Yeah, I was worried about that.  Looked sunken in below the paint level, if you will, in one of the photos, but above it in another, so I was hoping it was just weird compression edge effects, but I guess not.

Painting it in is probably as good as it'll get, yeah.  Meh.

The change has been made for version 3 of the ISB costume.  The wording for rank bars is the same as that of what we allow for the security services and the imperial military officer, which is:

Color, quantity, and combinations of the tiles/bars are determined by rank, and are appropriate to uniform type/color as supported by licensed reference.

This allows members to wear the ranks they want to do provided they can back it with reference, regardless of where the licensed reference comes from.

There is an overwhelming amount of evidence allowing this above in this thread and this should have been done years ago.

Eventually, we will separate out the version three of this costume as a "non saga version".  That way we preserve the original trilogy version and allow for all of the accessories that we will see with it in the upcoming Andor series on Disney Plus.

 

@DirectorEdward I think some of those you posted are fan art.  We need to reference things specifically from licensed sources and cite it when possible.

The FIRST thing we can do is get it permitted to allow a much broader number of ranks.  We can solicit that change and secure it as fast as the LMO team can read this post.

The creation of a new CLR that separates out the Non saga ISB and allows all the ranks can follow.  There is more than enough evidence for it.

What I will post here will be examples of the different rank badges over the years and their sources.

Double rank bars have been seen in the Dark Horse comics such as "Agent of the Empire"
 
and in recent Marvel comics both as single rank bars.

They were seen in the game Star Wars Squadrons.  This ISB officer was an objective for the pilots to save.
 
They have been Fleet Admirals in the game Battlefront 2.
 
They have been Lieutenants to be found in reference guides (this one here is from The Rebels Files).
 
They are the principle bad guy in Young adult star wars novels.  This one here is Smuggler's Run.

There are several officers of different ranks to be found in the Fantasy Flight Games sourcebooks.
 
The ISB was first mentioned in the Imperial Sourcebook from West End Games in 1989.

The first time the costume was identified was in the Decipher Star Wars Customizable Card game in 1995.

The only two cards showing officers in this uniform are:

Officer Evax... which is a photoshop created to make this card, but much of the lore we hold in the legion is based off of this card game that ran from 1995 to 2001.

I think version three of the existing CRL should be allowed to have any rank permissible as long as it is not a moff, Grand moff, grand admiral  and any combination of blue and red.

We have seen double stacked lieutenants, captains, colonels and admirals.

We have seen single stacked captains, commanders, majors, colonels, commodores.

Just like the staff and line officer CRL and the Security services and Non saga military uniforms that have broad latitudes, the same latitude should be extended to this costume based on the vast wealth of resources showing many different permissible ranks.

After this is granted, work should begin on the ISB non saga CRL of which there is already many candidates.  This will be a separation of the version three from the Version 1 and 2 of the existing ISB CRL.  This will be much like what was done for the Security services and imperial military non saga CRLs.  We may make the wording of the parts of the CRL the same as that of the security services because it is the same as that CRL other than the cream colored tunic.
 
 

I would also recommend keeping the draft in line with the other non-saga costumes.
Items which are the same should have the same text if appropriate.
 

PLUS, honestly, the only real outlier here is the ANH tunic. ANH has both straight leg and jodhpurs to set precedent already. 
I know I'm preaching to the choir here. 
Following your logic, we:
-preserve V1 and V2.
-Give V3 its own Non Saga CRL, and make V1 jodhpurs, and V2 straight leg/chelsea boots.

I'll post as many references as I can this weekend.

I would not mind seeing the version three and a straight pants version stand along as a non saga ISB to be in line with our security services and military uniforms.  it would complete the set of the available uniforms for the new Disney era costumes.
