Hawk reacted to MyKill in What do you wear underneath Imperial Staff Officer?
At first I just wore whatever SW T-shirt I'd worn to the troop, but since I got them back in February, I wear one of my IOC T-shirts from the run back in November 2015 exclusively. Best shirt ever!

Alright. First off this is going to be a work in progress tutorial. I would say that this is a intermediate level tutorial. You should know how the machine works and be confident that you can sew a straight line, and there is NOTHING wrong with getting some cheap fabric and making a mock up. I am going to upload it in stages. This is my first tutorial, so there are likely to be loads of questions and changes. I do ask that you let me finish it before asking., It should take me a few weeks.
The pattern I am using can be found at:
http://s268.photobucket.com/user/Hawk220/library/Officer%20Pattern%20ID
This pattern fits M-XL, (slight thin to slightly over weight) for anything else, the pattern will need to be modified.
You will need:
2 1/2 yards of Fabric at 52" wide
2 1/2 yards of Lining at 52" wide
4 yards of interfacing (I use 950F Shirtailor)
I will start this tutorial just after the pieces have been cut out. All seam allowances are 1/2 inch.

Spoiler alert. The CRL will say "white".

All Imperial Officers belong to the IOC. Anyone attempting the new cartoon version will have to help us create a new CRL.

A lot of people take this too seriously. Like WAY too seriously, because they play plastic spaceman WAY better than me! If it's raining, get under an umbrella. My Garrison is very relaxed with things like this, as long as the costume looks great. The point of this club is to promote Star Wars Costumes, and have fun. If you are worried, ask the EC if an umbrella is okay.

Hawk got a reaction from inquisitoriuspicnic in Names I've been called while Trooping...
We were in an Irish Day Parade, and my wife was marching with 2 other in CorSec (Green X-Wing) and they were walking with one of our clones, Wolffe to be exact, when some kid shouts "It's Captain Rex and the Space Pirates!!!"
At that moment, I decided if I ever have a band, that is going to be it's name.

No. My lovely wife went and lost a lot of weight, and I have to start over. That kind of put me at a stand still. As soon as I get more fabric and get back to this point, I'll pick this back up.

Hawk reacted to mwilsen in Sealing Leather Belts
Continue...
So in conclusion:
Here are the pros and cons I found for both the Leather Sheen and the Resolene:
LEATHER SHEEN
Pros:
1. Easily applied
2. No applicator required
Cons:
1. More expensive ($14.99)
2. Doesn't stop all dye bleeding
3. Doesn't waterproof as well
RESOLENE
Pros:
1. Cheaper ($7.99)
2. Waterproofs better
3. Stops almost all dye bleeding
Cons:
1. Must purchase seperate applicator
2. Harder to apply and more messy
In conclusion, Resolene seems to be the much better solution to seal leather belts. The finishes seemed to look the same after drying. Resolene waterproofs both the rough and smooth side better. The water droplets never seemed to absorb into the leather on either side and stayed pooled in a droplet. Unfortunatly the sample with the Leather Sheen absorbed the water almost immediately on the rough side. It also stopped almost all traces of dye bleeding after applied. There was still noticeable dye bleeding with the Leather Sheen. I will definatly be using the Resolene for any leather finishing or waterproofing needs.
*Special thanks to Kris for the Resolene suggestion*
I hope this will help anyone in anyway with similar questions or needs. Let me know if you have any questions.

FIVE TROOPS IN FIVE DAYS
Hello Officers, Crew, and Troopers! My name is Biscuit, ID-39999, of the Central California Garrison and the IOC Morale Officer. I want to share a journey with you, to raise my spirits and hopefully show the power of what we do. Two weeks after retiring, my Mom, Dawn Salisbury, was informed that she had irreversible colon cancer. After a year of suffering, she died on May 1st, 2011, five years ago. We also recently lost a comrade, John Salles, a police officer, Iraq war veteran, and sci-fi fanatic. I decided that I would try to honor them both with 5 troops in 5 straight days, centered around the 5th anniversary of my Mom's passing and John's funeral. I am about to attend troop 4 this morning, so I will update this afternoon. As a thank you to you all, every single troop i'm in an Officer uniform of some type. Please save comment after i have posted troop 5 OF 5. Thank you for joining me, my sci-fi fantasy family!

Hawk reacted to zeekaran in I'm official!
Not only am I official, but I got a local tailor to fix CosplaySky's screw up. They added 2.5 inches to my collar and they sewed it on crooked, shame on them.
I also finally joined my local garrison's forum and just in time, as there's a con this weekend.
In the eternal words of young Lord Vader, "Yippee!"

I sew my own, but I'm weird. WampaWear has superb products, and I highly recommend them.
