  1. Good to know!  I suppose if and when they put out more uniforms, I'll get a new set in the darker colour.  Til then I'll be satisfied if I don't get humbugged over the shade difference.  The good thing is that under artificial lighting, it seems to  look almost the same as the Anovos.

And I should mention, that's not my trooping tunic, but rather an extra I have.  My trooping tunic DOES have a much crisper, proper collar!  This one was just the easier one to grab in a hurry.

  2. I guess I'd say the DN leans toward the green spectrum while the Anovos leans toward the grey, with both having the same general base tone, if that makes any sense.

Couple more, interestingly, both look darker than the tunic in the pictures, though the Anovos actually does match.

  3. Took a few more shots in a hurry before work... As is typical of this uniform color, it does indeed look different at different times, sometimes even under the same light.  The color difference doesn't come across, in my opinion, as clear in pictures as it does in person, but here's what I have:

Again, notched disk is original Anovos, R1 disk is Denuo Novo.  Tunic is original Anovos.  Based on the information given by Kman above, my original uniform and hat were from the older, lighter batch.  Lighting is normal daylight through windows.

  4. It came with the cog pin.  Makes a nice enough pin to wear with regular clothes I guess.   The R1 pin I put on it myself to easily differentiate them in the photo.

The color is noticeably a bit darker than the original Anovos. I think the photo taken from directly above shows the color difference the best.  Personally, I'm not sure it's close enough for approval, although being that it's separated from the rest of the uniform by the head and neck might help that somewhat.   I feel like the difference is most noticeable under natural light.  I can try and take some more pictures while wearing the tunic, but I have to wait a couple days because the hat is at the dry cleaners til Thursday.  We will also be able to see if dry cleaning it has any effect on the color. The base color definitely appears to be the same, just the newer one seems a couple shades darker, if that makes any sense.  My Anovos hat and uniform have been dry cleaned a number of times, as well as being subjected to a handheld steamer for fixing wrinkles etc, so I guess that should be taken into consideration as far as it's color goes.   Although to be fair, I don't have any real recollection of feeling like the color has changed since I got it.

  5. Greetings IOC,

I thought I'd make a quick mention for those who might be interested.

I've been trying to get hold of a size medium olive officer hat from Anovos for some time.  I have a large that works, but it's a bit too big if I'm being very honest.  Having tried on a Garrison mate's medium, I found it snug but usable, so I've been trying to track one down for quite a few years, including placing another order when Anovos said they were "in stock".  You can imagine how that went...

Anyway, I recently was sent an email from a company called Denuo Novo that seems to be partnering with Neca through Rubies.  I suspect this is what Anovos became, though I don't know if the same people are involved.  The logo looks similar, the sizing charts and product descriptions are the same, so I'm assuming it's at least somewhat related.

They advertised ID hats, so I took a gamble and ordered a medium in olive grey.  It arrived today and thought I'd give my impressions in case anyone else is in the same boat I was.

Fabric appears to be very similar, possibly the same. The shade however, while appearing to be of the same "degree" of color, seems to be a couple shades darker than the original Anovos.  Under some lighting the difference appears negligible, but under others it seems quite noticeable.  The top of the hat has what feels like a layer of interfacing in it, which is absent on the Anovos. The brim is stiffer than the Anovos. The greeblie it comes with is of the type Krennic had on his hat, rather than the normal disk type.   The awful leather sweatband from the Anovos is gone and replaced with a thin, soft grosgrain sweatband.

Here's a few pictures to illustrate the color difference.  Anovos has the notched disk, Denuo Novo has the R1 style. Also worth noting is that the Anovos has been trooped in for a few years, and I may have dry-cleaned it back upon its arrival. I'm hoping a trip to the dry cleaners will bring the color of the new one close enough to the Anovos that it will be usable, otherwise I'm stuck with the impossible task of tracking down an old Anovos medium.

Hope this may have  been helpful to someone.

  6. Another Garrison mate and I grabbed rooms last night at the Anaheim Carriage Inn, through regular booking means.  Thought it prudent to just be sure we had something in anticipation of the sellout.  Made sure to get the free cancelation type though, in case something better crops up between now and then.  Location seems pretty good though, at an 11 minute walk from the Center.

  7.

I think the etsy holster listed above is actually incorrect for higher levels of approval, if that's your thing.  If I remember right you need the type that has a single thick loop a la Rogue One Navy Trooper Anson Thobel (I think that's his name.).  The maker above does also make that type though.  It's on his etsy store as well.  Darman does great stuff, I have several of his holsters, and I also second the advice above for getting the thicker leather.  It's pretty much bomb-proof.

  8. For me, I have to get an Anovos hat, as I have an Anovos uniform.  I originally got a large hat, but it's just a touch too big.  So I've been wanting a medium which was just a touch too small.  I think removing the ridiculous leather sweatband should make it just about right.  The hats ARE rather floppy as standard, but mine is quite crisp after adding a bit of thin craft foam here and there along with hat formers. Practically a softshell helmet now!  And as far as a cockade goes,  I've luckily got more of those than I have hats to put them on.

  9.  Indeed!  The last couple "in stock" items I've gotten from them have on average taken 2-3 weeks to get a shipping notice.   But I figure most people should be aware of that by now, and figured it wouldn't hurt to mention for those who need a hat.  Beats having to buy a pair of pants for the fabric in my book, anyway.  Wish someone would have let ME know sooner...  Had I not been getting another pair of pants on the sale and just happened to open the home page in a new tab, I'd have completely missed it, and would have been cursing myself if I ever found out they had been back in stock after they were all gone again.  As it is, I figure I have a nice month or two wait for the pants and hat to show up, but at least I have a surprise to look forward to showing up someday! :-D

  10.

Just an FYI, since I didn't see anything on this, Anovos appears to have Officer hats back in stock.  I was perusing their flash sale, and just happened to open a link to the home page in a new tab and they had a banner saying hats were back in stock. In spite of being on the interest list, I didn't receive any notice email.  I was able to place an order so it seems real.

I got my Saturday ticket! Who’s down for another IOC Blender in the Marriott bar Friday night like 2015?!

IOC Blender or Bender?? Hahahaha. J/k

The Stormtrooper Detachment Mixer was the bad one.  The IOC one was pretty classy, as befits the Officer Corps.  Although I do remember the three of us stumbling back to our respective hotels afterwards!

  12. Anyone else get a pass to the Disney After Dark Star Wars night?  I jumped on one as it seems like they are relaxing the "no-costumes" stance for the event, and the way I read the remaining restrictions, it looks like IOC uniforms should pass muster.  I figured this would likely be my only chance at getting pictures in uniform in Galaxy's Edge... Which is the whole point of going to Galaxy's Edge for me!
