ironing and/or steaming. There are a lot of wrinkles on the uniform, and we would like our Officers looking their sharpest for their promotions. Also, I would also request that you put stirrups on your jodhpurs if you havent already. There appears to be a lot of bunching happening at the top of your boots, and stirrups would really help with this. After you have done all of this, I would kindly request that you re-take your full photos (head to toe), front, back, and both sides.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask me. Good luck!!

    Cheers,
