DonnyD68 reacted to eliste in Just saw Rogue One!
The rain capes are very cool, and go much further down on the body than I expected which is awesome. Actually useful. I want one for trooping.

DonnyD68 reacted to skelitor120 in Just saw Rogue One!
I went to the local theatres and, without even planning it, joined a cadre of other Star Wars cosplayers in taking pictures. I was wearing my unfinished Staff Officer uniform, and stood alongside a couple TKs and Jedis and the like.. Unfortunately didn't get a picture of my own, but will post it as soon as I inevitably find myself tagged on Facebook!
Here's my official, no-spoilers review of the movie:
It's good You should see it.
I'm mostly excited by the variety of new CRLs the 501st will see from this movie: Death Troopers, Shore Troopers, Imperial Ground Crew, Imperial Armored Crew, Imperial Officer coats, Director Krennic, and a few others.

DonnyD68 reacted to skelitor120 in Hessen Antique boots won't fit! - UPDATE
I'm actually wearing a turtleneck so my neck compresses a bit comfortably for the collar, and also because CosplaySky left a sizable gap underneath the hooks the shows through to the skin below. Otherwise yeah, the only issue I have with the entire uniform is with the boots. Deke did a great job stretching them but I think they're beyond salvagable. I need to either get zippers put in on the inside or sell the boots entirely.

DonnyD68 got a reaction from kman in A little something I threw together
That is somewhat of a loaded question (lol). It is a classic Revell Star Destroyer model kit, painted and lit. I drilled several hundred 1/32" holes into the window ports. Then fed and glued a 1/32" strand of fiber optic cable into the drilled hole. I bunched them into groups and attached them to various white source LED's throughout the model. The engines are lit by 7 blue LED lights and I also used a white LED to illuminate the underside docking bay.

Wow that is incredible!! It is truly a piece of art. Have you considered making the Death Star?

Oh man I totally want to do that. What set is it?? How did you mount the lights??

That looks awesome! Although yes, ideally, some of those lights could be removed so it's a little less Christmasy. Perfect for the season, though!

DonnyD68 reacted to kman in Are these gloves good?
Oh, and those eBay gloves are basically the same as the Leather Mystics gauntlets, which are actually a little cheaper. And I like giving money to a small family business.

Same issue applies, however... they won't pass for level 3.

Just one of my (way too many) hobbies. I built it a couple of years ago. I went a little overboard lighting it, but still one of my favorite builds.

For level 3, however, our detachment leaders want to see TIE Pilot-style gloves with the 3 rows of stitching on the back.

Thanks Bro. I have a bunch of models I used to light up for Christmas. We moved recently though and I haven't set them all up yet. My man cave is a wreck right now.

DonnyD68 reacted to skelitor120 in ANH 2nd Lt. Staff Officer Code Cylinders?
I think that you can gauge it by the importance of the officer. More cylinders = Higher rank. I know that Commanders only get two, Admirals only get 3 and the only one with 4 is Tarkin. So I'd assume anything lower than Commander would probably use no more than 2

DonnyD68 reacted to Centauri in [ROGUE ONE] Line Officers COAT ?
ACTUALLY ....
There has already been a discussion regarding those trench-coats , and i hate to bring it up again but i have identified those coats months ago alongside Krennic's blaster and boots . The topic you are looking for is this one : http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6059-rogue-one/&page=3
Thing is on those most recent pictures they don't quite look like rubber , so many it's the same kind of coat / pattern but made out of heavy duty fabric . After all those coats weren't exclusively used as rain-coats but were also wind-proof and dust-proof . Or maybe it's just rubber but matte instead of somewhat shiny . Can't wait for the Visual Guide , i'm sure it'll provide valuable informations and pictures as usual . After all they were kind enough to mention what was Hux's greatcoat made of in the TFA one , so they should mention the material for those coats as well . If they are indeed rubber coats they will be easy to find ... Sort of
Hmm ... They really look like they're made of heavy-weight fabric though , the parka kind of fabric , most likely treated to be water-proof as well . The have too many folds to be made of rubber . Dammit , we'll need to go custom made again ...
