We were in an Irish Day Parade, and my wife was marching with 2 other in CorSec (Green X-Wing) and they were walking with one of our clones, Wolffe to be exact, when some kid shouts "It's Captain Rex and the Space Pirates!!!"

At that moment, I decided if I ever have a band, that is going to be it's name.

Alright. First off this is going to be a work in progress tutorial. I would say that this is a intermediate level tutorial. You should know how the machine works and be confident that you can sew a straight line, and there is NOTHING wrong with getting some cheap fabric and making a mock up. I am going to upload it in stages. This is my first tutorial, so there are likely to be loads of questions and changes. I do ask that you let me finish it before asking., It should take me a few weeks.

The pattern I am using can be found at:
    http://s268.photobucket.com/user/Hawk220/library/Officer%20Pattern%20ID
This pattern fits M-XL, (slight thin to slightly over weight) for anything else, the pattern will need to be modified.

    You will need:
2 1/2 yards of Fabric at 52" wide
2 1/2 yards of Lining at 52" wide
4 yards of interfacing (I use 950F Shirtailor)

I will start this tutorial just after the pieces have been cut out. All seam allowances are 1/2 inch.

Next, I layout and pin the sleeves. Since both sides are the same, I like laying them out next to each other so I don't make 2 left sleeves.

Just like with the back, I pin it with the right side of the fabric facing the right side of the fabric.

The best way to help a CRL see completion is to complete the costume for it. I encourage anyone who wishes to do a new-to-the-legion costume to go for it. And yes, fangs would be cool

I used a modified version of Kathy VanB's pattern. I spent the day with her going over patterns and fabric shopping. I would HIGHLY suggest downloading her officer .pdf, as it is made with this pattern in mind. Make sure the fabric you get is the same on both sides, and there isn't a right and wrong side. I am about 170lbs and I stand 6 foot tall. This is the pattern I used to make mine, and everything is 1/2" seam allowance. It is a tailored suit, and WILL need to be custom fit. Once you have the shell together, it is very easy to bring in the sides, shorten the shoulders. TAKE YOUR TIME! If you get stumped, ask.

And getting a new uniform may not be as expensive as you think.  If the only problem is the color of the uniform, then all you need is a new jacket and pants.  You can get those from Cosplaysky for $110.  Keep that in mind even if you try to dye the uniform.  In the event the dyeing doesn't work and ruins the uniform, you can get a replacement for a decent price.

Hawk got a reaction from Shockwave326 in The case of the mysterious PVC-Rubber boots
Okay... Without getting too technical, let's see if I can explain. I think these listings are wrong. The term "Rubber" is being used to classify certain synthetics. That is incorrect. Rubber is made from the saps of trees, mainly the rubber tree. It undergoes heavy refining to create rubber. PVC (PolyVinyl Chloride) is a plastic derivative. When you add plasticizers to PVC, it becomes flexible. I think most of those listing are using the term rubber when they mean plasticized PVC. It's easier to just say rubber in their listings.

As far as approvable, it all depends on how they look with the costume. I think for base approval, those would probably work. It would be a decent way to get in while you look for leather boots. No costume is ever done, I am constantly trying to improve mine, after all isn't that why we have levels?

But that is just my opinion. I have a very relaxed GML; I know some of them are very strict. Ultimately it comes down to how everything looks together.

That's what we get in the end.

    4. Polishing
The ideal variant with fine sandpaper grit (up to 1600).

So. The resulting first part of boxing we polish on all sides with sandpaper (and first movements "top-down" and then "left to right" and then again "top-down"). At the end do not forget to clean the box with a dry cloth.

    II. Rear side box

    1. The procedure is exactly the same. Perhaps only distinguish the size of the elements may become the rear part of the box: 65 mm, height 115 mm, and a thickness of 6 mm.

    2. Mounting the belt.
In fact, I chose the easiest way fasteners. I used a thin leather straps, securing them with screws on the nut.

The holes for the screws is usually performed with an awl. But try prodelyvat holes carefully, not to crush the back of the box.

    III. Bonding of both parts

It's simple. On the inside of the rear of the side portions Boxing couple fatty lines of glue, and then fasten it with the main part of boxing (it should overlap the lid on the box and sit almost perfectly), waiting for 7 seconds and you're done!

When transporting these boxes hurt if they hit just about anything. Or if you're taking them in a crowded bag. The ideal option package - wrap them in something soft.

So far I have been able to make only a vertical option boxes. I am currently working on a horizontal options.

I hope this information will be useful.

    Waiting for your comments!

I went with a similar style cap when I first started the costume, without doing enough research I couldn't see the problem. Whilst reasonably well made they're not very accurate. The peak is a little too long, the peak should really be more like an ellipse than a circle. The main part of this cap is cylindrical instead of conical.

It's taken me a while to find some of my early pics, believe me when I say I'm not proud of them, and cringe when I see them.

I worked with another lady, who sadly no longer produces custom caps to identify the differences between the inaccurate and onscreen cap.

As you can see my black cap sits too far back on the head, the proportions of the peak are wrong, and main shape of the cap was more cylindrical than conical.

Here's a pic of what we came up with.

This is my current cap (Museum Replicas, sadly discontinued)

This is the look you're aiming for
