  1. In fact I think we can start creating a draft based on the pre-existing Non-Saga officers, given that the weapon and holster should in any case be an optional item.

First I think we should confirm if we are going to propose three versions: normal officer, officer with semi-armour (chest and back) and officer with full armour (chest, back, shoulders and biceps).

If so, I propose the following for version 1 (in orange the changes from pre-existing CRLs):

    IMPERIAL SENATE SECURITY OFFICER (NON-SAGA)

    VERSION 1

    Hair and appearance

    • Applicants may style hair, facial hair, alter eye color, or use makeup, to emulate any character that wears this costume, provided the example is from a licensed LFL source.
    • When not emulating a specific character’s appearance, applicants are encouraged, but not required, to adhere to conservative hair stylings and grooming of a military nature.

    Imperial Hat, Black
    • Hat is OPTIONAL but only if a specific referenced licensed character’s typical uniform configuration is copied in full, and does not typically include a hat.
    • Fabric is a medium weight suiting material matching the pants and tunic if applicable.
      • Cavalry Twill or a Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
    • Black color matches the pants.
    • Base of the hat is conical, with a crown about 4" (101.6 mm) tall.
    • Front and rear “flaps” overlap on the sides, with the back flap over the front, and are about 4 inches (101.6 mm) high.
    • Front bill extends 3" down, decorated with (5) (6) or (7) concentric stitches.
    • Imperial Code Disk is positioned in the center of the front vertical "flap."
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Code Disk has NO notch detail on the outermost disk.
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
    • All "flap" outer edges shall be wrapped with bias tape made from the same fabric as the rest of main hat material.
    • Code Disk exactly matches screen-used prop.

    Tunic, Royal Blue
    • Fabric is a medium weight suiting material matching the trousers (and hat, if present) and hat.
      • Cavalry Twill or a Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
      • Fabric must be Royal Blue
    • Tunic is double-breasted with a left over right closure on the tapered yoke.
    • Yoke comes up across the shoulder to the top shoulder seam.
    • The standing collar has square corners, is between 1.25 inches (31.8 mm) to 2 inches tall, and closes snugly.
      • The wearer's neck must not be visible between the closed collar edges.
        • A modesty panel behind the collar closure is recommended to help with this, but is not required.
      • Collar edges are closed together in front with two eye hooks.
    • There are code cylinder pockets on both outside panels of the jacket, from about half way between the top and bottom on the arm hole.
    • Sleeves are long, and without decoration, cuffs or buttons.
    • Sleeves contain 2 seams.
      • One along the bottom and one along the back.
    • Tunic is constructed with no top-stitching (stitches visible on the exterior surface of fabric)
    • Fasteners on the uniform should not be visible.
    • Uniform is to be pressed and free of a wrinkled appearance.
    • Optional: Up to two (2) hooks may be added through the sides of the tunic to hold belt in place. Hooks must be black.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • There is a dart present on the top center of the yoke.
      • The dart may vary in size due to the size of the wearer's individual tunic and how it fits, but should be between 2 to 4 inches (50.5mm to 101mm) in length. Typically, but not always, the dart ends at or below the top of the code cylinder pocket.
    • There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a seam line which should be hidden by the uniform belt.
      • The front placket of the tunic may omit this seam only if the uniform belt is worn in a manner which conceals the omission.
    • The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turns outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center.
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
    • Tunic must be secured on the right side by snaps or buttons, not Velcro.
    • A lining is sewn in.

    Rank Bar
    • See the Imperial Rank Bar page for a list of allowed ranks.
    • Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on a single or double metal or metal looking bar(s).
    • Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart, aligned with the code cylinder pocket.
    • Each bar is approximately 1 inch (25.4 mm) to 1.25 inches (31.75 mm) in height.
    • Length is determined by chosen rank.
    • Rank tile dimensions and spacing are appropriate and proportional to the sizing of the bar to allow for even spacing from each other and the border of the bar:
      • Rogue One/Solo rank tile dimensions are approximately 15 mm wide, 21 mm tall and 3.2 mm deep.
      • Mandalorian rank tile dimensions are approximately ½ inch (12.7 mm) width x ¾ inch (19 mm) height x 1⁄8 inch (3.2 mm) deep.
      • Rank tile sizes must all be of one or the other — Not to be intermixed.
      • Please note that final dimensions of the bar may be proportional to the wearer.
    • Rank bar corners are a hard 90 degree angle, or slightly rounded.
    • Rank tiles are translucent, rectangular, positioned side by side in a vertical orientation, and evenly spaced.
    • Only blue tiles are present for Senate Security Officers.
    • Only two or three rank tiles may be present.
    • Color, quantity, and combinations of the tiles/bars are determined by rank, and are appropriate to uniform type/color as supported by licensed reference.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Rank consists of colored plastic push buttons (with white to off white insert) mounted on a metal bar.

