DarthFunk83 reacted to Steven in Line/Staff Officer Service Dress, proposal.
I couldn't agree more to these two statements. I've seen enough sloppy officers, which does not depend on if Staff/ Line/ or Science Officer. If someone doesn't take care about his uniform, it doesn't matter which uniform he has hanging in his wardrobe, it will always look sloppy.

And especially for troops that last more than two days, like my last troop in Nuremberg, it is very comfortable to wear Chelsea Boots instead of Riding Boots for one day. Also if you attend a wedding, like I did at the begin of september, it looks not so military like it would with riding boots, but you are still representing the Empire in an very well dressed way.

So yes, these configurations should definitely happen. Now with the new CRL style perhaps like it was mentioned before, one version Line Officer Dress Uniform, one version Staff Officer Dress Uniform and the Science Officer as third and very specific version. I don't think we should get rid of the Science Officer CRL, we tend to create new CRLs but not to delete old one, except when they are really outdated. And I can totally live with the "no hat" thing, Admiral Gorin in R1 didn't wear a hat either, as did Tarkin, General Romodi, Yularen, Prye, Krennic for most of the time, and so on.

I really wish this scene was kept in the movie. It would have made a bit more sense from the transition from Corellia to Mimban. Also, I do like the open face TIE helmet. Its like the TIEs in Star Wars Legacy

I don't have a blaster either, so for my profile photos, I do the typical "pointing at the camera" or "military stance" poses, as Kris suggested

    Hello Liam,

Regarding the modesty panel. Its basically a piece of fabric behind the collar. I've posted a picture of mine so that you can see. It has the eye hooks on it to close the collar. Your uniform, unfortunately, doesnt seem to have one. A modesty panel would need to be installed (it shouldnt be hard) for this uniform to clear.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask me. Good luck!!

    Hello Liam,

I have now reviewed your submission for an Executor promotion for your Line Officer.

Overall, its a well-made uniform, and fits you nicely. However, before I can promote you, I will need the following pictures:
I will need a top-down photo of your belt buckle showing that there is a slight horizontal curve I will need to see a picture of the modesty panel, showing that it closes with 2 eye hooks If you could provide these pictures, I think we can clear this uniform. Its been a long process, but we'll get there.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask me. Good luck!!

GMLs rarely are that strict with color. Some might be, but most aren't. I've also posted in the 181st section of the JRS telling people how to get the 181st dress uniform cleared with a CPS uniform, so they know.

That's actually a great question. I have a thin pouch that I use to store my credit card, some money, trading cards and challenge coin. I have a second pouch on the back for my phone. And if I don't have either pouch, I have my fiance lol

I have a giant duffle bag/suit case that I put everything in. Otherwise, if I am trooping with my TIE pilot too, I'll shove my officer stuff in my tote with my TIE as well.

DarthFunk83 got a reaction from captsafe66 in Why did you come to the 501st?
I actually learned about the 501st back in 2010 at Calgary Expo. I talked to them because they were all Star Wars nerds, and I really wanted to join them. They were all stormtroopers mostly, and none really knew officers that well (and a Grand Admiral was what I wanted to make). I didn't make any costume progress for several years because I didn't know how to sew, and they always said "we make our own costumes." I then bought the Star Wars boxset on BluRay, and watched Star Warriors, the documentary on the 501st, when it was released and that reignited my interest. However, being a poor student didn't allow me to make any purchases. Finally, back in 2014 I went through a lot of personal difficulties (as well as professional difficulties) and had to start a lot of things over. I then started dating my now fiance and she encouraged me to go for it. So, I joined the IOC forums back in Sept 2016 (I think) and never looked back.

Why an officer? I loved Grand Admiral Thrawn. He was my favorite Star Wars character. Not just from the books, but from all of it. Tarkin was also a close second. They were "regular" beings with incredible intelligence and determination (without the power of the Force) and managed to rise through the ranks of the Empire to weld incredible power. Also, I always wanted to command a Star Destroyer.

DarthFunk83 got a reaction from Duchessina in Was the empire really evil ?
I don't necessarily agree. The way I read that crawl, that could be propaganda from Rebels. It's like real life, one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist.

I also know the EU very well, and there's a theory out there that Palpatine made the Imperial war machine to combat the Yuuzhan Vong. Has the Empire done evil things? Yes. It could be argued that the Rebels did too.

DarthFunk83 reacted to captsafe66 in CRL questions addressed here:
    Greetings IOC,
I was going to post this in a prior thread but decided to start a new one instead of taking over someone's thread.

Something to keep in mind, we worked on almost all the CRL's last year and the LMO team is involved with a lot of cool upgrades for ALL the CRL's.  As much as we'd like to update every detail, we have to remember that the purpose of the CRL system is to provide a guideline for the members and GML's to use in the basic approval process.  The CRL's are meant to be a guide for approval details that are required for approval, not a build schematic for assembling a costume.  Some of the requested updates can be too detailed and not necessary for a CRL.

Build guides are supposed to be in the various build areas of the forum for each specific costume.

With this being said.  We are about to launch the CRL team program.  There will be 2, 3 members teams to work on the details of the CRL's.  One will concentrate on the Imperial era costumes and the other will be working on the First Order area.

We will still take suggestions for new CRL's and updates, but the brunt of the work will be done by the staff and the appropriate teams.  This has been requested by the LMO team, due to the time it has been taking to debate every minute detail in open forum.  Not long ago, we had no say in how a CRL was made, we want to keep in the loop, so to say.

The members that present an idea for a specific CRL will be kept in the process, provided a costume is in the process of being made for a CRL model.  We will not present a CRL to the LMO team without the proper, visual references to even make a CRL and a costume in process for a model.  The LMO team will no longer post an unfinished CRL.

While CRL maintenance is a big part of what we do, it isn't the most important part of the IOC.   The main goal is to provide a platform to assist and encourage new and present members to get and share information in the creation of Imperial and First Order uniforms  and assist them, as needed, in the approval  process.  As well as to have a fun time, helping children of all ages in our various charitable goals.

Ultimately, whatever rank you choose should be one that you want/like to wear. Matt's suggestion is good if you have any interest in going for L2/3 because you'd need to replicate an on-screen Officer. However, if you have no interest in that, then pick whichever rank you like best.
