Centauri got a reaction from Ruthar in New Rebels Episode Officer Overload!
Definitely one of the best episodes so far
In the Legend Thrawn was an able fighter as well , and seeing an Officer fight is always a welcomed and refreshing view from the usual " hide behind Stormtroopers and be useless " Officer cliché .

I had hopes Kallus would permanently join the Ghost Crew , as him remaining on the Chimaera makes me fear for his life even more than before . He is entirely at Thrawn's mercy , the second the Rebel base is discovered he could be arrested and executed , although it's more like Thrawn to wait until he can lay a trap that would mean both the Rebels and Kallus' demise at the same time . Maybe they'll keep that for the season Finale or some later episode ( even season Four perhaps ? ) .

As for the possible appearance of movie characters , yes i definitely hope that will happen . Krennic in Rebels ? Yes please , where do i sign ?
They've already tied in with Rogue One a bit with Saw Gerrera on Geonosis , we've seen Death Troopers in the trailer accompanying Thrawn ...
Although i feel that they're not super keen on making movie characters appear unless it really serves their purpose .
I mean , i've had my hopes high a while back when a trailer had shown a battle involving AT-ATs , could've meant a brief Veers cameo before his promotion to General , buuut no .

Like James said , sounds to me like one of those costumes who's likely to end up in both 501st and RL , just like the Clones and a few others .

He was technically an Imperial researcher even though he worked against the Empire after Lah'mu , nobody knew .

I hope to see more people have a go at Galen's uniform soon

I wish they would re-do the old Imperial Officers with the quality Sideshow provides now

Still trying to collect the small Hasbro figures too .

The essential of my Imperial collection are my 3 Gentle Giant busts , Thrawn , Veers and Renz , which recently broke to bits after the shelf they were on fell off . Yaaaay !

Why do you have the Krennic , you don't even like him

OK, great - thank you for the feedback!

It might take a little more time than I would like to get the new components tracked down as this is a crazy busy time of year for me, but I will certainly see to it. An upgraded pair of gloves has been ordered while I start experimenting with darkening the leather holster. Please stand by!

OK last one for tonight - I'll tackle diagramming all the other seams later, but here's how the Arm Slit openings are made. If you know how to make a bound buttonhole, it is very similar. And of course there's a layer of fabric underneath everything to fill in/close up the opening so you can't really put your arm through it (probably so it didn't gap open all the time). It's way, way past my bedtime - more later!

Next topic - Seams on Cape, part 1

#1 - Basically the whole front edge of the cape: collar, yoke, and front side panel - are all 2 layers of fabrics with a seam on the edge. The Collar & yoke have a single line of topstitching .25" way from the edge, while the front side panel has no topstitching along the edge.

#2 - That angled stitching on the front panel - it has a seam along the top edge of the 3 lines of topstitching. I suspect this was an easy way for the costume makers to consistently mark on both sides where they wanted that those lines of stitching to go. But anyway - there's a seam there and then the 3 topstitching lines right below, the seam is only on the front layer of fabric, but I think the topstitching goes through both layers of fabric.

Hello! My name is Katie D Keith. I've been invited by Mark to work with Meg to figure out how to correct and improve the CRL for the Krennic Cape. I have not been active on the forum but I've been making 501st costumes for the last few years - Mark was my first costumer. I have a Associated Degree in Costume Construction from Indiana University (IU) and a MA in Apparel Design from Cornell. I taught Fashion Design Illustration at IU for 3.5 years before I had my son, who's is turning 3 this weekend. I actually found out I was pregnant the day after I met Mark for his first fitting. My son kept me quite busy for awhile, but now I'm finally getting a chance to spend more time working on costume commissions, and I'm known for making the First Order hats. So basically my background is strong in clothing construction knowledge, thorough research skills, and teaching through effective communication, both verbal and visual. I learned when teaching how important it was to clearly communicate my instructions to best achieve consistent understanding by my many students. I also have a very keen eye for details from my Master's research and all the grading I did as a professor. And what I'm also offering you is a fresh eye and perspective to this wonderful lot of photos that provide so much info about this costume as well as the images from the Rogue One Visual Guide. (I am also working on a Krennic costume for Mark so I've been researching it for awhile myself - and the cape is my next part)

Now onto my findings... first up, Cape Yoke & Collar

#1 Cape Yoke Length: I agree that we don't need specific measurements for the cape yoke on the CRL when landmarks or providing a range of measurements will do (I've had issues with specific measurements that were too big for the size I was making). But I did figure out why those yoke measurements were shorter than expected. It is because the Cape collar sits down away from the jacket collar, say about .5"-1", and the yoke side ends somewhere past the jacket princess seams but before the end of the jacket/sleeve seam, about 1" or more depending on how the cape is laying. You can see the how the cape portion goes out level with the yoke and then drops down over the edge of the jacket along the sleeve. But as pictured, this yoke is not meant to extend the full length from jacket collar to jacket sleeve seam. The front edge of the yoke starts about a 1" or less from the jacket collar and ends about 1" or more away from the jacket's edge, some where between the jacket princess seam and the sleeve seam.

