  1. Hey there. The officer you are talking about is the open circle fleet (naval officer). From my point of view the fabric os a dark anthrazite or black.

The existence of the cap is not a diffence. The only difference, from what I have seen, is that the grey one can wear a cap or not and tis one always does.

I think it is because the models vary over the stretch of 13 years and the animation is so simplistic at the start, it doesn't reflect real world tailoring, but more what their computers could render at the time.

That means it varies wildly and greatly.  There are no clearly defined seams in the early animations of 2008.

Only the clone medic has been made in the past two years.  Everything else was made long ago but with these caveats:

    1.  As long as you can point to a licensed reference, we will back you.

    2.  Always keep in mind that all of the animations, while differing year to year have a real world model they are trying to emulate.

And that real world model is this:

    officer

Now if you think some of the other CRLs are not correct, this is not the place to discuss that.  Create a thread in the "CRL Updates" area and we will look at what you show.

First off all thank you for your fast answer.

So you are suggesting that I do the front without the seams? Just asking so there are no misunderstandings?

That's fine with me when the census is that the seams in the early animation are not pronounced enough. Could be harder to fit to a non animated body though. In the real world version you just send these are seams. What makes Sense for tailoring. It just doesn't have the extra fablic in the other side of the tunic that the animated references clearly shows. That's why I thought to make the line there a seam too.

Can I ask you what real world uniform this is? Never knew there was an actual model used in the millitary. Just knew the battlefront realistic take and thought that was based on the show.

Also it was not my Intention to discuss the accuracy of the CRLs I mentioned or If they needed to be changed. I'm sorry ich that was'n clear enough. They are just the closest CRL references I have and when I discovered a difference between the two I didn't know which one to follow.

Researching more I now just found even more differences when also comparing the tarkin CRL from that era. Maybe I should start a thread pointing out the differences I found in the other subforum because at the moment I am just mass confusion

I agree with you that none of the current Republic officers are getting the details right.

Jeah its hard to catch every detail cause they don't always show up very clearly.

For me right now it makes the most sense to make both "lines" as seams. I found a better shot of a natborn officer where it clearly looks like seams to me. Since this is the same uniform in green it should be the same for the clone.

Tagging @buckrogersbarker to hopefully get an offical answer on this.

  4. After comparing the seams in the Republic medic CRL with the Republic officer CRL again, I noticed something. With the medic tunic the black detail band is not placed all the way to the edge of the Front 'flap'. The Republic Officer's tunic has it at the edge.

I compared this to the show where it appears that the detail band is not at the edge.

So I think I should go with the version more like Clone medic.

I addition to this I noticed some lines right over and under the detail band.

I don't know if these are seams, ironed in or just due to the Animation. The Republic Officer has the one in the left side of the body as a seam.

I'd like to hear your opinions on these ones.

There are a couple schools of thoughts on this.  There is the fabric texture that would most be like the republic officers wore in Revenge of the Sith.  Theirs is not as much as an diagonal weave like the officers of the Original Trilogy and the non saga series.

Then there is the school of thought that this is animated and since it is, fabric type is very much left up to interpretation.  Take a look at the two CRLS that are from this source and era, the clone wars animated series.

Does the fabric have to be like theirs (other than the color)?  Not necessarily, but in thought and design it should be the same uniform with color differences.

My Tailor and I will create this costume based on the republic officer CRL just in a different color now. We decided on the Fabric number 6 as it suits the overall texture the uniform should have the best.

I will post again when we have the first draft done.

  6. Hey everyone.

I am in the making of a clone naval officer and figured I should start a thread here in the early stages so everything will be to legion quality and standart.

The republic clone naval officer is the clone variant of the green republic officer and comes in a grey color.

Note: They are not to confused with the black clone officers or the republic clone medics

    Republic officer:

Beides the color, the rank bar is also different. I am not sure about the pants. They seem to be not entirely straight but also not as wide as the usual imperial officer ones. But this could just be the animation style. In the show their pants seem to be as wide as the republic officer ones

I plan on basing this CRL on republic medic/formerly clone medic and the republic officer CRL mentioned above.

Here are the references I found so far:

  7. Hello.

I Plan on making a clone trooper naval officer. If succesfull this will be a new CRL so I should probably also start a thread in that subforum?

    Anyway here are some references:

I have already found a tailor who will do this project with me. We plan to base it off the republic officer CRL and Clone Medic CRL with a few changes such as color.

The fabric is probably a light to mid grey gabardine. What do you think about that and what are good places to order fabric from?

    Thank you in advance.
