This has been common knowledge for a long time. Just another oversight in the CRL that we need to fix

I'd say yes. You've provided good, and as clear as we'll get, reference images.

Great work, I'm always trying to improve the accuracy of my costumes, getting them as close as I can to the films. It's nice to see this in others.

Final call goes to the senior detachment staff, but looks good to me.

I actually think it's more think the new Armored Combat Driver without the faceplate.  There's a guy over at the Armored Cavalry Detachment who scratch-built the whole set.  A new paint job and a mounted rank bar and you have Tarkin's armor.  I just wish Kallus' armor was a little more standard.

I personally like the idea of officers in armor.  I had more respect for Veers than any of the high ranking Naval officers because he strapped on that armor and got into the thick of the fighting.

I was discussing the officer uniform on another forum - when Peter Briggs a screenplay writer who's currently developing Panzer 88 with Gary Kurtz made this comment:
"I remember that John Mollo told me that his intent with the "Black Officers" was to make them Vader's personal troops…they were Vader's very own "SS". I was surprised at that, as I always assumed they were simply a standard Imperial rank. Likewise, John told me that the white/cream uniformed guy in the Death Star conference was modeled after Goering, and he was meant to be a sort of Air Field Marshall of the Imperial Fleet. John took his job very seriously. I think it showed!"
I couldn't think where to put it, but I thought it was worth sharing, for those who hadn't heard it.

I went with a similar style cap when I first started the costume, without doing enough research I couldn't see the problem. Whilst reasonably well made they're not very accurate. The peak is a little too long, the peak should really be more like an ellipse than a circle. The main part of this cap is cylindrical instead of conical.

It's taken me a while to find some of my early pics, believe me when I say I'm not proud of them, and cringe when I see them.

I worked with another lady, who sadly no longer produces custom caps to identify the differences between the inaccurate and onscreen cap.

As you can see my black cap sits too far back on the head, the proportions of the peak are wrong, and main shape of the cap was more cylindrical than conical.

Here's a pic of what we came up with.

This is my current cap (Museum Replicas, sadly discontinued)

This is the look you're aiming for

I think this picture, (some of the UK Garrison officers), helps to illustrate the difference in colours, even within the same company. I don't think it would be right to have a Museum Replicas olive cap on a CosplaySky uniform, but Staff officer works well.

    From left to right:
AT AT commander - Museum Replicas
ANH Line Officer - Museum Replicas
RotJ Line Officer - Museum Replicas
ANH Staff Officer - Museum Replicas
    ISB Officer - Clothears

I use old socks to protect my accessories.  I put an old sock over my belt buckle and the belt boxes and wrap my dosimeters and rank badge in an old wash cloth.

Yesterday I received an email to inform me I'd been nominated for the Imperial Officer Corp Detachment Leader position. Needless to say I was flattered by the nomination, I'm an Officer Armourer in the UK Garrison, assisting people with their Officer costume builds and offering constructive criticism in ways they can improve their costume to make it look like they just stepped off the movie set.

I'm pleased, using reference found here, to say I was the first person in the 501st to clear with the movie accurate 'Fahrenheit 451' style Staff Officer uniform, and have both Imperator standard Line and Staff Officer uniforms.

I've been a member of this forum for a number of years, and have supported the current detachment leader Mr Savage.

Sadly, after a lot of thought, I've declined the nomination. I believe Mr Savage is doing a great job with the detachment, I would like to offer him my support and am looking to assist the Imperial Officer Corp detachment staff where possible.

    Thanks,

Well worth the two hour drive each way. It was great seeing the guys. As soon as I saw Kenneth Colley (Admiral Piett) had signed up for the convention I booked the date, I haven't seen him sign up for any other conventions, and Michael Culver isn't as frequent either. I had a good chat about officer uniform material with Alan Flyng, and touched base with Chris Muncke - the real Captain Khurgee (getting my first picture of me in costume next to him). Great day - "I love the core!"

It depends on the size of the buttons. I haven't seen either of these buttons in person, to me the dimensions sound a little large.
I swear by the push buttons, I believe they are more accurate - and look smarter, though I was lucky to get enough when they were more readily available. But this depends on size, if the proportions are wrong I'd recommend acrylic.

It's annoying, whenever I've bought from MuR I've had to pay three times the listed price due to postage and customs charges. The only thing that stops me buying a MuR costume is that I think the neck isn't tall enough compared to the screen versions.
    Sarah,
I see what you mean now, with the two costumes I've bought from them they were two large, it didn't occur to me they could be too small.
