You can buy Neodymium "rare earth" magnets at home improvement stores. They're rather inexpensive, and come in packs of 3, 6, 12 etc.

For my hat disc I epoxied one on the back of the disc and another slides inside the front flap. Holds firm and can be repositioned easily if needed.

I have TONS of respect for CS's legendary customer service. I also respect their pricing, and the fact that I don't have to stab myself hundreds of times trying to sew an officer uniform myself by buying from them.

That said, I have to wonder: if their sewing was a BIT better, would they need the amazing customer service? Food for thought.

Actually, as a GML, I prefer the candidate contact me and/or the Garrison first, we can  walk them through the process and save some extra steps.  We can get to know each other and even have a future member come help out at troops to get a feel for what we do.

Hmm, a delicate subject to address, eh?  I wouldn't know how to approach it, other than similar to my post above.  Because I'm appreciative of what they've offered, and done for everyone.  How not to sound ungrateful, ya know?

I have discussed the same issue with a couple of fan made cap suppliers, and come to a common ground with one of the UK suppliers.
There is a little variance in the cap peaks we see in the films, but on the whole I agree with you. My rule of thumb was the visor is just over half the height of the crown.
I think the main 'problem' stems from there being a pattern in the public domain and people have used this verbatim. Another problem is that caps are pretty tough to make in the first place. Getting anything half decent is a major achievement. I would like to see more accurate caps, especially the stitching on the visor, the gap between the concentric stitching can be a little too wide.
I have worked to help make improvements to the uniforms and helped raise the standards of the costumes produced, but don't have the time to do everything. I have found if you champion a cause, provide a convincing argument, produce an example, do it well people will follow your lead. This has been on my to do list, but other tasks have taken priority. If you could pick up the baton and approach one of the common cap suppliers who's cap is a 'little off' and work with them to improve the accuracy that'd be great.

That's a major help, thanks! I didn't realize that they were buttons, always thought it was a solid plastic .
The links didn't work but the part #'s did. I'll add them to this post:

As an Officer you can yell at people , it's super effective when you need to clear a path for your half blind Stormtrooper soldiers , or when you need to keep a specific location clear , say ... Around some props at Celebrations because people can't read " Don't touch " signs

As an officer you should get into the spirit of it, a little bit of British pomp and ceremony and perhaps a little stern ordering of troopers.... to show what officers are all about.
    Then. You won't go unnoticed.

That's pretty much the case with many costume related vendors. Quality-wise, I got my FO TK boots from them, and they were great.

One thing i neglected to mention whilst the pull of these magnets are strong the magnets themselves are fragile and can break easy, be careful with them

We don't have Home Depot here , the " best " magnets i've found around are black board magnets and drawer magnets , it would barely hold the greeblie into place

I was thinking the same thing. I was watching them with interest back when it was at $40. But now you might as well go Todds costumes, Hessen Antiques, or Magnoli for same price.

The only thing that i often regret while trooping as an officer is the lack of interest for the costume because you actually have a face .
Unless you're into a real geek 'con or a SW Celebration , some people won't even know what franchise you come from unless you take a walk with a Stormtrooper buddy and so on
Worst part is when they actually ask you to step aside because they just want the Stormtroopers .
Does that just happen here ? Or in some other countries people are more enthusiast about all costumes ?
