That's probably Disney mark-up for you.

So I was at Epcot the other day in one of the stores and spotted some black officer caps for sale.  These are not MuR or Anovos caps, but made by another source, apparently for Disney.

They need some de-wrinkling but honestly they are pretty decent. They are only one size and the disc would probably need to be swapped out for a different one. But I like the fact that it has the ridge detail on the flaps of the cap.  The price was pretty nice too, if memory serves me it was $24.99.

Agreed Phil.  They are ok, but not great.  But they are also far better then what I have seen many officers using.  Sadly, I have heard some people having some issues with tarnishing of the MuR code cylinders.

Phil, in the past I would have agreed with you about going down a size.  But the last few people who I know who got MuR hats say that the sizing was spot on.  I'm thinking they may have fixed their sizing issue prior to them losing the contract.

As Phil did say, these were the best and most accurate caps you could get at the time.  MuR lost the contract and now Anovos has it.  Now I would say that Anovos has the most accurate hats available, except no one actually has one of their hats yet.  lol

When Museum Replica's had the contract for Star Wars costumes I had a chance to talk to them at Dragon Con one year.  They stated that the reason why their rank bars came with double-sided tape was because that was what they found on the rank bars that were in the Lucas Archives.  I've never been to the Archives so I can't say if that is really what they found, but that is what they said.

Awesome thread.  I was thinking of getting one of those Disney blasters myself.  I like the stun/kill colors.  Now the only question is will the Doopy Do kits fit on these new blasters.

I was going to recommend Hessen Antiques as well.  I have not bought boots from them, but I have bought other things from them, and I have been happy with them.  If you can hold off, dont buy right away.  They have frequent sales or specials.  Sign up for their emails and you will get sale codes when they have them.

So I was visiting Disney last week and spotted a new Hasbro toy blaster for Han Solo.  It is different from previous versions in that it has a longer barrel.  It also has some lights inside the flash suppressor which light it up quite nice.  I actually like this blaster a lot and am thinking of getting it to convert into an officer blaster.

I am not digging those caps of the officers though.  For some reason they remind me a bit of those hats some catholic clergy wear.

That confirms that they didn't have all their ducks in a row before they started offering the items for sale.

I think everyone is getting anxious, and rightly so.  We have people in our squad who ordered the Han Solo stuff, which was the first Star Wars stuff to be put up for sale, and that stuff hasn't even been delivered yet.  I find it hard to believe that is has taken a year to produce an item.  This tells me that they didn't have things set up and running prior to putting the stuff up for sale.

I get that they are using the sales to fund the fabrication.  I dont particularly agree with that business model, but I can understand it.  But it doesn't take a year to take your wad of money and hand it over to the factory and say "here you go, start making stuff."  The fact that items still haven't been delivered after a year tells me that somewhere along the line there was a break down.  Either they didn't have their production lines set up prior to even offering the items up for sale, or something went wrong during the fabrication stage.

This is our very first look at an officer of any sort.  For all we know this may be a special uniform just for him, while other officers look different.   We can't be judging what it will look like just off 2 photos.

And getting a new uniform may not be as expensive as you think.  If the only problem is the color of the uniform, then all you need is a new jacket and pants.  You can get those from Cosplaysky for $110.  Keep that in mind even if you try to dye the uniform.  In the event the dyeing doesn't work and ruins the uniform, you can get a replacement for a decent price.

I use old socks to protect my accessories.  I put an old sock over my belt buckle and the belt boxes and wrap my dosimeters and rank badge in an old wash cloth.

Fizilbert got a reaction from Verfolger in Merr Sonn P5 conversion from Hasbro DL44
I started a topic before but I can't seem to find it.

I am currently using a Hasbro DL-44 as my trooping blaster.  Most people wont know the difference, but I always wanted to make one more accurate so I decided to convert an extra Hasbro blaster I have to resemble a Merr Sonn Power 5.

So this is the blaster as it looks out of the box.

My original intentions for this blaster was to just paint it black and give it to a friend to use as a trooping blaster.  That is why it has the black paint on it.  But plans changed.
I used a dremel to cut off the scope and then sand down some of the raised areas that were left.  This left a large hole on the top of the blaster where the scope was cut off.  I used some spare plastic I had sitting around to cover the hole on the top.  I also sanded off some of the writing on the side of the blaster.

So now I needed a scope.  I work in healthcare so I found a small blood vial that I thought would work well.  You can pretty much use anything you can find that is shaped like a tube and can fit on the blaster well.  A friend of mine also had some coiled wire left over from another build he was working on. This is rubber-coated, coiled wire as you would find from headphones or something similar.

I sanded the top of the blaster down some more and added another flat piece of plastic to put the "scope" on.  I also sanded a flat section onto the round vial so it would sit better on the blaster, and drilled a small hole onto the top of the blaster so we could put the wire down into it.

    Update
I got the hose adapters and cut it in half.  I glued halves together, end to end with some superglue.  I tried CA glue at first, but it didn't work, I guess the type of plasitc was not compatible.  After the superglue dried I put some E6000 on the inside seam for further reinforcement.  I then used the E6000 to glue the whole thing to the side of the blaster, as seen below.  I did not put one on the other side, this will allow it to be more easily holstered, since I have a left side holster, and will allow me to replace batteries as needed.

Fizilbert got a reaction from Rhaethe in Imperial Handbook
So I got my copy of the newly released Imperial Officers Handbook.  There is some interesting bits of information in it.  For instance, it states that the black uniforms are indeed Stormtrooper officers.  It also states that the Stormtrooper Corps is a separate entity from the Imperial Navy and Imperial Army.  I would have liked to have seen more indepth talk about ranks, but it only briefly covered that subject.  I will see if I can add some pictures of the relevant pages.
