Ah, another thing to do is to let people in rebel or Jedi shirts to know about "the emperor's seditious clothing act of 1977." ( Or of '77.)And by wearing seditious clothing , that they are in fact breaking imperial law. Which is punishable by five years of hard labor in the emperor's work camps. And you can make up some kind of job they would do. Like washing tuskens, shaving wookies, or the ubiquitous cleaning of the ewok cages at the local imperial zoo.

Well, I have a lot that I say and do. I have worked on things with my prior service experience.  There are a lot of thing to do to keep up appearances.

1). Greet people as citizens.  If you throw in something like "good morning citizen. How are you on this fine imperial morning." Or " welcome citizen, so not worry. My troopers and I are here to cleans this area of rebel activity. It will be safe again shortly. ". Try it out. It's fun.

    2)  what I call the trooper blinkins.  After a "citizen" takes a photo. Stop them and ask to see the photo. At which point a trooper or helmeted character in the group gets a down dressing. (Let them know ahead of time you might do it). Mine goes... "Citizen may I see the photo. I need to check that my troopers preformed their duties well.". They show you the picture. Then, " trooper blinkins!  You did it again. You blinked when I ordered you not to blink! ".  And have some fun with it.

3)if someone is just walking by, interact with a greeting of citizen. Then warn them of viscous ewok activity in the area. Or if near a parking lot. Warn of jawas stealing motivators from parked speeders in the vicinity.

    4) more photo fun.  When a "citizen" goes to take your photo. State "make sure to get my good side. Not my dark side". Most everyone will laugh. It's a good ice breaker for adults.

    5) you could talk about how tough it is to be a imperial trooper. How on jeda you could get beaten up by a blind Jedi temple guard. And had issues with little aliens charging you yelling, Admiral akbar! And blowing themselves up.

Honestly I have a thousand lines. But just work with the crowd. It's a fun interaction that you want. And the "citizen" will remember.

This last weekend I won a cosplay contest as Captain Beckett at a local con, and decided I wanted some better pictures in this character. So I met up with Izzy at our Tatooine Wall we made for South Valley Squad, and we got to work! The costume is not screen accurate yet, more fairly it is "Inspired by", but I really like this uniform and wanted to troop this character regardless!

"Do you wanna live, Sparky? Then shut up and do what your Captain tells you!"

Some of the best advice I was ever given for costuming overly serious/slightly intimidating characters.
"Head up, shoulders back, walk like you've just been sent to kill Captain America."

It worked very well for Kylo, but I found it carried over pretty nicely for officers as well (if not better. Apparently I have a somewhat intense face if I make an attempt)

The other piece of advice I can give is develop your officer's character! If you know who they are, what their likes and dislikes are, and how they behave, you'll have a way easier time and people get really into it. My First Order officer is really freaked out by Kylo. I've had small children try to fight him for me. It's adorable and they love it.

Very true. They were what appears to be off duty on jeda.  That's showing us they have a human side to them.

In m opinion you can use any accent you want. Sometimes it's an american one. Sometimes it's an English one. Eli vanto has a kinda southern twang in his accent according to the thrawn audiobook. So say just go with what you're most comfortable with. Lol

I am the same way. That's why I posted my fun things to say. It gets you into the action and gets people laughing. And having a good time while trooping is the best!

This whole thread has been very enlightening and made me think of how I present myself as an officer. I've always been a professional and carry myself like an officer and I just be like me. Most of the time I just can't help but smile because of how much fun I'm having. Being an officer, I've always tried to be in essence a back-up handler. I'm always looking out for the armored troopers though keeping them safe. I will keep all this in mind at my future troops.

I think keeping it seperate would be better, but I'm biased Right now, the Science officer does require the dress shirt underneath, which is obvious in both the movie and VD. It's unclear if the ones in Solo wear dress shirts underneath. Science officer and Mess Dress are also very different roles, so I think keeping them seperate would be better. My two cents

ID Imperial Officer: Staff Officer Mess Dress (Black)
ID Imperial Officer: Line Officer Mess Dress (Olive)

Sounds good. What about the sience officer then? We keep it as an special suit, or just combine it with Line Mess Dress?

I thought combine it myself. @DarthFunk83 it's your CRL, so your thought matters more.

I helped with the Science Officer as well, and I think opening up rank bars and shirt options and using that as a template for the Mess Dress variants is fine. Science officer can become both CRL's without too much confusion. For example, we have two different colored hats on the Scanning Crew depending on which movie look you're replicating, so I think a single CRL with both versions would be acceptable IMHO.

Truthfully what I've seen above is one thing that keeps me away from this forum. You only added evidence to his end statement there in that incoherent rant. I've been on this forum for quite some time and the animosity presented in these blaster waving contests is pushing people away. Information is presented and if it doesn't line up with expectations it is dismissed and deemed contradicting. Where is the information to actually help build these things correctly or start trying to?

From what's been presented it seems rather simple to relate the officer's on the yacht to Dillon's rank system and our straight pants officers from ANH. We have this lined up for us far easier than we did even from when I started this process in '09. We have a wealth of information and need to take advantage of it.

Yes, that's the commander rank from ANH.  See Commander Nadonnis Praji.

The acrylic chip style rank bars will suffice for basic approval.
