Welcome aboard, Kevin! Now that you're approved you can check out the IOC Officers Mess on Facebook. Here's the link:

I'd say put a rather high shine on the toe and heel area of the boot, and a light polish on the shaft. After that, maintain them with a good rub down after every troop. Not too many folks bother with a good spit shine anymore ( kinda makes me miss the old days).

I don't think the bootstraps and side seams will pass muster. Nice looking boots though.

Depending on the troop, you may or may not do a lot of walking. If it's a "meet and greet" type event you'll probably be standing around posing for photos. A parade on the other hand will require preventative measures to protect your feet.

I figure if the natural leather color doesn't show through, it's good to go.

("I got busted down for sleeping with the wrong general's wife" can be a great backstory LOL)
That actually happened to an old Sergeant I knew while stationed in Germany back in the day.

What do you mean "slider"? Are you referring to the bolt, inside the barrel, that you can see through the slot? Or the pull handle itself?
Here's the photo from the CRL
- The barrel detailing is evident with the cocking lever and slider in place.
- The ejection port is also evident.

I figure the rank should match the relative age of the member. A young member in their early 20s would more likely be of a lower rank (IE, cadet or Lieutenant) while members of a certain age (ice age, like me) would probably hold a senior rank like Colonel or General. I think it would be rather odd to find a 20 year old Admiral in the ranks, but there's no real reason that you can't.

It can be, although you will probably need to have it tailored a bit. The hat and belt with buckle won't pass inspection, but Wampa Wear offers ones that will.

Not to be a buzzkill, but you have a tough time getting a CRL approved without more photos. Also, you'll need to site where the photos came from. It's a good looking uniform, maybe others will be able to locate more images.
