    Greetings again IOC,

I want to thank you for your many well thought out questions. It is clear we have a lot of passionate members that care for the IOC. I also would like to thank Bob for his passion as well, it takes a strong person to accept a nomination for a job like this and I thank him for his ideas.

It is clear the main objective of either of us will be the CRL completion. Different methods, but it will get done. What you, as members, need to decide is whether you want someone familiar with the current detachment methods and personnel, or someone that only had 15 posts prior to his nomination. Bob is a great guy and devoted 501st member, I’ve met him a few times now and enjoy his company. I hope we can continue that after the election.

As for Rob Lyth, I’m sorry you didn’t take your nomination and this process as serious as you could have.  I’d hope a person that thought it was necessary to accept a nomination would participate by answering the specific questions provided by our members.  I hope you can join us on the forums and add to the detachment.

I’d like to thank my staff, current and future, for the support and ideas. I look forward to working with you this year. I hope you, the members, give me the opportunity to serve as your Detachment Leader this year. I’m excited to implement the ideas we have for the detachment. The CRL team program will be the first to get our attention. The process is slow, but it is made so much slower by the number of new costumes added by all the new sources. Sure, some of the other detachments have whipped some out too, but they may not have had so many. With that being said, we will make them our priority.

The mentoring/cadet type program is a great approach to get more members active on the forum and to aid new members. It should have been done sooner, but now is a time good as any. We will iron out the details and put out the call for mentors, a much catchier name will be decided upon too. I think we can use at least one of Bob’s ideas, with a twist that is. An IOC Facebook members page is a good idea. But not for official business, but as a social page where members can chat and even gripe in real time. It will be a good place to post breaking news and link members to the forums for the details.

Lastly, I want to thank BJ for his dedication to this detachment for so many years and his friendship. He saw something in me at Celebration 6 and that lead to my appointment as DO and ultimately, Executive Officer. I’m glad you will be available to assist in the future.

I look forward to continuing my service to the IOC.

    CLOSING OF QUESTIONS

And with that, we will bring to a close the Question phase of the 2017 General Elections. We will now lock this thread and allow our Candidates 24 hours to catch up with their responses and draft Closing Statements if they desire.

Voting will begin in approximately 24hours, good luck to all the candidates and may the Force be with you all!

I have a question for Robert G. Barker. You want to push more CRLs through. How are you going to convince people to make the costume, take pictures, and help draft the CRL? We really can not make a CRL without someone having first made the costume. All of the pictures in a CRL MUST be from members, as using LFL images is a strict Copyright Violation. We don't even have an ANH Staff Officer yet; I plan on making one this summer for the CRL and tutorial. What makes you think you can force people to make something for any CRL?

    Mkjava asks:

    For all 3 candidates:

For many troopers, an IOC uniform is their first one in the 501st (it was for me!).  Unfortunately I've met some troopers that once they get that first set of armor done though, it's goodbye to the officer or crewman, never to be seen again.  What are your thoughts on keeping IOC members engaged with their costumes, to work to upgrade them or to build new ones even after they have other 'exciting' detachment costumes?  (Not saying my Staff Officer isn't exciting, that goes without saying!  )

Personally, I promote changing costumes and each troop, start with one, then change into one or two more.  It's a challenge to change when no one notices it.  Several members of my Garrison are starting officer costumes for an addition costume, some for comfort, some because I make an officer look so good...lol!  It's another instance of leading by example.  Go into a troop looking sharp and maintaining the Imperial Officer persona.  I makes others to want to do the same.  The best compliment I ever received was, "You really have 'Imperial Bastard' down don't you?"

    Another follow up for Bob:

I will PERSONALLY challenge you on this assertion.  the Krennic CRL was not held up because no one "liked" the costume.  It was held up because we had to have multiple fights over what a Level 1 CRL was - whether or not absolute screen accuracy was required for specific parts regardless of if it was required on any other CRL, and whether we should wait until after the Blu-Ray was dropped to finish the CRL "just in case we have to amend it."

I should know, I started, pushed, and finished submitting that CRL - I had the costume done 3 weeks before the movie came out, as per the requirements for creating and submitting a CRL.

