The spray ones won't do it either. Scotch Guard does not give the mattifying effect you see in this. Wax is more likely but it has to be IN the fabric not just on it.

So my reference shot is this:

You can see how the cape loses some of the weave detail and it looks like waterproof material there. I can't find a photo online that will explain what I mean. But I think it's a pre-treated fabric and not a fabric they treated after making the cape.

Incidentally, if it was wax that could explain the lack of ironing on it.

Here is a list of places / people who can provide you with various items , including the cap .

Wax is a possibility, but you would need to ensure it didn't stay sticky or it won't move right. It looks like fabric that you'd use for waterproofed stuff in life. It isn't a shiny treatment, and I feel waxing would lose the drape unless you did more than that, like putting it in the dryer.

Heavily waxing like most Kylos do would overdo it. It needs to still remain light and not shiny.

BUT it could just be oiled or otherwise treated before construction so that it's slightly waterproof fabric.

Then again , we represent the Empire , and we scratch whoever's floor we want

But yeah , as Kman just said , you can get your boots fixed at a good shoe-store . I often wear my boots for 5 to 9 hours straight ( in some rare cases like Celebration ) and i don't see much wear and tear . Unless you're planning to wear them everyday there should be no problems as long as you polish them from times to times and / or use leather care products . I like to polish mine after each troop to allow the shoe polish to set down , and buff them before each troop in order to avoid shoe-polish stains on by breeches

I can't tell you for sure if it's a good thing or not , personally i though of buying those as well ( more like a repro of those , i'm not fond of half-rusted original pieces ) for a second pair a boots . They are fairly obvious when worn but as you suggested perhaps they'd be less obvious if painted black . Although , since you'll walk in them , the paint will come off pretty quickly .
I'd like to read someone else's answer on the subject .

I think they look great !

    They're leather boots , military type / Officers type , so it's perfect .

Now don't worry , there's very little chance those boots were worn by an Officer working in Auschwitz , they were probably never worn at all . Besides , the guy mentions they are not original WW2 era boots although they are from Germany . Original boots , worn or mint condition from WW2 with an original date stamp to prove they were made between 1939 and 1945 are usually worth nearly the double of those . My guess is those are just post-war army surplus from the 50's - 60's
People just love to sell things that are allegedly from WW2 era because the title is more catchy and Reenactors are always on the hunt for original pieces of equipment .

Well , i read the reviews first and everyone was telling that they sized very small , and since my previous gloves were size 8 , i thought size 7 would fit perfectly
But my size 8 gloves were women gloves , didn't really knew there was a difference in glove sizing . I did checked by measuring my hand in inches at the knuckles , and 7 seemed to be the right size . I'll try to send them back , i'll just have to expect snail mail return

Oh my , that is a good deal !
    One pair for each uniform

Why do man gloves always come in Medium and Large sizes ?
I just got my new pair of gloves , and even a Man size 7 is slightly too large ...

    Got them from http://www.leatherglovesonline.com/np/MensGloves-ByStyle-Police-Patrol-gloves-td301-ultra-thin-patrol-x-leather-gloves.htm#page=details
They're unlined and very soft , if they'd be a size smaller they'd properly feel like a second skin !

As Danielle mentioned , you'll have a lot more luck if you look for Police / Security gloves , some often come reinforced with kevlar and cut-resistant !
Here are your gloves , short and devoid of any lines !

I have ordered a pair of those last week they should arrive soon if FedEx is willing to move their posteriors . According to the review they are worth every penny but tend to come in small sizes , i will thus review them myself as i will be using them both for my Krennic costume and as replacements for my OT Admiral as well
I wasn't originally going to spend 50$ on a pair of gloves but it seems those were the only good quality gloves i could find that had sizes 7 and 8 , so ...

Agreed on hat, optional based on what we have for now. If that is him in the field.. ..I only see red rank bar, (am I missing the blue one?) and it makes me wonder if it's someone else? (Admittedly someone in almost same costume leading death troopers with same blaster rig seems unlikely, but...)
For short cape, man, I don't know. I guess all three (hat, rank, cape) will make a big step forward in solving when we can be sure it is Krennic. Or (for me) when I get some sorely-needed glasses.
I went hardcore spoiler-free on TFA, and now for RO I can't find enough, ha!

Oh, and I think it's only about 2 inches down from the join. For reference, the stitching on the joins is IMO three lines, 1/4" apart each, so about half an inch at the widest.
Remember this is hugely zoomed in. I literally used my telescopic lens that I used to get photos from the back of the auditorium in panels.

Yeah, my degree in history & costume design comes in handy sometimes. =P
I'm not sure you could use them as pockets easily. Remember, they open but you would put your hands from the inside to the outside... So where your pocket would be is on the outside of the cape.

The CRL can be inconsistent or incomplete when it comes to certain details , so there is stuff you end up learning by spending hours roaming around here , looking at the Executor and Imperator status requests . I think i can safely say that most of the things i learned regarding our lovely uniforms i learned by reading Phil's comments on the promotion board

I was proud to stand among all of you in London , particularly since the Officers are a rare view around here . I won't be missing another IOC photoshoot anytime soon

Hi, I'm the photographer who took that.

These are slits set into the cape. They looked functional to me, but I couldn't actually see through them. However if you notice the panel behind the slit changes size, meaning its likely the fabric was pulling slightly apart, meaning the slits are functional.

These slits are actually very common in 19th Century attire. They are essentially openings with a placket behind them so that drafts don't go through. It allows you to put your arms through the cape if you want to. My guess is that Krennic doesn't bother, but the option was given to them. Also, because its all the same material, I would surprised if you can see them easily.

I would also recommend against assuming what he wore at the Rogue One panel did not have these as that lighting was so harsh it changed the colour of his hair, the clothes, and would have made any imagery coming out of it blend the slits out of existence.

No way we give Legend Thrawn to the Flagship Eclipse , he stays ours

You might be right though James , it's probably a better thing to write a whole new CRL . We can partly base it on the current Kallus CRL except ask for a white tunic instead obviously . The rest will probably remain fairly similar to the regular Thrawn .

Mwell , we should either make it an optional requirement , or ask it straight away even for L1 , no in-betweenish requirement

It will take some dedication to make Krennic if we ask that ... Luckily i'm full of dedication