    Code Cylinders
    • Between 1 to 4 2 Code Cylinders per costume may be worn.
    • No more than 2 Only 1 code cylinder per pocket.
    • Dosimeter style with correct silver clip (no brass) and Blue top.
    • If only one is worn, it is on the left side.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Only real or replica dosimeters are used.

    Gloves, Version One
    • Black, wrist length gloves constructed of a smooth, non-textured leather or leather-like material.
    • Enclosed fingers.
    • No buckles, straps, etc.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

    • Gloves made of leather.
    • Gloves end just past the wrist.
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
    • Gloves have a notch centered in the edge below the palm.
      • Slit may be straight or rounded.

    Imperial Belt
    • The belt is constructed from a black, non-textured leather or a leather-like material.
    • Approximately 2 inches (50.8 mm) in width, up to 2.5 inches (63.5 mm) is acceptable.
    • There are no loops on the belt.

    • A single silver large snap or rivet is visible approximately 1" (25.4 mm) from the buckle.
      • The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the buckle.
        • It is preferred to wear the snap to the left of the wearer, unless emulating a specific licensed character.

    • The buckle is constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material.
    • The buckle size is approximately 2 ⅛" (66.7 mm) high and 4 ⅛" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners.
    • Buckle is adorned with an un-notched Imperial Code Disk at the center.
      • Please refer to the Imperial Buckle reference page for information on accurate and inaccurate style buckles.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Belt is made of leather.
    • Snap is worn to the left of the wearer, unless a specific licensed character is emulated.
    • Buckle has a slight horizontal curve.

  2. After the week of waiting to avoid spoilers, I would like to start the topic of the Imperial Senate (maybe Security) Officers seen mostly in episode 9 of the second season of Andor.

As far as you can tell this is a classic officer: black trousers and cap, disc on the cap, Andor belt cases and Andor officer boots (with the top adjustment strap). And of course the big difference, the blue jacket.

As for the rank from what I've been able to tell from the various reviews, it seems to me that none of them wear a rank other than two or three blue squares.

Also you can see one or even two extra versions, as some of them wear Aldhani/Ferrix style armour, but sometimes only bib and back and sometimes including shoulder pads and biceps.

You can also see that all or almost all of them carry a blaster with their respective holster, but I have not been able to distinguish the model.

I leave here some (bad) screencaps that I have been able to take. I've already contacted Jim Trippon who made my Security and ISB Officers to see if he can make this one too (Jim, if you're watching this, I hope you find the fabric soon :-P ).

This is an important discussion I would like everyone to be a part of.  There are two parts to it.

One, we want to reflect all of the officer boots used with these uniforms particularly with the non saga officer uniforms.

Two, we want to be as accurate as possible with what we allow in the CRLs.

But collecting all of this information will provide greater options that we want available to those who utilize it.

In that case, just for the record,  I will leave here again the FO boots on ISS :-P

It comes from USA, maybe someone from that side could request a test :-P

  6. On episode 6 we can see some kind of metal piece at each side of the military officers jacket to hold the belt. Can't get any screenshots right now but check minute 6:28 for example, on Colonel Petigar and 6:42 for Commandant Jayhold Beehaz (but I know this would be a completely new CRL). Can't remember if Lieutenant Gorn have this too.

Hi folks! Few questions about this CRL... Can we already face the possibility of adding FO boots for this costume?

And another one, the original plan according to bob's first post here was to also add the NT helmet (from current NT Dress v4), is this still going on or are we going to keep it on the original CRL in the end? Just curious about this last one :-P

    Thanks!

[...]  But some seem quite passionate about it, despite it being painfully obvious that the intent of the costumers was for officers to wear traditional riding boots. [...]

