I was waiting for the vambraces to be designed from the cham, but I am impatient so started doing a heavy mod on the do3d vambraces
Here are theirs (I didn't photo them before modding).
Mods
There aren't any bands on the inside forearm, so i sanded them down.
The geometry of the raised sections was off, so I send them down
I filled in the spaces with epoxy putty and will make them smooth.
Also there were some pieces missing, so I modeled the trapezoidal flame thrower vent, and the side greeblie raised sections, and added those. And the tubing on the sides needs to be extended.
And now I wait.
I figure that once this is all done cham will have finished the vambraces making all my work moot... but it gives me something to do and nudges the universe to manifest things sometimes. Hah!

So, thanks to the hot toys we have a better view of the jetpack, the sad thing is that what I thought would be ok... Isn't...
I have enough cast off parts to make a whole custom
mando...
As it is, shins are printing.
Need to make mods to the best available legs as none of them are *quite* right.

So I got a standee.... So I can see detail at full size. Very illuminating what details I missed. I sent closeups to one the 3d modelers to ensure a closer detail as he works on the new parts.
It shows some vambrace detail, foot cover detail that was pretty hard to see.
I also have a printed and painted chest plate. So that's neat.
So I'll wait for some updated moff files, through out my orignal knees (or give them to a mando in need)
Found someone to help with casting the ab section, probably using smooth on. So. Many. Steps.

Helmet by chamanleonFX in resin.
This is second helmet I've had in my hand it this is by far the best. So much more accurate than the DO3d.
I've seen the files and printed some parts for mystery maker and his is also very good. Main difference I've seen between the two is that on Chamanleonfx seems to have some more hollow pieces to cut down wright. So that is who I opted for. They are both very good models though.
Put together by Nomad Props.

Yes, the season three belt is a completely different belt. No vertical ribbing, only horizontal. The greebly from s1 and s2 is still different, so no reusing that. As it is integrated into the buckle. It is more "inspired by" form the s1 and s2
I use magnets on my death watch ( 8 of them) and a placement screw, until i have jet pack in hand, I won't know. Screws or posts might be the option, or creating a reinforce plate for it to hook into.
Those files are coming online slowly.

So I'm making some progress on this and I've started some work.
Worming with sheevs emporium we've figured out the suit pattern. Three tichkness of quilting. And using foam instead of batting. The suit is leather.
Helmet from chamanleonfx , currently printing
The cape is similar in cut to the other cape, but is longer. No hex trim. Trim is dark grey almost black. Red lining.
Other armor will also be likely from chamanleonfx or mystery makers. They are not done Desi. Do3d has some inaccuracies, so not using their stuff.
Chest lights from frutto technologies
Boots and gloves seem to basic.
Black Chelsea's for boot? Most is covered by armor.
Basic black gloves, covered by armor.
I will have to figure out how to do jetpack through a cape. Currently thinking rare earth magnets, but will depend onass of jetpack.
Then to create the staff. No research done there yet. Was trying to nail down suit.
Exploring ideas for midsection. It's either foam or rubber. Similar to what the beskar commandos have.
Will update with more progress and pics when at home and when imagur isn't being broken.

I grabbed those images, but I appreciate you posting them here.
I've the helmet files, for both Do3d and Chamanleon and his are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
I had the do3d armor for my first gideon, but it needed mods and they never updated the file.
d03d doesn't have the finalized file, but it'll probably get you there with some notable mods and finishing work to get accurate. I'll be keeping my eye on it.

In looking at it more closely-
I think the top is Vader, the neck looks like a vader suit.
The pants might also be vader, but the attachment point between the top of the leg armor is a little funky. Reminiscent of his belt
Quilted suit, looks Vaderish
Quilted Vader top, neck in vader style. Open at the back here.
Mysterious Ribbing. Looks similar to the belt in width, Radiates out from under the codpiece. EDIT- Gasket seal similar to Sith Trooper.

I had a question come to mind on my recent rewatch of that episode - I hope you don't mind the ping @whitmers!
Other than the missing mustache, are there any differences from S2 to Gideon's outfit in the beginning of the episode? I don't have the best eye for Gideon, I haven't looked into the character a lot. Would be interesting to know if the less armored look is a straight reuse.
As far as I can tell, the only difference in that first scene was the absence of mustache. And I do not mind the ping!

It's possible they might want a piece of gideon, spec ops, officers, bhg.... who will else will come by seasons end. That is above my pay grade, though.
Will know in a week... Maybe.
*shrugs*

The imp knight came to mind, btlut I forgot about star killer and magus.
And of course the ribbing is different because why make anything easy for us?
Looks it would have to be a custom job through and through.
-
I thought it was a different cape too initially, I think it has the trim its just coiled back and not draping the same as its always behind him.
I think it does have the trim, but the lighting is SO DARK.
Though if it is a new cape, hopefully the simplified out that hex trim. Def black cape, with red lining.
Hope we get better images next week.
Also, does any other costume in any other detachment have undersuits with leather ribbing?
-
Yeah, I also think a vader suit would work well for this
Though for best accuracy, i think the arms and legs need to be vertically ribbed as opposed to quilted like vader
That might be one of those level one vs level two/three things.
mark that off easy things.I guess we'll see how the armor shakes out once we get more detail next week and the 3d modelers get to town.
Om most curious about the cape. Is it the same as season 1 and 2, or it different and just in bad lighting?
I've been starting at it for I don't know, hours?
I think it's the same cape, but moutned differently, without the support that they used in s1 and 2.
Which personally makes me happy as I don't ever, ever want to make another version of that cape haha

I'll keep eyes on both spots. I just registered on the spec ops detachment page, and while I don't necessarily want to keep eyes on a 4th 501st forum, I will if necessary. I personally hope it lands here, but that is above my station in this regard.

Thanks! I'm going to keep gathering information and hope to get some better shots soon.
I'll just have to wait a bit to see where it lands too...
Moff Gideon Season 3 - CRL Development
in New CRLs

To ungrumpen the post
So update on this.
All the 3d modelers who had In progress works on Moff Gideon have abandoned the projects as not enough people purchased the files for them to want to put in the effort going forward.
It's annoying as I've been waiting for these files to get finished to move forward.
That said, I'll finish my modified versions above and paint them when the weather isn't awful up here in the PNW.
I'll get back on that horse again. Going for fitting of suit battle armor suit this week, so there's that.
That leaves figuring- a back plate/jetpack combo. I have a jet pack, and it can be good with mods and elbow grease (lots of both).
Leather Suit- pending measures and fitting
finishing vambraces
