I picked up the Imperial Handbook last year, and I really wished that they printed a version without all that "Rebel Graffiti" in it.

I was a bit disappointed that the " comments " weren't from Imperials , because the book had " fallen into the hands of Rebels following the Imperial defeat over Endor " .
Would've been a bit better since the annotations in the Jedi Path are from Jedi and the BH code from Bounty Hunters ... Sith does have Jedi comments as well i think :/

  2. I feel that the New Canon is making " efforts " to publish a little more books taking place on the " bad guys' " point of view .
Although none of the protags of Lost Stars was bad so to say , half the book did take place from an Imperial pov , Tarkin definitely took place from an Imperial pov , a certain portion of Catalyst as well , now we get that ... :)

Since it takes place after Rogue One , i hope they're going to squeeze in a few good old OT characters like they did in Lost Stars .

  3. I think all Star Wars books published now have " official approval " from Disney , so they should all be canon :)
I was agreeably surprised by Lost Stars as well , i'm not much of a fan of teen romance but it turned out to be an awesome book , with a lot of insight on the New Canon Empire , particularly the progression of the characters from aspiring Cadets to Officers , and so on .

  5. It's well written and a pretty good depiction of ... well , his life :P

I too think he was quite relatable . I've seen people complain that he's too whiny for a villain but when you look back at the movie and Catalyst , i wonder how people would feel if their moment of glory would be stolen by a douchy boss after having invested years of your life into a massive project , dealing with all the issues and setbacks yourself , and getting zero credit for it in the end :D

  6. I don't remember where as Wookieepedia is quite vast , but i know i stumbled someday on a list of all non-human Officers .
It wasn't huge , but Thrawn was " far " from being the only one .
I know for sure that there were a couple Zabrak Officers . Most of them were near-human though ( like Zabraks , as opposed to Wookiees or Trandoshans for instance ) ,but the fair skin ones like Bao-Dur , not the kind with fancy tattoos like Maul :P

If you want to make an alien Officer , go for it !!

You have my total support for that :D

  7. Questions for Robert G. Barker

I have read your various answers , and so far i noticed you have mostly emphasized on those facts :

    - You work in nuclear power plants

    - You want to change a lot of things in the IOC

    •  What is that makes you think that all the changes you want to apply would be supported by the majority of active IOC members , or that the said majority wants so many changes all of a sudden ? While i approve of the Wiki idea it would require either one VERY motivated member to make , or several members in charge of a " web team " , preferably with vague knowledge of HTML and CSS . Everything is working pretty fine in the Detachment so far , we're just suffering from a few unfortunate issues very specific to our lovely Detachment , and there is a french saying about " not changing a winning team / working recipe " .

    • You refer every now and then to a lack of interest in some of the newer costumes available for us and the lack of new CRLs being made , particularly since Rebels and Rogue One have a lot to offer . I think i recall Kris opening a Rogue One topic with visual references for a whole lot of new costumes ( here : http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F7138-rogue-one-officers-visual-guide%2F#comment-84160 ) on which people have expressed their excitement about the new options available and discussed the new rank variants . So , if you are to be elected , are you planning to dedicate a bit more of your time to the forum so as to be a bit more in touch with its members and what people are or are not interested about ?

      And last but not least

    • You yourself Kris proudly where a rank badge taken from a recent Marvel series of comics.  I think that is AWESOME.  And you knew what you had to do to get that onto this chart. That chart is mostly empty of what is currently out there in the canon lucasfilm universe of imperial ranks.
    • Kris' rank is Grand General from ANH , the same as Tagge . I have also noticed on your election banner that you are ( according to the IOC's Rank guide ) rocking the rank of General with a Staff Officer uniform , while the CRL states very clearly ( at least for L3 ) that :

There are only three choices of rank bar for ANH staff officers
      - One row of four blue tiles.
      - One row of four blue tiles and two amber tiles.
      - One row of two or three red tiles.

I find it a bit ironical for someone who wants to encourage fellow members to go for L2 and L3 to not sport a more accurate rank configuration himself . Which leads me to my final question ( forgive my lacking vocabulary in English , this may sound a bit harsher than intended ) : I fail to see how someone with a questionable knowledge about Official IOC ranks and the CRLs makes a good candidate for Detachment Leader , as opposed to ... say Mark , that has a most accurate uniform and de facto extensive knowledge about the CRLs since he's Imperator . Maybe you have plans to remedy to that situation ?

Thank you for your time and good luck for the elections ! :)

  8. Fellow Officers , here is a good article from the LA Times about Krennic's costume , it seems they got a few of the costuming department people to talk a bit . In short , we all already knew several capes had been made for the movie , it's obvious they just don't use one or two . So according to the article there were TWELVES different capes . Some more light-weight , some more heavy , some waterproof , basically one for every situations . And most likely a couple just in case one was dirtied during a shot or something .
They confirm the cape is white and not a light shade of grey , although they seemed to regret their decision at some point .

