Centauri reacted to buckrogersbarker in Fictional Space Bad Guys, Not Real World Bad Guys
Some things should go without saying, but we live in an age where we do have to say things. I will cross post this in the Officer's Mess too.

At no times will this detachment be a home or accepting to people that are friendly to or espouse the ideas behind fascism, Nazism or any totalitarian ideology. We dress up as fictional space bad guys. Conflating any of the above with doing that is not only morally wrong, it puts at risk what we do here in this detachment and the legion as a whole. We will not allow such a risk.

I have spoken to members who have belonged to reenacting groups that have had those ideologies come into them. That will not be permitted here, not under this administration. And if that day ever comes that it would be allowed, I would hope you would join me in finding another hobby.

There will be no litmus tests for members. If you are a reenactor, I hope you enjoy doing it and I hope you keep the ideology out of it. There is no conversation over re-enacting that you cannot take private. And if you are an open adopter of the ideologies listed above, no one wants to hear it...ever. If you see something in violation of this, please contact the staff and we will deal with it promptly.

Centauri got a reaction from doc1863 in Attaching greeblie on Imperial Hat
Some people have greeblies backed with screws , i don't know where they get them from but it seems to be the most reliable way of attaching them .
Some people also glue them straight on the hat ...
Regarding magnets , i'd love to know where people find magnets strong enough to keep anything together in the first place , especially while assembling armours !

All my greeblies come from Elvis as well , what i do is use Epoxy ( or E6000 if you can find it in your country ) to back the greeblie with a lapel pin needle thing , then i just stick it through the cap and secure the other end with a small pin rubber cap , rather than the small metallic piece you usually get with lapel pins . I don't know if it makes any sense explained like that though

Centauri got a reaction from Hask in Commander Hask CRL placeholder
All right , since there seems to be quite an argument going on about Hask , i'm going to throw my 2 Imperial credits here ...

The previous screenshots of the game have proved that there are differences between the petite redhead's uniform ( generic ) and Hask's , " minor " differences but differences nevertheless . In real life , we'd say this is due to the person's frame and thus tailoring constraints . But our references come from a video game , where tailoring constraints are - if anything - nonexistent and where everything if possible from a tailoring point of view .

So , that leaves us with two distinct uniforms , even if they're differentiated by minor differences like placement of the seams .
And regarding the colour being the same but appearing different under different lighting conditions , well , we've always been about ' screen accuracy ' haven't we ? So if the Game Devs say all uniforms are grey , but one looks black or has a blu-ish hue in a certain scene , well we make two different uniforms .

But for me it really gets down to one simpler thing that makes all the costume differences pretty irrelevant .

Hask has his own CRL as part of Inferno Squad , he's a main character in the game .
So , why should he suddenly fall into the " generic " category when he puts on a FO Uniform ? He remains a " Hero character " , does he not ?
So that really settles the issue in my opinion .

Hask should have his own CRL .

Let's not be scared of a bunch of work, let be scared of poorly understood CRL's.
The point here is that it is clearly not "the same costume".
We should always push for better accuracy and understanding.
Being too generic is just crazy and with the added language translation issues for a worldwide organisation, we need to keep things simple, not convenient for the CRL writers.
As for Hask being held up to Skywalker...... at least he didn't just fade away

This is entirely correct , yet you're overlooking a point that several people brought up already and that keeps being brushed aside .

Hask is a Hero character like Iden and the rest of Inferno Squad , and by the end of the game , the main antagonist .
    He's NOT a generic character , period .

Or we might as well just delete the Hux CRL because he could be a Generic FO General , downgrade Tarkin to a Generic Grand Moff , etc ...

Just like the make up for Maul is part of the costume, or Savaage, or the paint job of specific clones, or the paint job of the mandalorians (or else the Mando mercs would be 501st because it's just the costume, and there's is the plates and helmet)

To me "Generic Officer" and "Hask" are as different as "Generic Jedi" and "Luke Skywalker". We all grumble and moan at the inaccuracies, differences and ambiguities in CRL's, and having them separate enables the staff and members to create a more accurate and more importantly understandable definition of the costume.
This is a no-brainer in my mind.

The CRL can be inconsistent or incomplete when it comes to certain details , so there is stuff you end up learning by spending hours roaming around here , looking at the Executor and Imperator status requests . I think i can safely say that most of the things i learned regarding our lovely uniforms i learned by reading Phil's comments on the promotion board

I was proud to stand among all of you in London , particularly since the Officers are a rare view around here . I won't be missing another IOC photoshoot anytime soon

Question on this.  We have several discussions going for edits or additions to existing CRL's (Krennic to remove some of the wording that crept in specific to the model's costume and not the screen used prop, ISB due to Rogue One, Navy Trooper due to Rogue One, Bridge Crew due to harder looks at the photographs, etc).  So are you saying you and/or Eric will read these discussions and make decisions outside of DL sign off, or that if/when DL signs off you'll make the decision, or a little from both (you'd read, go to DL, etc for example)?

I ended up buying a pair off of TK3100 since he's building a krennic costume as well plus he had them in my size and knew how they ran small. I'm keeping these bookmarked just in case though! Thank you for all the advice and assistance!

If you can buy them DO SO !!

Heck , i'd even buy them myself for Reenactment if the guy had any clue as to what size they actually are . They'd make a nice addition to my Luftwaffe uniform ...

Keep in mind that the rank bars in Rebels' are quite stylistically different from those in the Original Trilogy.

Using the FISD as an example - While to the general public "a Stormtrooper is a Stormtrooper is a Stormtrooper"... they see no difference between them, yet we have unique CRLs for ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB, ROTJ - yet they have recently created a whole Star Wars Rebels section on the forums to focus on the differences between the new Rebels TKs and those from Original Trilogy films - with a CRL in the making. (Mark & Kris can I have a Rebels area for us to talk Rebels in - pretty please )

So granted while it's good to have easy entrance position we also need to keep in mind the unique parts of the costume - or else we just get a whole heap of Original Trilogy Officers running around calling themselves Rebels Era and then we look silly in front of the Legion.

On your first point - That's one of the things I am doing with this project is to not just make a costume, get approved and look awesome  but to also find sources for the unique parts.

I don't know who suggested that Soviet boots look anything the same as German boots , because they clearly do not .

That's the topic you want to check .

As for the boots , they can be purchased easily from this website , but i'm not overly convinced on the look , the sole seems a little thin in my opinion , they're 90% good reproductions , not 100% good . Looks to me like they took your average equestrian boot and put the buckle flap in the back instead of trying to reproduce the thicker , sturdier look of the marching boot .

Tarkin is like , the most popular Officer of all times , it's never much of a surprise to see him pop .

But damn yes , i would totally lose it if they'd throw in a Colonel Veers at some point . Come oooooon , everyone who's ever played a single Star Wars strategy game knows he's always been around , even before ANH . Same for a certain Captain Piett
