  1. @Theblueguy808 lots of guesses are being done by the LMO office all the time.  But they are completely different kinds of guesses.

And if this leeway which has been in the CRL guide for years is no longer applicable, then the head LMO should codify what he wants to do instead of ignoring it and saying his hands are tied.

If it does not pass... then simply our new creators will go where they are wanted.  That has already sort of happened and that is bad for us as a legion.
    What kind of guesses exactly?

  2. I do have some news.  We never gave up and we tried contacting any source who would have first hand knowledge on this.

We just got a hold of the actress that portrayed the Sith Captain.  Her name is Rochenda Karen Sandall.  Granted it is hard to remember exactly what she wore, but we gave her the selection of styles that was provided by the LMO @Hask.

She remembers that it did not have a split panel.

But we didn't stop there, We took this to Glyn Dillon who was an assistant costume designer for the sequel trilogy.  We did the same thing.

As with Ms. Sandall he picked the one without the split.

As guesses go, this is as about as grade A as you can get.  A close encounter of the third kind by people that made, designed and wore the costume.  It is also the same as what our applicant Stephanie did.

I would hope that in light of this new evidence it would be enough to sway the LMO office, but I am not sure.

I am going to take this to legion council shortly.  Again, I am the only one here that can speak in the Open Council.  Please speak to your representatives if you want to have your voice heard.

Well you're not the ONLY one here that can speak in open council. Those of us who are COs or XOs can as well. Lol

There is still a chance that the LMOs won't approve it. Even though the sources are the best we can get, each one of them says they don't remember and basically giving a guess. All of this is hanging on a guess. I would keep that in mind.

  3. I saw that. That is the exact reason I jumped on here today after so long being silent. Oh well. If the 501st doesn't want me or my costume, thats not my problem. I know the quality of my work and I will continue to hold my head up. Its just a shame that a whole heap of people who love this costume are being told there is no hope and are being put off by the drama.
I think there's more references for the Tech than the Officer.

  4. Of course! My ISB officer is what I started off with. White also helps keep you cool in the summer. But it still gets pretty warm outdoors just like here in Hawaii. You get used to it eventually. Just gotta learn your limits in the costume.

Feel free to message me if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to help anyway that I can.

Nicholas "Dimination" Dimini, requesting an IOC Advisor in the Trade, Tennessee, United States area for help with a Imperial Staff Officer (Black) costume.

I've previously had an IOC Advisor for this, but he's no longer an Advisor. Trade is a fairly remote location, so I'll list some larger cities near me that people might be familiar with:

    • Boone, NC
    • Charlotte, NC
    • Johnson City, TN
    • Knoxville, TN
    • Bristol, VA
    • Roanoke, VA

    Thank you in advance!

Aloha Nicholas, i'm nowhere near you but I can offer any advice if I can. Feel free to pm me.

I wanted to buy an uniform from MazCave. It seems pretty legit to me and I already asked happy buyers about the quality. Do you have experiences with MazCave?

Yes! A thousand times yes! They're pricey for my taste but everyone I know that has gotten outfits from them have said nothing but good things. Highly recommend.

  7. THIS.

Yes, I get that we aim for best possible accuracy, but that should not prevent A.) ongoing development as new reference material comes to light, which is frankly ALL THE TIME with MANY costumes
or B.) a CRL being approved in the first place when it is lacking something that will not prevent the costume from being widely recognized by fans.

Getting so persnickety about insignificant details is super discouraging to members who put lots of time and effort into their costumes, especially when it seems to boil down to subjectivity rather than objectivity, with no clear standard being applied across all CRLs, as has been pointed out.

At the end of the day we're dressing up as plastic spacemen to make kids happy for charity.   The back of the outfit can always be adjusted when better reference material surfaces.  No reason to prevent it from having a CRL when other costumes have been approved with less reference material.
You may think it's insignificant but it could mean the approval or denial of future submissions. We've seen time and time again when members build a costume but are denied approval because it doesn't meet the new standards of the CRL. I know Kris's team is trying to prevent that from happening.

  8. I am wondering if we will see Isard or an Isard inspired character.

There is an opportunity to have a character here young and then to see them again in the Mandalorian time setting years later.
I try not to hope for too much but oh man would either one of them be a good antagonist to the series.

  9. I only know about the screencap that shows the yoke and searched the internet back and forth to get further info. The Lego minifig suggests that there might be some sort of vertikal or maybe even princess seams, but no way to see anything due to the phenomenal illumination.

CRL draft looks good to me, but there are to things regarding the tunic where I have questions if

    - Do we have any information how the chest yoke is attached?
If we can confirm that it was attached with hooks and bars I'm ok with that, otherwise I would leave it to the applicant how they want to construct it.

    - Same question regarding the front closure
Do we have references? I think as they used something similar for the FO Lieutenant/Captain it could be the same construction method. But again I wouldn't like to demand something that can't be proven by references.

I could also ask the same question about the seam around the waist, but as it's important to get the tunic a good fit I'd just include it.

Maybe someone here knows how to contact Stella Atkinson (the assistant costume designer of Ep IX) to answer these questions. At least Glyn Dillon guessed that she is meant on the rankbar as "Stels" is her Nickname and whilst taking into account her job it would make sense.

As I thought. Sadly too many questions still up in the air for this one. Would very much like to do this costume one day. If Glyn Dillon were able to give us insight into it's construction, I believe this would greatly help our progress in finishing the CRL or at least plugging up the holes we have.

  10. Talking from experience, I cannot stress enough how much better having boots that fit you. Not just in the foot but in the calf as well. If you have calves bigger than 18" in diameter at the thickest point your options decrease dramatically. You're gonna have to get custom boots. That's not necessarily a bad thing because custom boots, if fitted correctly, will be the best boots to get. Especially if it's from Hessen Antiques for the quality mentioned earlier.

  11. Well, not exactly.  The costumes are not based on toys.  The costumes are all based on 3D models used for the show's animation.  The toys are based on the same models, but toys have been shown, time and time again, to sometimes make changes, sometimes small, sometimes not.  Our costumes are based on the costumes seen on screen in the actual show, not the toys, as a result.

But yes, Pryce and Thrawn would be a good place to start.
No I heard an interview with Dave Filoni that the artistic design of the show was that of the Kenner toys that they grew up with like the Clone Wars was based off paintings.

I am just curious if anyone is looking in to adding Admiral Titus costume to CRL?, would be potentially interested in weather or not it’s similar to Line Offer fabric apart from the symbols on tunic and hat?

The thing about any costume from Rebels is that all the characters costumes are based on toys. Which is why they look plastic. So to convert it to real life I'd look at the CRL's we already have for Pryce and Thrawn to get your bearings.
