buckrogersbarker got a reaction from xAlpha in Fictional Space Bad Guys, Not Real World Bad Guys
Some things should go without saying, but we live in an age where we do have to say things. I will cross post this in the Officer's Mess too.
At no times will this detachment be a home or accepting to people that are friendly to or espouse the ideas behind fascism, Nazism or any totalitarian ideology. We dress up as fictional space bad guys. Conflating any of the above with doing that is not only morally wrong, it puts at risk what we do here in this detachment and the legion as a whole. We will not allow such a risk.
I have spoken to members who have belonged to reenacting groups that have had those ideologies come into them. That will not be permitted here, not under this administration. And if that day ever comes that it would be allowed, I would hope you would join me in finding another hobby.
There will be no litmus tests for members. If you are a reenactor, I hope you enjoy doing it and I hope you keep the ideology out of it. There is no conversation over re-enacting that you cannot take private. And if you are an open adopter of the ideologies listed above, no one wants to hear it...ever. If you see something in violation of this, please contact the staff and we will deal with it promptly.

buckrogersbarker got a reaction from Detaleader in Crewman (Non saga) Update Proposal
the interchangeability of parts from costume to costume inside of detachments and then across other costumes in other detachments used to be a feature of the legion 13 years ago. This allowed someone to create a bridge crew and then some time later do an imperial gunner or a TIE pilot. This was considered an entry level that allowed members to progress to other costumes. We have lost that somewhat in recent years because of changes that are so specific it would derail this ability.
I am going to have a Spreadsheet put together showing parts that could be shared including things like this flightsuit so if we do set about making changes we can do it in a coordinated fashion with other CRL across other detachments.
The problems with making changed because of photos of a costume from a new production has to be balanced with the photos of the same costume from earlier costumes.... is there a new variant? or does the previous CRL based around the early production evidence is it wrong. We are going to have to dig into this, because I am not entirely certain that we have justification to what has already been built. We may have just a new variant.... which may necessitate the construction of a new costume to capture.

buckrogersbarker got a reaction from Katsu Ma'roy in Celebration London April 7-10 - General Discussion - Travel & Planning
I need to just get this out. I am not going to be able to attend Celebrations London in April. It is not going to be possible. My father has cancer. He has a pretty bad one (not that there are good ones). We have known since Thanksgiving and he completed a very aggressive regimen of chemo and radiation a couple of weeks ago. He had and still is having a rough time of it. I stayed with my parents during the last week of treatment to help out as I could. He is getting better now and every day some of his strength returns. But he has a very serious surgery still ahead around the time of the convention. I plan to be there with him when this happens.
Everything that was planned for Celebrations will still happen. I have very good people working on the staff of the IOC Detachment that have everything covered. They will see that everything happens without a hitch. Things I planned to bring to people will still get to them, either in the mail or hand carried by friends. The only real loss is not seeing people that I love dearly. I had hoped to go to Celebrations and for a week in addition in the rest of Europe, but that will have to wait.
I am only giving the reasons for this now as people have been asking and wondering. I want to thank everyone who has been thinking and praying for my family. Knowing that helps immensely.

buckrogersbarker got a reaction from Alay in Cosky Staff Officer ANH
that is not an ANH Staff costume. ANH Staff has the collar close on the side and the princess seams in the back do not come from the arms.
That is a security services officer uniform. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Temp-Imperial-Staff-Officer_(Non_Saga)
It should work for them, but do take care checking what they get. What is advertised and what they actually get can be two separate things.

The LMO team is still being stood up at the moment. It could be a few more weeks before they can acquire and look at this. In the meantime if you want to propose changes with text with color showing what is removed and what is added, we could then evaluate this a bit better.

If you think we have enough references here I will contact the LMO office to come and take a look at the reference photos.
They will then have a vote and if they approve you can get started and we will assist you in writing the CRL.
@commanderWoufwouf are you good with that?
