  1. My first officer uniform was (still is) a CosPlaySky “custom”. Tbh I should have just bought a standard size, as they seemed to ignore most of my measurements and instructions.

As you can probably tell from my above comment most of the work my seamstress did was making it appear tailored to my body shape and dimensions.

Apart from that, the specific changes included:
    - stiffening and reshaping the flares
    - tapering the shins. One doesn’t necessarily need stirrups if the lower leg tapers and closes along the slit properly. Whilst we used velcro, if you have a look at Krennic and the Shoretroopers in Rogue one you’ll see they used a lace up method.
    - stiffened the shoulders (personal preference so that I appear more imposing)
    - replaced and enlarged collar modesty flap and fixed the hooks
    - replaced all snaps and added additional where made practical sense
    - fixed vertical seam near throat on tunic.

A word of advice from my seamstress is that the material doesn’t have much “give”. So go easy with it. It’s good for a first or secondary costume, but be aware that it may have limited longevity. That said, after 6-7 years mine is still serviceable

  2. Hello IOC.
I was contacted today and LFL have finally come back to us with info on the Sith Eternal.  The back of the tunic is a straight cut, not pleated, and there are two vertical seams on the back all the way down to the bottom edge of the tunic similar to the FOSB.

Always knew if anyone where to get the bottom of this it would be you, Kris! Well done mate, appreciate your dedication.

    Marvellous news indeed.

  3. Where DOES one get the grey uniform of Admiral Pryce?

    Firstly… oooh, you’re gonna do a Pryce?

Next… this is one of those costumes you’d want looking tailored, so you may just need to go that way. Off the rack doesn’t always look great for high ranking officials.

  4. And then we come to:

Can we include things seen in the graphic novel? Because if so, then rightfully the Mudtrooper shin guard and Second Belt should be added as optional accessories

Were it just the Major wearing the greaves it could be suggested it’s character specific, however did you notice Beckett pictured wearing them too? Definitely suggests that it’s not uncommon for officers to wear the leg armour. Agree on the inclusion.

  5. Thanks guys, I like the work here so far.  @kevair464 were you going to recommend changes of your own, in addition to George's?

I agree we need to keep the weathering fairly optional, at this point.  And regrettably, I'm still of the opinion that the goggles need to go, unless we can find *any* confirmation that they're official Imperial kit and not just Beckett's personal gear.  Their Imperial costumes were a combination of personal kit and stolen gear, and bits of each were kept for later.  And yet Beckett is the only one *ever* seen with those goggles, among all the officers seen.

When we get ready to pick this up I'll likely refine and tweak things a bit further, but I think Kevin still had some input to submit, and we're not quite ready to go hard on this one just yet anyway, so there's still some time.

Off to a great start here, though!

Regarding the goggles, we’ve discussed it before that it can’t be proven either way whether it’s Imperial issue or Beckett’s personal gear. Apologies in advance for labouring on this point.

However, the Mudtrooper v4 CRL clearly features Val’s personal gear too. We don’t see any other Muddies wearing the red scarf, red climbing rope, etc.

Stating what is probably the obvious, and I know detachments do things differently, but shouldn’t we, the Legion, be consistent in our approach?

  6. I’ve never understood the absence of the E10 for this CRL. Even without lightening the stills it was obvious what it was. Love this proposed addition

    And starting the #keeptheofficergoggles movement

  7. Thanks for the advice! I found a great-looking SE-14R to print, so I’ll do that while I find the right patterns!

So I want it to be more grey, but I understand flat grey is not approved by 501st. Are we talking more of an olive grey then?

More what Germans refer to as “feldgrau”. I highly recommend having a look through some of the build threads on the forum, it’s a treasure trove of advice

  8. So I'm very interested in making my own officer uniform, are there patterns or instructions out there? I have sewists who are ready and willing to help me (I sew too!), we just need those and some recommendation on fabric/colors.

I also have a 3D printer, is there any 501st-approved accurate accessories I can print?

If we’re talking Line or Staff Officer, you could print your blaster, or in the case of the Mimban Officer, your chest armour and some of the belt boxes.

Unfortunately FDM, and even resin, lacks the crispness of a metal cap badge, belt buckle, and rank badge.

  9. Haha touché my bias for the goggles is obvious, isn’t it? Lol

With reference to the Beckett photo above though, note how the rank badge is on a raised wedge, if you will. It doesn’t sit flush with the armour. Is that something which needs to be included in the CRL in future? (I ask that bearing in mind the statement that nothing about Beckett is normal )

  10. The Solo VG refers to Beckett’s goggles as “field goggles”, not his personal goggles. IMO it stands to reason that an officer stationed on Mimban may be equipped similarly to troopers, who wear polarised goggles.

One could even argue the semantics and read that caption as “officer’s cap with [officer’s] field goggles”.

  11. Hi Adam,

Welcome! The black uniformed officer is a very popular choice of costume :duim:

My advice to all newcomers is take your time, ask questions when you're uncertain, and do your research (the forums here contain a wealth of knowledge and experience). A great place to start is always the costume CRL, which is the standard your local 501st Garrison staff will assess your costume against. Here's the link to the IOC costume CRLS: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:IOC_CRL

Specifically the black uniformed officer CRL can be found here: Imperial Staff Officer (Non-Saga)

Looking forward to following your progress. Good luck!

  12. These boots again depend on the GML. An officer in my garrison was approved with them, but I was declined by the new GML with them. Ask your GML before you buy.

It’s important to understand on what grounds the boots were declined, however I’d be challenging that. I own the Dublin Universal Tall Boots which are a similar PVC construct and have been approved to L2.
  13. Police officer is the more common one, particularly since Victoria Police changed their uniform to a very dark NYPD style - I wear a staff Officer costume.

Have been confused for a security guard at a Lego show, and someone wearing a period chauffeur costume at a car show (never get separated from the rest of your troopers lol).

Naturally I’ve had the ever unsavoury “Nazi”. Always an unpleasant association.

  14. Or even Star Wars Staff Officer (R1/Solo)

The visual guide refers to Lt Putna as a “librarian-turned-security-officer”, so why not just called the black uniformed R1/Solo CRL “Security Officer (R1/Solo)”? It helps makes a clear delineation between the OT and the Anthology uniforms.