If there are specific examples you have of people who created a costume, took pictures, wrote the CRL, and that CRL was held back, please present them - otherwise, please stick to the facts and let's discuss why you should be the next DL, and not drag people through the mud with wild unfounded accusations.

    For Bob:

Again, it seems like you're advocating for a CRL before a costume is created, which is not how the process is written.  A member creates one, then helps write the CRL, and so forth.  If no one has made one, even pushing forward with the fact that we have no clear back pictures, or contacting Pablo and asking questions - how is that the fault of the DL?  I'm still at a loss to understand how you could change this, when no one has even made one with or without a "correct" back?

For Robert: You stated you had a plan for all 6,000 members in the legion to have an officers costume. How is this monetarily feasible? Why would you want everyone to have a certain costume when some members are obviously not interested in IOC? How do you propose to force members of an all volunteer charity / costuming group to add another costume?

I would also like to know about the "training" you propose for members of the IOC. Again, this is a costuming group. I myself have several times helped assist new members in how to act the part, as many other experienced members of the IOC have. In what training are we lacking?

Lastly, and this is an observation as well as a question, this forum is composed of many members, staff and otherwise, who care deeply about these costumes and the IOC. I spend a lot of time here. Joining this group without so much as an introduction, then attacking this forum has caused a lot of animosity. You have no idea the work that goes on here and could not possibly know what we do wrong or right. You have been a member of the 501st for ten years and have not even looked at what we are doing. Then saying another detachment leader asked you to come here and take over causes more animosity. As Kris asked, who is this detachment leader? If that is how this person works, by going behind the back of current staff and asking you to take over, then he or she is not qualified to run a detachment and is a poor leader indeed. So, instead of attacking us as a group, how are you going to convince us you actually care about this forum, this group and the work the members have done to make this the great detachment it already is? Why should we continue to listen to you?

To Bob: What is your specific understanding why we have no FO costumes other than Hux yet?  I agree this is unfortunate, but I'm curious what you have gathered from the specific threads and communications with other members looking to make FO Officers.

Perhaps it would have been best to reach out to those you wish to keep on staff. For the Record; I am BJ's Merch Officer, and my loyalty is to him. BJ has asked me to be Mark's Merch Officer, and as such my loyalty is extended to him as well. I am a firm believer in only running on one ticket (there must be consequences for our choices) and as such will not continue as Merch Officer for another DL. I cannot speak for the rest of the current staff, but perhaps you should ask them personally. So I will ask again: Who makes up your command staffs and their positions.

Like requested I post a picture of the Mauser. It is really 11 Inches or 300mm long.

The Pistol itself is completely made of Plastic and very light weighted. it includes a big Magazin, a small Magazin (shown above in the Picture) and a little bag with 6mm BB's. I think I have no need for the BB's and the big Magazin. I take the small one and start to modify the Mauser to an Merr Sonn Power 5 Blaster.

Can someone provide the length of the gun barrel of the MSP5?

[MODERATOR NOTE: THIS RANK CHART THREAD IS NOW CONSIDERED OBSOLETE.  PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING THREAD FOR THE CURRENT RANK CHART USED BY THE IOC: ]

    [/END OF MODERATOR NOTE]

This the official guide to illustrate all canon officer ranks recognized by the IOC. It is compiled with reference from the original movies, and official EU sources. It is created from a costuming point of view, and not meant to explain every rank's importance or how they differ from movie to movie (that's what fan fiction is for). It is just a simple chart that shows what rank officially goes on what costume. Code cylinders are intentionally excluded, and can be referenced in the CRLs.

Note Rogue one/Solo ranks are only compatible with Rogue one uniform style

COMMAND STAFF EDIT: There is a more current/comprehensive rank bar guide in this location:

Simon, just a quick recommendation on the helmet.
Try moving it a bit higher/forward on your head so the swoop is at more of a natural slant.
It should ideally sit more like this at a profile glance.

Just as a heads up. I've been a little busy last week in real life. I've also had duties increased at a Garrison level. I'll need a couple of days to get to grips with those, after which I'll get back and answer my PMs / Executor requests.

    Thanks,