#2: Cape & Jacket Collars: I like to use items in the photo that have known size and relate it to other parts of the costume - though i know it isn't perfect, it at least gives me a rough idea of proportions. Based on this, I think that both collars are roughly the same height - a bit longer than the height of the rank bar, so maybe ~2.8"-3", as I think the jacket collar does extend a bit more below the front jacket. The reason that the cape collar is lower than the jacket is because it is attached down away from the jacket collar, as explained in #1. The stitching lines on the cape collar are also a good indicator of overall height - I'd agree there about .25" apart so the collar again should be at least 2.75" - maybe almost 3".

    Yay! Higher resolution version:

I'm working on a full diagram on the cape front, back, top - but it is going to take some time and I think I need to drape my pattern of the cape to get a better idea of the part proportions/sizes. In the meantime - I'll post my research as I figure things out.

The line on the back side of the yoke - it is a single line of topstitching (not a seam) that goes from the collar straight to the stitching on the side panel's back seam - it probably even is a continuous line of stitching from yoke onto the cape seam.

    A few thoughts...

    1. The rain version will certainly be part of the same CRL, it will just be an option.
    2. I'm guessing the flash back will be a version of an existing CRL, even if it's a variation of the ISB and say "or you can use this tunic".
    3. I would agree that we shouldn't mention how the cape is attached, as it's not visible to leave it up to each person making it how they want to do it.

Wow! A lot to respond to in an hour! I love you guys.

I'll talk to my partner about this. We'll likely use copious references from the game, combined with some existing CRLs of officer uniforms, to get an idea of how to proceed. Getting those three detailed references shouldn't be a problem, knock on wood! And then write up the CRL probably together? Based on the work put into it. We'll include some variances (collar insignia colors, belts, etc), and also what she ends up doing to make it Quinn as well. I've found several patterns that we can Frankenstein together to make it work, and I'm going to recommend garbadine wool as a good fabric for the base uniform. I'll let her decide on the type of leather to use for the accents - she is the leatherworker, not me!

As for my Sith Warrior, I'm not going to be building off of any direct reference from the game, and instead just create a design that's based on the Sith aesthetic. I'm not comfortable exposing my midsection, for example, but I am able to construct pieces of armor for a given design. I was going to approach it the way I would approach a costume design for a stage production, drafting a design based on a design board with inspirations and references from the canon materials. I didn't think that was acceptable (though the hair and makeup approach will certainly be canon - she is a Chiss, and I have experience in body paint and wigworking.  )

@Dimentex ! You are Star Garrison! That's where we are located; we are in the Frisco/The Colony area.

This probably came from the fact (if I were to hazard a guess) that there was a general consensus (as close as one could be had) on the CRL in the discussion thread, and then when it came out the other end the CRL was more closely matching your costume (the specifics on attachments and buttons and the like) and so on.  While I recognize that probably was born from LMO alterations, I can see how someone could possibly assume that you had submitted text as well.

Your WIP is awesome (save one thing - the text color in most of it is hard for this old man to read, but I can pull it into a word doc and fix that so I can read it).

I disagree, particularly as there is already an application in for higher level. And to be clear, I totally think that@unusedpizza's costume is bang on and probably deserves that higher level, just that the wording and diagrams is way off.

If we're changing one set, it makes sense to me to look at both so that they are harmonious. Some of the issues in level 2 could be fixed by the work in level 1 in places. (Like the differences in height between levels)

I will try, but it won't be a computer version and may take me a few days.

That bothers me, too, but I'm more invested in other aspects. I just really don't want poor costumes getting through based on a poor CRL, which I think could happen with this current one.

The character my partner wants to  build is Captain Quinn, from Star Wars: The Old Republic. Forgive my lower resolution screencap!

We were going to use established officer CRLs as a base guideline for fabrics and patterns, and build up from there. The SWTOR Sith Empire officer uniforms have those color contrasts and somewhat differing seamlines, but I thought using one of the Officer CRLs as a base to build upon was a sound idea. I certainly see the benefit of working on a CRL on the forums, as the costume is being built.

The CRL just came out , like most CRLs it will be subject to changes in the following months , and probably a couple other changes when Rogue One is released in BluRay and we have access to high-res screenshots of new scenes and all .

Every tailor / seamstress works differently and will probably have his / her own thoughts on the amount of snaps needed to close the tunic and hold the cape , so i don't think that we should impose on everyone the choice of the model's tailor . Depending on the weight and the kind of material one uses , he or she may require more or less snaps , buttons , ...

I don't think that the Staff Officers and Line Officers require a given amount of snaps , as long as the tunic closes properly , so by that logic , Krennic's tunic shouldn't either .

Uh, yeah...   I have 6 on mine and I'm 6'6".  12 is overkill to the extreme.

I agree on this as well (nice catch, I didn't see either one of these) - I have 4 buttons on mine and it stays in place.  That many and I fear it won't move (or will, but move wrong) - remember, it slid around on him a little as he moved - if you superglue it to the tunic it won't have the same flow (yeah, I know, snaps aren't super glue, but that many and they might as well be).

While i prefer clear and defined measurements as it usually helps the tailors and seamstresses , i think i'll have to second the percentage idea .
Any set / unique measurement will not look the same on different people .
I'm looking into getting a new tunic custom made , i'm 5'7 , if i follow the current CRL measurements exactly , i'll end up with odd stuff .

Fair enough - I still suggest it say "at least" instead of just flat measurements, so it's understood, but I get what you're saying.
