    Dimentex asks:
First of all, thank each of you for stepping out - filling BJ's shoes is no easy task, and each of you is a credit to IOC to attempt to do so.

    My questions are as follows
1.) IOC is the second largest detachment (last I looked) behind FISD.  What makes you feel you are up to the task to lead our motley crew?
2.) Between Rebels and Rogue One there are a mass of new Officer costumes, or updates to old ones, and yet not many of those CRL's have been changed or added.  Appreciating the new rules that a CRL is done with a member making the costume, how would you try to streamline the process as much as possible to grow our costume options?  And how would you try to encourage new costumes to be made and not just talked about?
3.) There have been some fairly strong (yet almost always courteous) disagreements about certain costumes points over the last year or so.  How would you try to resolve it to the satisfaction of everyone involved?  (For example, proposed changes to dosimeters or rank badges.)

    Thank you for your time.

1- I've been in management for over 30 years now.  Also, as stated before, I'm very active in Detachment and Garrison staffs as well.  Officers are a very civilized bunch overall.   I find most of our members respectful and eager to assist others, making leading this detachment more of an honor than a duty.

2- First off, I haven't been as involved in the CRL process as BJ has.   There have been several instances that there have been debates ongoing about details best left to L2 or L3.   The focus needs to be set on getting the Basic, 501st level CRL in place and amending as needed for L2 and L3.  There will be an area in the forum for members to present and perfect any additions to a new CRL.  Some members do need to realize that just because they may have been the first to present a CRL, doesn't mean that there aren't points that may need amended.  Another consideration to keep in mind, the IOC doesn't have the final say in a CRL, we only present our recommendations.  The LMO has the final say of its content.

3- There will always be debates about changes to anything posted.  I'd like to say leave well enough alone, but that will never work...lol.  The best way to get the majority to agree about any changes would to vote on any proposed update to a CRL or description.  So, we would have a detachment poll to ratify these changes.
I would also like to point out, the IOC doesn't always get informed of changes until after the fact.  I have a good relationship with the LMO, I hope that may help in the future.

I am a strong believer in leading by example. To that end, I believe that the leader of any of our Detachments should strive for the highest quality possible in regards to their costumes and screen accuracy. The Executor/Imperator program is a great way to recognize those achievements, and I personally believe the system does very well. That being said, here are my questions:

    1) For Rob and Robert: I see that neither of you have any recognition in either of those programs for higher levels of costume accuracy. Do you have specific reasons for your lack of participation? Are your personal costumes up to a high standard and do they match what we see on-screen in an exemplary fashion? What are your likes/dislikes about the Executor/Imperator program, and what, if anything, will you change should you be selected to lead?

    2) For Mark: In contrast, you have multiple costumes that meet the standards of the Imperator/Executor program. Do you believe the program is working as intended? What, if anything, would you change about it?

Thank you for your time, gentlemen, and best of luck!

I think these programs are working great.  They challenge members to perfect their costumes and to present a better image for the IOC.  I do intend to promote these programs more, just the attract more excited members.

    Motoss asks:

Hello candidates!  Thanks you for accepting nominations.  Here are my questions:

    1.  As others have noted we are the second largest detachment - however, smaller detachments have had much more success in actually introducing new costumes and putting out CRLs.  What role do you see the DL in moving this process along?

    2.  Our main costume is commonly used as a backup or when handlers are needed.  Bridge crew is beginning to be the "go-to" low budget costume for recruits in addition to Staff Officer.  Do you have any plans to help get more members in the officer uniform or to wear the officer uniforms they have more often?

    3.  For members of the Detachment who already have their costume built and don't intend to add on any more costumes within our Detachment, what do you feel the Detachment site adds for these members other than merch?

