there is actually a discussion underway with the LMOs over shared materials with other detachments.  I know that JRS has deviated some from what we had, but these SHOULD be the same items used repeatedly.  I'll let you know what we fight out.  We just started talks with @stormtrooperguy recently.

Sorry I got infected with COVID so I didn't get a chance to look into here. Thank you for the numerous replies. I am happy to hear that you agree with my opinion regarding the seams. As you guys mentioned it is nearly impossible to get the uniform right without seams according to my tailor. It is very confusing since the black series figure actually does have the seams. I also shortened the trousers so it doesn't wrinkle that much. My hair dresser is also going to adjust my hair since this was just a bit improvised.

I'm good with the Tunic, hat, and belt language proposed.

While I haven't compared it exactly, I think we should use whatever the language is for other RECENT officer jodphurs, so the language all aligns as much as possible.  The one exclusive bit included (from Pryce) is this: "The flares on the jodhpurs mimic the shape of Rebels officer’s flares"

That seems like a reasonable inclusion, the question is where to put it.  I also would like some eyes on the actual show by someone (sadly not me... my schedule barely allows bathing the past few weeks, and I don't want my wife to kick me out of the bedroom just for some costume research LOL) just to *verify* those unusual flare shapes are truly universally present on the officers, or if they're a bit of a mishmash of shapes.

Assuming we confirm they're pretty standard (or even THE standard), I still feel like this is a Level 2 detail.  Someone commissioning a costume from scratch will have something to aim for, but we have a somewhat lower bar of entry for a relatively minor detail (I mean... look at the flaps we allow for regular officers!) at the basic level, should someone have another pair at the ready.

    Be kind and respectful.

I have seen a lot of interpretation through the years.  MANY.  The only ones that have gotten us in trouble are the ones that are brusk or intolerant.  We know Star Wars forwards and backwards.  There is no guarantee that the people that interact or view us may know anything of who or what we are, so do be cautious.

We are unlike any other costume in the imperial forces, because people get to see our face and that is often the people that they will directly interact with.  More than anyone else we are ambassadors.

This will be a status board that will list the CRL development in progress and where it last left off.

These will include the name of the CRL under development and where it is at (more references needed, Waiting on IOC CRL staff, waiting on LMO reply, discussion underway, physical changes being made, etc).

CRLs in Progress (at the moment ALL of these need to be finalized + LMO review):

For example, the ISB CRL states the following for the tunic:

This tunic is somewhat infamous for being difficult to fit on any body that isn't a tube, since the lack of front princess seams makes it difficult to fit on a body with breasts or a trim waist, etc.  IIRC the originals didn't have back princess seams either because they were quickly made for a couple of background extras. We've made an allowance in our standards to account for the fact that bodies other than trim cylinder body types may want to wear this tunic, and fitting seams help make a tunic fit less like a sack on diverse body types.  Why not do the same here?

I agree with the tailor's assessment.  Making a tunic fitted to look like the reference images without having any back seams (either using princess seams, center back seam, or just darts) is challenging, unless the body wearing the tunic is shaped like a cylinder.  You can take a little waist fullness out of the side seams to narrow the waist, but that will only go so far.  Without seams or darts you're still going to have fullness in the back and it will look blousey, like a tucked in dress shirt, which is definitely not what these uniforms look like.

While I'm definitely for making the costume look as accurate to the source material as possible, it can be a challenge with animated characters that don't have to exist in reality and are often drawn more simply for whatever reason. In this case it may be necessary to allow princess seams in the CRL...not to require their use, or prevent them from being used, but to leave it open to the individual similar to how some of our other officer CRLs don't require or prohibit them (at least not for L1).  Perhaps some language in the CRL specifying that "princess seams may be used on the back to allow for a proper fit"?