Being the one who proposed this inclusion, I feel the need to respond to this. No, I am not passionate about the inclusion of FO boots in this CRL. I actually have both types of boots and I never intended to wear FO boots with this costume. But this year the mantra of 'if you can see it on the screen, you can wear it' has appeared in 90% of CRL discussions, so it seemed appropriate to me to point out this possibility.

And again since I was the one who proposed this, I would now like to withdraw it. I had planned to make a post about FO boots with adjustment buckle, because there are already several suits where this option is seen -both FO and Non-Saga suits-. I did't want to propose it in the creation of the Military Officer Non-Saga precisely to avoid what is happening here, that we are focusing on a non-essential element and that can perfectly be included later. So in order not to block this thread further, I please ask to move on and return to this discussion on FO boots once the CRL has seen the light, as this really does make me passionate seeing this happens...

  10. I know the suggested solution would be a new CRL, but enough people would pick it just because Chelsea boots are more common and affordable. However, the result would be a lack in uniformity amongst Officers. There are already plenty of easy and very affordable costumes based on jumpsuits and simpler boots. Officer Uniforms are the dressier uniform, and riding boots are often referred to as dressage boots. I don’t think that the boots need to be easier as the uniform itself is more expensive, complex, and requires more tailoring.

There actually is an existing CRL for that uniform, the Imperial Officer: Social. What bob suggests here with chelsea boots is just a reoganization in a single CRL separated by tabs of some pre-existing CRLs.

Another thing is the discussion about FO boots, that whould be a new inclussion as an option…

  11. Just to point out, there actually is some 'regular' FO boots present on official sources for a black uniform officer. Here is an example from R1 Visual Guide:

    37c386eac87af9a1432b7dd96df7ddac.jpg

About if Visual Guides are valid sources or not, I'm sorry for bring up this argument from Sith Eternal Officer discussion again but, are comic books valid sources then? If not, why do we have CRLs completly based on comic references? I know some belongs to other detachments, different staffs, etc. but I think some consistency should be prevalence across the Legion and all their detachments.

Maybe the Legion should make a list of what is a valid source and what it's not. This discussion have come across this forum multiple times specially this last year, and is driving us crazy. Maybe an official list would be a good solution...

Besides that, I propose two versions for FO boots:
    - V1 the one we already know, flat sole, no top adjustment strap, maybe inner zip for higher levels.
    - V2 the hybrid one, conservative heel sole, top adjustment strap, and zip for higher levels.
Of course we still need someone who made it to be added to the CRL, but we can work on a draft before that.

  12. 9 hours ago, kman said:

No we didn't.  It's not in the CRL.

There was talk at one point about adding an option, but that was lost over time, and over debates about including it in the OT CRL.  Now that there is a split, we could talk about it again.

That said, I'd like to see these things somewhere other than the Visual Guides, which have been shown to be inaccurate many times.  I believe we HAVE seen the FO boots worn, and know from production discussions that they were sometimes used when they ran out regular boots.  But I haven't seen the weird hybrid boots anywhere other than the Visual Guide, so far.

Quick search at starwarsscreencaps when at work, I found this one during the battle of Scariff. Yes, it's not a very good reference, even not clear -at least for me- if it's a green or black uniform, but we can see the top stitching from FO boots.

I will try to find better references later this afternoon at home :-P

  13. Love it! When we discussed the Social Officer CRL, I suggested add it as a new version for the old Staff Officer CRL. I’m glad to see this is finnally happening :-D

I would like to suggest the addition of First Order boots, with or without adjustment strap and zipper.

Of course I re-volunteer as model for straight pants/chelsea boots version. Also I can do the helmet + poncho and helmet + armor once I finished this last one.

  14. In general, I agree with the text...

About rank bars, I'm with the opinion of only allow those seen on screen, that is, a single row 3 reds / 3 ambers, or a single row 6 reds. With that in mind, I would remove all references of double rank bars, free choice for tiles combination, etc and move the line that limits the two combinations from level 3 section to basic section.

And no, no code cylinders for this costume as none has been seen for it.

Except for this two points, I think the text is perfect!

  15. As I read in the text, the options that would give rise to a Social Officer v1 and a Science Officer are collected here. My question is what will happen to these two CRLs then, will they disappear? Are they gonna be "duplicated"?

When we started the research for the Social Officer, my initial proposal was to include them in the Staff and Line CRLs as an additional tab, but after taking so long as individual CRLs, I'm not sure if this would be a good idea now...
