this thread was formally submitted to the LMOs for review last week. We will receive word from them after Celebrations
I have even talked this over with the IGC Detachment leader. We talked about the uniform and keeping to the stylings of the animated officers regardless of which detachment gets this and goes forward.
And that is the cooperation and discussions needed to produce a costume for all members.
The people who come in and say "it should be here" or "it should be there" and contribute nothing to building the costume do no service to its progress. We have an outlined process for costume creation. It is a mediated process involving the LMOs and we will respect it.
That said, the leadership (and potential leadership) of this detachment should advocate for the membership of this detachment and not serve as a proxy for others. -
good fighting for the IOC there. Officer boots, breeches, belt, tunic, rank badge, gloves.... But the helmet makes it belong to someone else.
Automatically hand it to other detachments. And maybe it should go there after a discussion, but the leadership of this detachment (and the future leadership) should never automatically roll over for other detachments. The members of this detachment need an advocate. -
We have limited space for the cocktail tomorrow night at the London Sky Gardens. If you are interested please contact @meitru and she will see what she can do. Please do come in uniform or evening attire.

there are so few, almost everything is bespoke.

@chicken45 this is a conundrum. The newer models have more detail. Their belt buckles now look like real world belt buckles.
Would this be a brand new CRL or would we simply permit this blaster and gloves as optional for the Krennic without a cape? -
Good to meet you Julian, where are you located?

Looking Sharp Hannah!!! good to meet you!!!

Where are you located @GreenBeans? I have trimmed a couple. There are some belts that have 3 holes and some that have none, depending on what you are doing.
-
@ColonelM66 make sure you join the officers mess too https://www.facebook.com/groups/iocofficersmess
-
@Alay can you assist?
-
The answer is: no one makes them. We are looking at having someone make the CRL for one, but it will be bespoke and hand made.

G'day folks!
I'm not really sure how this flew under the radar, but the Enlisted did in fact make a comeback on Andor! A few of them are present on Aldhani.
I took the liberty to create an imgur album to back up the things I say here with reference: https://imgur.com/a/meq9guX
- The Enlisted crew carry the same headset as Kimzi/Aldhani troopers in uniform. This appears to be a Racal Aviation headset with some additional greeblies on. I've ordered one for myself to check out if this can be achieved accurately.
- Wrist Length black leather gloves are seen on some Enlisted Crew. These seem to be the same Dent gloves seen throughout the Andor Series.
- Not all Enlisted on the show carry a compad. This may mean that the compad could be moved to the optional section? Interestingly, the Compad is optional on the Non-Saga Crewman, but not the current draft for the enlisted.
- The Rogue One Version has Chevron shaped mandarin closures on wrist and on the neck. The Andor version has squared off closures.
- The Compad on both R1 and Andor matches the Imperial Ground Crew in shape, rather than the TIE Compad. You can see this in the R1 visual guide image posted on the first page as well.
- The Andor Compad has a different color configuration than the Compads seen in Rogue One
- Andor Belt boxes are slightly smaller. According to @fb501 on the Spec Ops forums, the Belt Boxes measure 67mm tall, 45mm wide and 25mm deep for Andor. This has also been raised on this thread:
The Andor belt boxes are not silver, but rather a dark gunmetal color and feature a pill shaped notch in the top:
Additionally, something I'd like to bring up, which I partially also have on the Non-Saga Crewman thread:
- The draft mentions a 1 inch piece of webbing sewn to the top end of the Code Cylinder sleeves. I could see a seam there, but no webbing.
- The Thread Color of the suit seems darker than the rest of the suit. I'm not sure if it is a dark gray or a black thread. This may be worth discussing.
- The suit has those large flaps on the shoulder that curve down under the armpit. I think similar to the Non-Saga Crew, this may be an addition worth having
- I'm not sure if adding padding in the shoulders is the right move. Like described on the non-saga thread, the TIE suits look very poofy. The same can't really be said for the Enlisted. It may be worth discussing if it should be removed.
- The current description of the hat mentions "Fabric is a medium weight suiting material matching the pants and tunic if applicable." I think it's not really applicable in any scenario and this line could probably be deleted.
- Other non-saga CRLs mention Cavalry Twill as hat option. This might be an addition worth having?
With the discrepancies between R1 and the Andor Version, I'm not sure if it could be worth making two versions of this costume within a single CRL.
I intend to tackle this costume some time after Celebration is done, as I would only need a new flight suit really. I'll grab new belt boxes, gloves and headset from my Aldhani build.
cc, since you started this such a long time ago, hope you don't mind! @buckrogersbarker
This is good
@chicken45 take his photos and put them into the galleries.
I am envisioning a lot of this as a separate version of existing non-saga costumes. Those enlisted technicians have the embossed imperial cog patch like the pilots from Rogue One. We are compiling a list of things we need to do... in this particular case, we need a non saga flightsuit that is in grey. That was being worked on by a member. -

Good to meet you Bruce. Feel free to join the officer's mess.
And please go here and post your legion membership link so we can give you full access in the forums.

Some things should go without saying, but we live in an age where we do have to say things. I will cross post this in the Officer's Mess too.
At no times will this detachment be a home or accepting to people that are friendly to or espouse the ideas behind fascism, Nazism or any totalitarian ideology. We dress up as fictional space bad guys. Conflating any of the above with doing that is not only morally wrong, it puts at risk what we do here in this detachment and the legion as a whole. We will not allow such a risk.
I have spoken to members who have belonged to reenacting groups that have had those ideologies come into them. That will not be permitted here, not under this administration. And if that day ever comes that it would be allowed, I would hope you would join me in finding another hobby.
There will be no litmus tests for members. If you are a reenactor, I hope you enjoy doing it and I hope you keep the ideology out of it. There is no conversation over re-enacting that you cannot take private. And if you are an open adopter of the ideologies listed above, no one wants to hear it...ever. If you see something in violation of this, please contact the staff and we will deal with it promptly.

the interchangeability of parts from costume to costume inside of detachments and then across other costumes in other detachments used to be a feature of the legion 13 years ago. This allowed someone to create a bridge crew and then some time later do an imperial gunner or a TIE pilot. This was considered an entry level that allowed members to progress to other costumes. We have lost that somewhat in recent years because of changes that are so specific it would derail this ability.
I am going to have a Spreadsheet put together showing parts that could be shared including things like this flightsuit so if we do set about making changes we can do it in a coordinated fashion with other CRL across other detachments.
The problems with making changed because of photos of a costume from a new production has to be balanced with the photos of the same costume from earlier costumes.... is there a new variant? or does the previous CRL based around the early production evidence is it wrong. We are going to have to dig into this, because I am not entirely certain that we have justification to what has already been built. We may have just a new variant.... which may necessitate the construction of a new costume to capture.

regardless... and bringing this back to the topic.... No one here makes this decision, As detachment leader, I can advocate, but this is not my decision. This is a decision of the LMO office and it is currently in their hands.
IF the IGC doesn't make this costume, we may reactivate this thread and make our case again. Sometimes new costumes go to other detachments and nothing happens. If anything is granted here we will make every possible effort to bring it to completion.
