Hat reminds me of Naboo security Forces. Do we have a shot that gives us any idea what the collar is like under the fur?

It really does, now that you mention it!
No idea, I would imagine that fur collar could hide a multitude of sins! In clearer images you can see the grey FO tunic collar of a Lieutenant at his throat, however I would imagine if you're keeping the coat on at all times on a troop you might not need a full tunic beneath it so long as you've got enough collar showing? Would certainly help with keeping those lines nice and clean.

  2. Oh no by all means keep researching and discussing the costume!
Worst case scenario, discussion just moves/shares across with another detachment somewhere further down the line. :)

And while yes the FO petty officer shared a very similar uniform design to that seen on the Technician, "Technician" is very clearly the name given to this particular configuration with the helmet and all the other new accessories. The FO Gunner used almost exactly the same configuration as our FO TLJ Petty Officer CRL, they used the base uniform costume itself on several different ranks and roles I guess!

  3. Could be worth having a discussion with JJ Industries / Sanotized Creations on FB regarding the possibility of this helmet as they made the FO Gunner helmets between them!

As per the above comments, folks might be onto something with regards to this one ending up with the gunners. Will have to see how this goes.

  4. We can say that we "know" what a Director rank bar is supposed to look like, however this is using a new rank system developed for Rogue One. R1 came out ages after Ysanne's appearance.
We also know irrefutably that the rank system of the Empire is a complete shambles, with very little consistency outside of a handful of face characters. What we piece together and "presume", trying to make sense of it all using information corroborated by other sources. Books, comics, card games, etc. The only ranks we can say are "sure things" are the R1 and Solo ranks, thanks to a rank system (which again, often contradicted a lot of the information we thought we "knew" from previous media) provided by Glyn Dillon. That alone reads to me like a conversation along these lines happened: "oh god this rank system is a nightmare, we should really hammer this down". So they did. Holding the entire back catalogue of Star Wars, Ysanne included who held the title of Director years before Krennic appeared, to the rules set down barely a few years ago doesn't seem right to me. StarWars is a massive, sprawling and expansive universe that has been contributed to by many creators over the decades. Stuff created way back when does not and should not be forced into the same rule structures necessarily as stuff created in the last couple of years.
If blue over red was a mistake, that happened once or maybe twice? Then yes that's an inaccuracy and there is nowhere near the same grounds for inclusion in a CRL under official capacity. The fact that blue over red appeared again, and again, not just in the official comics but in external licensed media such as figurines and card games, shows that whether any of us like it or not? It is an accepted rank bar designation. Any arguments featuring "but Director Krennic" can be shelved, it's  like deciding modern-day rank systems retroactively apply to everything in the past. When Ysanne existed, she existed in her own time with her own set of rules, and during that time, blue over red was an acceptable configuration.
    My two cents, anyway.

  5. Reads a little to me like there should probably only be one line discussing sleeve seams and somehow there ended up being two. XD
Regardless! Pryce's CRL shouldn't have any sway on what happens with a generic Rebels officer, especially as you have reference here showing no 2nd rear seam. :)Previous CRL's are useful springboards for new ones but they don't need to match up, even if they come from the same source, if reference says otherwise!

  6. Heyhey!

There's a veritable trove of info on Thrawn appearance over on this thread:

However I'll pull out the stuff pertinent to wigs!

    Wig options

Wig Is Fashion: Chinese based website with NA/EU/UK shipping options, no short cut options available but many variations on blue lacefront wigs that could be cut to suit. Will also do custom with any existing color, based on photos, in the 100$ range. Your best quality for a low cost option if you can't use your real hair.

    An example from WIF: https://www.wigisfashion.com/collections/blue-wig/products/lf1615

Enchanted Sea: Instagram/Deviant Art, cosplay artist who has done custom Rebels Thrawn wig in the past.

Hero Hair: high end, full custom, film-quality handmade wigs.

Additionally there's Webster Wigs that carry a really gorgeous steely blue colour in a good selection of lacefront wigs, for that swept-back hairline. Run a search there for "Jewel Blue" (Their product links change a lot so thats probably easier!)

  7. Unsure if I'm reading this correctly but were you after a place for boots?
I'm not sure ImperialBoots are doing FO boots anymore. I know that Crow Props (on FB) offers an FO style boot. JDOS props (also FB) might be worth approaching. There's also Magnoli Clothiers but those are pricey (very nice though). I believe the CRL model got his boots custom made so it may be worth reaching out to him for information there. :)

  8. 501st for sure! IOC? Not so much.

I wasn't particularly arguing -for- this costume to become IOC, more that discussions should be had (as soon as someone shows interest in building) regarding where it would sit. If only so that they could be taken under wing by the detachment in which it is most likely to sit under and support the build. :)
That said, no I wouldn't say that as soon as new content appears, discussions need to start taking place to ensure that all costumes are divvied up and given homes as soon as possible. Only when there are folks asking the questions "I want to build this, where would be the best place to start my WIPs?" Advice can always be given to start it up on the main 501st forum of course, but a detachment is heck of a resource to waste if it would be better placed in a better incubator, so to speak!