1- Let try to give a brief outline in the CRL process:
        1. Someone has to actually make the costume. 2. Said person must approach the DL or LMO to begin collectively working on it. The person must be involved because they can explain the costume parts and materials probably better than say me. 3. DL and LMO team must compile a detailed description and all agree what it should look like as well as all wording. 4. High-res photos must be taken of the model, all costume items for their individual descriptions and be photoshopped to remove background. 5. Then it goes to the LMO and legion Web Team where it will be in queue for addition the the main CRL wiki and be visible to everyone.
This isn't the answer to you question but the process that is involved.   The hold up has been some excessive debating on details that can maybe wait for amendment at a later date.  There is also quite a few CRLs for the LMO to add.   I will be able to take a more active stance in getting these added.  Members need to remember that this is a team effort and that not everyone's draft or pics can be used for the CRL.  The best version for the Legion will be used and sometimes, the DL doesn't make the final decision.  Ultimately, the LMO has the final say.
All I can do is to promise to do my best to smooth out the wrinkles in the process and to create a forum for interested IOC members can add to this process.

2- Promote, suggest and lead by example.  That is how I get members of my Garrison to don an IOC costume.  I just make it look good, that makes others want to do it.  I will promote the Halls of Commemoration awards to urge members to wear and document IOC costume trooping.  I may even consider some swag awards.

3-  Some of the best friendships I have were started in the IOC.  We try to add information and to provide a platform to share ideas and triumphs.  We are an information source, a lot of members only want that but I try to make a welcoming and safe place to share.   But you have to admit, we've had some great merch too.

This question is for Robert. You have stated: "I am not asking for the forum to be shut down and I am glad it suits your needs, but it doesn’t suit the needs of most imperial officers in the legion.  This lack of service has meant that they go their own way and consult only with their garrisons.  A closed facebook group would not supplant what you get here.  It would add access for people that would not normally go here and provide them with a connection to the detachment.  A worth cause rather than them wandering the wilderness."
Considering the forum has over 6,000 members, and at minimum 200 active posters, I find your generalizations about "most imperial officers in the legion" to be glib, and frankly untrue. In ten years as an officer, I believe you have missed opportunities to connect with active members all over the world by not participating here. There is a method in place here for hopeful recruits to introduce themselves, find a dearth of information, and get help from active officers in creating the best costumes they can.
My question is this: How can that be achieved from a closed facebook group? For those that are on social media, we have a very active open facebook page, would you continue to see that remains accessible or would you close the group? If you operated two facebook pages and a forum simultaneously, would that not confuse new people more?

To all 3 candidates  DL is a very demanding position with lots that go on behind the scenes, how much about the position are you aware of and what experience do you have in legion roles do you have that would qualify you for the position?

I'll refer to my first answer for the specifics of this one as well.  For pretty much my entire 5 years in the 501st, I have served in at least one or multiple positions on Command Staffs at the Detachment and Garrison levels.  Specifically 4 years on the IOC Staff.

My initial question for all three candidates is - because some of you are known to us and active on the boards, and some of you are not ; Who are you?
Also, be prepared for a follow up question.

I'll start by saying that I've been in the 501st since 2011.  I first joined Bloodfin Garrison, I served a short time as GCOG there.  I was next a charter member of the Northern Darkness Garrison where I'm about to embark on my 3rd year as GML.  I'm also on the staff of the FISD, 1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment as its Provost Marshal. I've held that position for over 4 years now.  I also helped to develop and start up the Fireteam program for the FISD.

I joined the IOC in 2012.  When we started the Executor/Imperator program, I was the first approved Executor.  Since I was first, BJ asked me to be the first IOC Deployment Officer.  I held that position for a year and then I was asked to serve as Executive Officer.  As XO, I have learned the Administrative portion of running the IOC.  I have filled in for BJ quite a bit due to his very hectic schedule last year.  The XO and DL have to keep track of all the new members coming in via the 501st Membership Data Base, which has had some issues due to the age of that programing, as several members may have found out this year.

That's the facts so far, looking forward to a follow up.
