Okay gang!  I meant to have this up an hour ago, but I had some last minute costumers stop over for help.
 
So the vote was close, but "keep it the same" won.  However, there was enough people who Sunday works much better for.
Thus, we will be having TWO IOC photos!
 
Both will be inside on the grand concourse stairs (same as the main IOC Photo - yes the third location for that).
We will have one on Friday at 12:30 pm.  If you can make that one, please do!
There will also be one on Sunday at 10:00 am.  That's an hour after the main Legion photo.  Again, both at the same spot.
 
I'll be at both.  But not everyone can be.  So I hope that this makes everyone happy.  Or makes everyone angry.
 
We do need a photographer for Friday.  If anyone has someone they know, PM me.  Otherwise we'll use cellphone cameras.  Everyone has one, and their all pretty darn good.
Drew @Tiger0419 reached out to a Garrison member photographer who has agreed to help us out Friday, so we're covered.
We can do multiple photographers of course (either day), so if you have a significant other, or other family member that wants to use their phone to take a photo by all means do.
 
This is the final plan.  If Reed Pop pulls the rug out on anyone again, I'm throwing my hands up and walking away.

So I guess we should find out not long after.    The above quote is on page 3 of the Galactic March post on the main 501st forums.

ReedPop, the host of the con has done another general Comic Con for years called C2E2 (which is also at McCormick Place).  The weapons policy is exactly the same and blasters, lightsabers, etc have always been allowed at C2E2.

Typically security will want to look at the weapon, and upon determining it is not real, will put a zip tie or band on it indicating it has been inspected, this is at least my past experience.

They can be hard plastic, resin, or even have metal bits, so long as they aren't built from a deactivated actual firearm (or pellet gun, airsoft gun, etc).

I am flying, but I am shipping my Commander Cody armor, so I'd just put the blaster in with that if I decide to bring one.
 

I'm not. For me, it just isn't worth the hassle.
Too realistic is no go. Big orange tip required.
Can't be metal or hard plastic depending on which section of the policy you read.
Just a big bother.

Just found out the other day I can make it and will be staying at the Hyatt with some Garrison mates.  Will fly in either Wednesday or maybe Thursday and leaving on Monday.  I'll probably be in my staff officer Friday Afternoon for the IOC photo and Saturday all day.  Friday Morning and Sunday I'll be in Commander Cody.

I tend to agree with Kris.  Sure at a basic level we are all cosplayers, however the organization that the 501st Legion has in addition to the high level of screen accuracy that we strive for makes us costumers.     So basically in my opinion, a costumer is a higher level of cosplay.

While at Celebration on Thursday I was wearing my staff officer uniform and a small child, who couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old and he was dressed as a Stormtrooper stopped in front of me, came to attention and gave me a salute.   I promptly came to attention myself and saluted him back, I think that will be one of my favorite memories from Orlando.