Personally? I would consider maybe Denizens? They aren't "criminal" enough for Underworld imo even though they are casino guards. It doesn't look like a particularly nefarious casino! Vos's guards would be Grade A Underworld material for sure. :) I agree with the various arguments above, IOC you're really looking at Republic, Imperial or First Order personnel (or departments/branches directly affiliated) in uniform. Folks who are getting their paychecks directly from those military bodies.

Well, like I've been telling everyone lately, make the costume first, then it will go where it will. :)

This is fair, but detachments are usually a good hub for a costume in development to receive input and help from members of the detachment it's gonna end up sitting within? Building a new to legion costume in isolation is.. daunting. Having an idea of where it might sit and reasonably agreeing upon it so that a builder might take advantage of a detachments resources and member knowledge can only be beneficial!

  10. Late to the party but for posterity: I cleared my Hux with a labret (center of lower lip) piercing and four ear piercings, two of which were stretched to a 4mm gauge.
I took my submission photos with a very subtle, clear retainer in my labret, removed my unstretched ear piercings (they wouldn't just close up if jewellery was not worn in them for a day etc) and wore matte, fleshtone plugs in my stretched ears.

This was not only never brought up as part of my approval process, but as I wore the same jewellery throughout my time trooping as Hux (before I removed almost all my facial jewellery around a year ago) it never came up. Not in the locker rooms getting changed, not by my garrison command staff, not by any of the members of the public I encountered on a troop.
I believe that if you go to a concerted effort to remove, or in case of inability to remove, to conceal (stretched ears can either leave unsightly holes or even tighten up without their retaining jewellery, and you really shouldn't repeat the stretch process over and over because you took your jewellery out.. and any mouth piercings are renowned for healing to the point of painful or impossible jewellery re-insertion within a number of HOURS.) that the legion doesn't discriminate.
It might be that you need to use fleshcoloured, low profile, clear or similar retainer jewellery in your eyebrow piercings. With some time and healing, you may be able to comfortably remove for the duration of a troop. At the very least, if you're a slow healer and it may take some time before you can trade out the jewellery, at least that gives you the time to work on your costume etc? :)

  11. Ahoyhoy! :)

Looking really good! I have a couple of questions though after perusing the visual dictionary and trying to squeeze -anything- of use from the movie itself.

    Jacket:

I notice that you've got a prominent cuff seam on the right sleeve, I can't see any sign of that on the jackets. :S Ditto for the rear seams on the sleeves. It doesn't help that solid rear views of this costume are like photos of bigfoot! Is that something that could be resolved? Or is there a reference I'm missing?

    Pants:
Gosh the flaps on the outer thighs from TFA to TLJ really jump! They're a lot wider, which you seem to have nailed here. :) It could just be the angle of the photos being taken but I'm unsure that the angle from the hips, out to the top of the flaps is quite steep enough?
Additionally, the hip-straps (thats the only way I can think to describe those decorative strips of fabric on each hip!) should be present and clearly visible, due to the short length of the jacket.

Aaand finally, it could be because taking photos of black uniforms is a nightmare but, are the thin pintucks on the front of each thigh present? You can see them on all pants of this particular design type in the visual dictionary!
Unlike the TFA thigh-flaps on the outer thigh, I don't believe that the flaps are completely sewn together from the top to the bottom. Creating a really tight trouser leg with flap detail. Rather, they're sewn together for several inches at the top, stopping just after the angle out to the top of the flap ends, then are left open like jodhpurs style pants. Is this how yours have been made? It's really hard to tell on your photos! The curse of black uniforms! XD

    Hi!

Overall this is a superb build!

However, I would also like to point out that on the back pictures there seems to be a presence of the curved seams/top stitching of the back and also one seam running down the material. However, from my own research it appears to be all one piece of material.

I agree, it's tricky to pin down solid screenshots proving this in TFA, however in TLJ you get a few reasonable shots of the back of the same style jacket with no seams present that I can tell:

    EWrcdih.jpg
The very far right of the screen is the curvature of the back of someone wearing this style of jacket, you get a pretty good look at it if you check the movie. :) No seams at all that I can see.

  13. I'll admit I don't have many photos of this costume on suitable backgrounds etc that I'm particularly happy with. If I wanted to get more taken to send through, is there a hard deadline for submission?

  14. There are -so- many instances of double stacked rank bars in the comics, that it would be extremely short sighted to dismiss doubleranks on black uniforms. I'm not even sure why this is being argued again, when clearly enough evidence was produced in the past to warrant the reversal of just such a restriction, surely? Do we have to regurgitate all the comics panels again and again?

Also grey tones are used in comics and general artwork regularly to avoid having to colour black with -actual- black which would look terrible.
