  1. Two of the pictures I included are of 'trench coats', #2 is British and #4 is German and they are, as you say, made of wool. So the distinction can't be the material.

In German, there is no distinction separating the two, and they are both called 'raincoats' (regenmantel).

Anyway, it sounds as though it was a decision by the CRL creator, rather than a primary source, so question answered!

  2. A: When it's a great coat.

Is there a reason the garment in the Imperial Military Officer CRL is called a trench coat? I assume there's some primary source for this, but it is strange. That huuuuge collar is the main difference between a trench coat and a great coat. Since they're often inspired by British and German military gear, I've included pictures of both trench coat and great coat.

Anyway, I'm sure it's just named incorrectly in one of the books, but I was very curious to know!

Ponchos are Canon for the black-suited officers, so that's an option without waiting. :)

I know the new CRL for Security Services isn't final yet, but is the poncho approved for all 'black-suited officers', or just the SSU/Staff Officer (Non-Saga)?

I may wait until Andor, but the itch to start buying is becoming overwhelming!

True! and the one from Crow Props isn't... absurdly expensive. My local garrison looks light on olives, so I was leaning that way. But, I must admit, I love to flounce around in a cape and the poncho is the closest I think I'll ever get!

  5. Thanks for the information! I assume the few olive ponchos I saw were grandfathered in following that brief window. I really want to go with a uniform featuring a cape or poncho and am too scared  of the scrutiny (and expense) a Krennic application would be for my first costume.

  6. Hey all! I've seen three separate members claim that they were approved as line officers with an olive drab poncho. As far as I was aware, and according to current CRLs, the only acceptable ponchos are black (Imperial Staff Officer Non-Saga) and white for Krennic. Are there any other costumes or characters that can be approved with a poncho and is the olive poncho approvable for any at all?