I have finished this costume. Here is what it looks like. Perhaps this can be used to create a CRL. This is currently approved as a Imperial Military Officer (non saga). More images available here on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MohLohNJM8urdiMBjuIwcMukvlQDXKoo

buckrogersbarker got a reaction from rickkrennic in Treason? Reusing x-wing pilot boots and gloves for ANH officer
Most X-wing pilots wear jackboots (knobblebockers), but Luke was seen wearing full riding boots not unlike Han Solo or Vader (minus the shin armor).

But our Crewmen wear exclusively Jackboots.

The riding gloves with gauntlets may pass.

In any case, the final decider is your GML.  Pull the CRL look at the individual parts, and show that to your GML to see what they say.  That will tell you if you are in the right direction.

This picture is from the Mutiny on of the Eclipse, Empire 9, and comes much closer to what I envisioned my Officer Uniform to be like. There is much room for speculation, wether the canon source (Solo) can be applied to this picture too (The right upper arm isnt visible, it is plausible that he too wears a biceps band over his uniform, probably made from fabric as well, not from plastic as seen in the pictures above.

Also, the Uniform seems to be grey rather than olive as seen above, which maybe related to the rank of the officer?

Of anyone knows of further sources for pictures of a medical officer / medic, let me know!

    Hello everyone,

As advised, I will document my search and findings in this thread.

What I dug up so far:

The Imperial Surgical Corps is a medical branch of the Imperial Military, taking care of wounded Soldiers planetside and on ships close to battlefields. Sadly, there is not much furhter information, but considering how Medical Officers work in Real Life, the Surgical Corps seems to be the overall term for everyone working in the medical field for the Imperial Military, including veterinarians, dentists, pharmacists and surgeons, a Medical Corps so to say. According to my findings, the defintion of what kind of uniform they wear is more than vague. In a comic book panel, the Officer seems to wear a standard grey uniform, with a backpack and a big box on his belt (Mutiny of the Rand Ecliptic). There are no visible indicators about his rank or job as a Medic. I concluded that this seems to be the "everyday" or "parade" uniform, since Army surgeons wore "turquoise blue uniforms and helmets with breathing filters that partially covered their faces" (Wookiepedia entry Imperial Surgical Corps). That seems to be the "working" uniform, like an army surgeon would wear scrubs in reality. I also found the entry in the Database for Imperial Medics, concerning those seen in Solo. On Mimban, these Medics treat the wounded, wearing an officer-type of armor above the normal uniform, with heavy cloaks against the weather. That seems to be the "combat" uniform, if a Medic/Surgen operates close to the front lines. They also wear a white biceps band with a red symbol (similar to the red cross we all know) in duty, but if it only concerns the "combat" Uniform or is generally a part of the uniform is not clear to me. According to the Database Entry mentioned above, the Medics are armed: "The Empire interprets the galaxy’s ancient medical oaths as only applying to one’s own species, and allows its medics to bear arms in combat." and on Wookiepedia: "Faced with the enemies of the Empire, the doctors behaved almost like classical soldiers." Considering the ranking system in Star Wars is pretty similar to the one our earthly Armies use, I concluded that they are the same like in the Army, the Navy or in the Stormtrooper Corps. There is a mention of a Captain in the Imperial Surgical Corps. If they too use the added "M.O." after the rank (E.G. Captain M.O. = Captain Medical Officer) to distinguish them from other Officers is also up to speculation, but would make a lot of sense, knowing the Empire's drive for a clear hierarchy in their ranks.
The pictures I have found myself (and have been provide with already, thank you!) are attached to this post.

It isn't much to go from, especially since I don't plan on making a costume like the "combat" uniform as I dubbed it, rather one seen in the last picture, or in the picture I will upload next.

I visit Los Angeles regularly (pre-pandemic).  When I do, a number of friends and I get into uniform and have a drink at the Scum and Villainy Bar in Hollywood.

If you are in the area Monday, May 23rd, 6PM Pacific Time please join me (in uniform) and we would be glad to see you.

This is NOT a legion function.  Just a gathering of friends before the start of the convention week.
