Something I think we should do is induct into the legion as honorary members the costume designers who made the costumes and the actors who portrayed the different officers in the star wars movies.

We need to spearhead this here because we are the Imperial Officer Corp, but also because time is running out on many of the potential inductees.  Many of the actors that were in the original trilogy are of advanced age and may not long be with us.  We already missed our opportunity with John Mollo who designed many of the costumes we wear.

Glyn Dillion is a must, but so is David Crossman, his co-designer who came up with the single bar rank system for Rogue One and Solo.

We need to generate a list of those who are and those who are not currently honorary members.  Then as we learn where they will be guests we will set the wheels in motion to getting them what they need to be inducted.

I am personally willing to pay for the first three inductees fees to get them the plaque and badge.  I do this knowing that it is very likely I will not be able to attend the induction myself.  But I think it is necessary for us to thank the people who inspired us to wear these costumes.  I would also like to draw tighter the ties between us and creators of the new films.  We live in an age where we no longer have to guess what these costumes look like or how they are made.

I propose a list that looks like this:

    Name – Position – Movies – Member –

Glyn Dillion – Costume Designer – TFA, RO, TLJ, SASM – No membership
Domhnall Gleeson – General Hux – TFA, TLJ – No membership
Julian Glover – General Veers – ESB – Honorary Member
Richard LeParmentier – Admiral Motti – ANH – Honorary Member

What we would do is simply work the list.  As members learn of different actors going to cons we will see if we have enough time to get something together and make a presentation.  Historically we have never needed the approval of the local garrison, though they should be notified as a courtesy.  I have inducted members just by myself and friends and that precedent still stands.  Some of the people that will make it to the list will never attend a convention, Michael Kaplan, the costume designer for The Force Awakens is one.  In those cases we can we can contact their agent or the studios to make the presentation.  Not every induction should include publicity.  We should respect the wishes of the inductee and size it based on what is able to be done and what they are comfortable.

I would like to hit up at least 3 before the end of the year, potentially more if it can be done.

Great idea, Bob! I especially agree about the folks who are getting up there in age.
In case anyone is unfamiliar with the honorary member program, here are the current details copied from the main 501st site:

What is the Honorary Member Program?
Originally created by Founder Albin Johnson, the 501st Legion has a program in which individuals who are not members of the Legion are recognized and honored for their contributions and support. The honors have adaptively evolved over the years, with differing definitions over time. Each "era" of honored individuals are grandfathered into the program. The current defined honors are as follows:

    Honorary Member (HM)
Any individual who has been universally recognized as having made a contribution to or impact on the Star Wars universe / IP. This honor is typically granted to actors, authors, production crews, production concept artists, voice actors, and so forth that have worked on licensed Star Wars IP. Honorary Membership may also be awarded to individuals or groups who have supported multiple Legion units for a great number of projects or years of service to our organization.

    HM Benefits:
501st Legion Honorary Members receive a unique certificate proclaiming their status. Their name is also installed on on Honorary Member Page on 501st.com. A login to our Honorary Member forum is available to those HM's interested in such and whom request it. An HM also has access to 501st merchandise to purchase as they choose. The Legion as an organization does not grant any other benefits or perks beyond those listed here. Invites to Legion functions are common by host Garrisons if a HM is in their area, but is by no means guaranteed.

Note on Local Honors: At a local level, Garrisons/Outposts are free to do what they would like (following all merchandising rules, of course) to recognize local people as honored friends or honorary members of their Unit. This is a local only unit-level sort of honor, outside the boundaries of this program, and are not entitled to any declared benefits of the 501st Legion Honorary Member Program. When creating certificates and plaques and the like for their local honors, the unit can name the person what they choose, honored friend, friend, honorary member, etc) but it must be of the unit's name (example, "of Bloodfin Garrison") and not "of the Legion" or "501st Legion".

    Nominations
    - Any active 501st Legion member may nominate a Honorary Member.
    - Nominators should inform their CO's of nominations made.
    - Nominations will be assessed by the Honorary Member Committee for acceptability and if they lie at a Legion or local level.
    - Nominations should be submitted to honorary@501st.com and detail the person being nominated as well as reasons why.
    - IMPORTANT NOTE: Nominations should always be sent to honorary@501st.com before induction, be the intention Legion or local. This helps avoid confusion, embarrassment, and frustration for all parties involved. In addition, even if the nomination is local, it still allows the Honorary Office to forward the story to our PRO Office for possible inclusion in social media.

The Honorary Member Liaison (HM Liaison) is the single point of contact and the Chair of the Honorary Committee.
Honorary Committee is made of a group of people including the HM Liaison, an HML admin, LCO, Legion Founder, and LPRO. These are the individuals that vote.
Honorary Member Team comprises of the above, but also includes non-voting members appointed by the HML to accomplish important administrative tasks

They said it was anime inspired, but not exactly anime, pretty sure the style they are going for is like Avatar the Last Air bender (Dave Filoni helped make this TV show) and the Legend of Korra.    (I'm really excited for this TV show also!!!)

This style of what they are saying is going to look like:

Very interested to see what this will be like. The Clone Wars & Rebels both brought a lot of coll stuff to the 501st's table. Undoubtedly this will too. I was a big fan of the Rouge Squadron books & comics back in the day. Maybe we'll see some similarities.

#1 and #2 are too wide and wouldn't be good for a Trading Card.

#3 will have the DLT obscured by your Garrison logo.

So by the power of deduction you're left with #4.

You would need to check with the Underworld Detachment GMLs to see if that's approvable, but honestly I would guess not.

    1) That tunic is pretty noticably longer than an Officer tunic.
    2) Based on the first image, there is a central panel with slits on either side of it, for that tunic's construction.  The Officer's tunic has no such slits, and only wraps one side across the other, so the construction is very different.
    3) I can't quite tell from your references, but it looks a little like there is a cuff at the end of the sleeve?  The Officer uniform has straight arms, to the end.  Similarly, I can't tell from the pictures if there is button closure of the cuff, or if that's just a pin to allow rotation of the toy's hand at the wrist area.

The top part looks a little like the new Science Division tops (see Galen Erso in Rogue One).  Similar design philosophy, perhaps, but again, very different construction.  Plus the armor.

Perhaps the Underworld leadership can shed more light on their thoughts on the matter, but IMO, I don't actually see a lot of similarity to a regular officer tunic.
