  1. I would like to see the knobelbechers. I wonder if they would be good to level 3.

There is a good chance they will be, but the JRS do not award/recognize/adjudicate level 2 and 3. If it makes you happy, go for level 3. They are in the CRL because of the Legion, but the Detachment is just one big happy family.
We're all pilots, levels be damned.

  2. You would be much better if going custom. I purchased off the shelf XL. It fit perfectly most areas except the neck was a bit too big. My tailor couldn't do anything about the neck. I ordered custom, neck fit perfectly, tailor just adjusted the length of the sleeves up 1/2" and added stirrups. Go custom, you'll save money in the end by not having your tailor making all kinds of alterations.

  3. Custom. And I contacted them about possibly expediting my order. That wasn't happening. They are custom made in Spain, shipping from there can take at least a week. They said they'd contact me when they arrive stateside about overnighting from there. I'm not worried. One thing this hobby has taught me is patience. I've not been screwed over by a vendor yet. I'll get my boots eventually.

It could be worse.  They could be like Anovos, which happily takes your money in advance and then make you wait 1-2 years (sometimes more) before delivery the product you ordered.  Hessen only charges when they have product ready to ship, which seems more honest to me.  I see your point, however... bummer about the accounting error.

Not in my case. I placed my order on Feb 22 and they charged my credit card on Feb 23. I have yet to receive notification that they are finished and ready to ship. I was hoping to have these for Celebration, but 9 weeks pushes the date out to the end of April. Oh well.

  5. I'm tweeking the design of the 3D printed glueing template, and I figured I'd make a template for two button three button and four button while I'm at it.

The spacing for the four button looks to be about the same as the six button: 1/4" at each end, with a 1/8" space between the buttons.

However I can't find a reference for the dimensions of the spacing of the two and three button rank bars. Can anyone help me out with these measurements?

    Thanks

  6. Would this be helpful? I slapped up a quick jig on Tinkercad to help space out the buttons. I haven't actually used it yet (waiting for Amber buttons to come in) but it would probably work best if left in place while the glue dried.

    Edit:

I updated the tingiverse file to a more accurate 1/4" space between the buttons.

I also added 2, 3 and 4 button jigs as well as the updated 6 button.

Unless things have changed, Transparent are the way to go. It;s the same button I have linked in the first post of this thread

Yes, I saw your links, they are the correct parts, but the wording (Transparant/Translucent), and the wording on the suppliers sites are off compaired to the manufacturers data sheet.

EAO is the manufacturer; Newark, Mouser, Allied, are all distributers.

(Trying to add a .pdf of the relevent page of the manufacturers data sheet.)

To summarise from thea data sheet

EAO 01-901.6 is translucent/translucent Blue (the part number you linked in your first post) So "Translucent" would be the correct description

EAO 01-901.2 is translucent/translucent Red (also a part number you linked in your first post) also "Translucent" would be the correct description

EAO 01-982.4 is transparent/translucent Yellow (the prefered one as the translucent is solid yellow not transparant amber looking) So "Transparant" would be the correct description in this case.

Just trying to clear up any confusion so if people decide to make thier own, like me, the correct part numbers can be provided.

Yup.  The "yellow" from Mouser is the perfect Amber.  It's the one in my photo above.  (The blues are from Newark)

Looks like the alternates from Mouser will work as well, so not much point to ordering from Newark.  Although the red from Mouser looks just a little odd to my eye.  Close enough, I think, so not really worth order from two separate companies.

Zaphod, do you have the product links for each of those, from Mouser?

    Yeah sure.

Just to clarify, Mouser Transparant Yellow, and Mouser Translucent Blue and Red are the ones I should post links to?

Opps my bad i put in the wrong link and now i cant find the right one doh, what concerns me with the ones you mentioned is this statement from a customer

Hello, I Ordered Some 01-901.4, And The Color Is A Solid Yellow, Rather Than The Translucent Yellow Shown In The Photos. Do You Have Any That Look Like The Photo? Maybe A Different Part Number?

I read that, and the response makes sense too.

The photo is of a Transparent lense not Translucent.

I'm requesting samples of Red, Blue and Yellow in Transparent and Translucent. I will post pics when I get them (my work does a lot of business with Newark)

From what I can see, the main difference between series 01 and series 31 are the dimensions

    Series 01 - 12.8 x 18.8 mm (1/2" x 3/4")

    Series 31 - 15.3 x 21.5mm (5/8" x 7/8")

Edit: I just found the link for the tutorial on the Rank Bars the 01 series was used in that tutorial.

Ignore the "SQ" in the description.  It's the right link.  Several people, myself included, have ordered from it.

    Hi Kman,

Can you give me your opinion on these?

Newark 01 Series Yellow Push Button Are they too yellow? Should they be more amber looking?

It is the Yellow version of the same 01 series of push button switches.

    Blue part number EAO #01-901.6

    Red part number EAO #01-901.2

    Yellow part number EAO #01-982.4

It would be nice to get all from the same supplier and save on shipping costs.