The only odd thing that strike me in the article is that they say the cape was made of gabardine , while the Celebration board states " cotton weave " .
So i suppose some were made from cotton , others from gabardine . I wish they would've made it clear which ones , or what the raincoat / poncho was made of .

Yes there were. In canon as well.

Read lost stars. One of the characters there points out the cadets being human and alien.

Yes true enough , i think it's Thane who mostly comments about the alien cadets . I like how the New Canon is trying to make the franchise a bit less " male human-centered " :P

  10. Well in the EU there used to be a lot more non-human imperials than we think . There's a full list somewhere on Wookieepedia but i had a hard time finding it even the first time .

Besides Thrawn there were a handful of aliens working as engineers for the Empire , like a Sluissi for the ISB . Zabrak officers weren't common but there was more than one , they just stagnated at lower ranks .

IIt' be awesome if the Imperial Agent from SWTOR would be validated someday , it'd allow for all kinds of alien Imps :)

  11. Glad to know the " keep your legs fully stretched " seems to be a universal problem :/
I suppose we try so hard to tuck the breeches in our boots to remove all the folds around the knees that we also end up keeping them from moving a single centimetre when we bend our legs .

It's a bit less of an issue when you wear " real " breeches from Epic Militaria or something , the tend to allow a tad bit more movement as opposed to costume breeches which were not exactly made to be worn all day long in all kinds of situation .

  12. I also have all sorts of problems when i sit or duck to grab something low .
It makes my breeches look like some fashion leggings two sizes too small , i'm surprised they haven't ripped open yet . And the tunic itself gets so tight around the waist it often gets uneasy to breath properly unless i lean back in the chair while the chest itself does puff up a bit indeed .

As you said i think the fact that Imperial Uniforms are form-fitting doesn't help , but in my experience it might also be because your uniform is too tight . Do you feel comfy in it when you stand up and move around , or do you already feel a bit constricted ? If you do don't look any further .
But i seriously doubt that you can get rid of the tunic puffing-up when you sit , your belt will always move at least a bit .
I know some people put velcro on their belts and their uniforms to keep them from mooving too much , perhaps you could try that :)

  13. I've never had similar issue with boots and most likely never will , but i've read that many people struggle to find fitting boots large sizes , or with large calves .

Stretching them yourself is probably the best solution you have right now if you can find a boot that you think won't require to be stretched 5 inches larger than it is ( so to speak , you get the idea ;) ) . Otherwise i'm afraid that your best solution will be to wait , spare and buy custom boots from Hessen Antiques or something . They often make promotions on custom made boots too .

It's best that you wait a bit and afford boots in which you will feel comfortable trooping for hours rather than go for the fastest / cheapest way , or you might regret it sooner than you think . If you have to spend more money on one thing , let it be your boots .

  14. ACTUALLY ....

There has already been a discussion regarding those trench-coats , and i hate to bring it up again but i have identified those coats months ago alongside Krennic's blaster and boots . The topic you are looking for is this one : http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6059-rogue-one/&page=3

Yeah , the trench-coat coat are really a nice addition . It seems logical as well that some Officers are wearing them if the weather isn't always great on a certain planet , but in the OT all of them were either on the Death Star or Star Destroyers so no need for any additional field equipment .

Looks to me like it was loosely based on the rubber trench-coat used by German motorized infantry during WW2 . And loosely is sort of an understatement here ...

    2je9wza.jpg

Thing is on those most recent pictures they don't quite look like rubber , so many it's the same kind of coat / pattern but made out of heavy duty fabric . After all those coats weren't exclusively used as rain-coats but were also wind-proof and dust-proof . Or maybe it's just rubber but matte instead of somewhat shiny . Can't wait for the Visual Guide , i'm sure it'll provide valuable informations and pictures as usual . After all they were kind enough to mention what was Hux's greatcoat made of in the TFA one , so they should mention the material for those coats as well . If they are indeed rubber coats they will be easy to find ... Sort of :)

Hmm ... They really look like they're made of heavy-weight fabric though , the parka kind of fabric , most likely treated to be water-proof as well . The have too many folds to be made of rubber . Dammit , we'll need to go custom made again ...

  15. ID boots aren't all that hard to find except when people need specific measurements , so there never really was a point in having IB make equestrian boots . But ever since TFA the costume designers working on the movies seem keen on making unique items not available on any market by adding plain odd shaped soles to boots like for Hux and the FO TIE pilots , so they may be interested in making black leather boots with that lovely little buckle on the back and a real marching role , not our usual thin equestrian soles responsible for sore feet after hours of trooping .

And since those are exact replica of WW2 boots , they might even attract a little part of non-Star Wars customers :)
