Hard to say, I've aways been a fan of the villains in movies and fiction. The Empire, the Romulans, Jafar, Nilfgaard.

As others have said above, perhaps it's the 'break from reality' element. Where's the fun in playing a smiley goody-two-shoes when you can be a snarky, frowning bad guy all in good fun?

And it helps when you have Peter Cushing as the main representative of the Imperial Officers you see on screen!

For Warrant Officer, this is perhaps one of the best close-up pictures I've seen. It's very clear that he is not wearing gauntlet style gloves because those do not fit inside the sleeve, whereas in the movie reference below, we see the sleeve is actually over the glove. Basically, this supports your assertion that Warrant Officers in ROTJ wore the short gloves like Line Officers.

As far as I can tell most of them perhaps all of them were regular gloves and not gauntlets. There is only one guy where I am not sure what he is wearing because the reference looks like something in between. The warrant officer seems to be wearing longer gloves (red arrow) that flare out a little bit. But they do not look like the gauntlets the navy trooper is wearing (green arrow) because those flare out a lot more. He is definitively not wearing the short gloves the line officer is wearing (blue arrow).

Those gloves look like old fashioned motorcycle gloves. I know I have seen similar ones in old movies. I have found some similar ones on eBay. Unfortunately, I have not found the correct ones yet. Perhaps they are not available anymore.

OK Officers and Crew, we're looking for awesome, quality photos of IOC members in action at events to post on our Facebook page, so if you have one that you'd like to share, post it here. If possible, avoid posting photos with the general public in the background. You can have a bit of fun posting humorous photos, but keep it in good taste. Photos will be picked at random and posted on Facebook, and we'll try to pick photos that reflect the spirit of the Officer Corps. Please include a brief description of the event, TKIDs of the members, and Garrison info.

    Hi guys,

Since I was the one that created the first cadet costume and the crl it just feels appropriate I just give my opinion too.

The crl and costume I created was purely based on the Star wars Rebels series.

About the helmet, in my opinion there should be an alternative Cadet costume CRL where you can walk without helmet, I walk with the helmet under my arms a lot, and it works, especially cause I have a haircut that closely matches that of Ezra. But, I wouldn't change this crl, but instead make a new one and change the name of the Cadet crl to the imperial Cadet SW Rebels version and make a separate one for the comic version where you can even include the Thrawn option.
The helmet is pretty hard to come by because only Fiernock Base designs makes it now as far as I now, and it's sizes like a normale bucket and resin so it's not to heavy but not light either, also I had to make some small adjustments to make it 100/ screen Accurate.

There are also different Crl's for an animated bikerscout and a regular bikerscout to just give and example.

Apart from the above, I highly encourage the Cadet costume!

If you need new pictures for a new crl or for changes in this one, please let me know so I can supply them for you!

Would it be a good idea to give the warrant officers there own prefix number instead of the sharing the staff /line officer ID it might help generate interest the Rotj warrant officer has just been a optional on the staff officer  crl and doesn't really get noticed

    Greetings IOC,

I've been forwarded an email by the LMO, a request to submit and update some CRL's.  He's asked me to remind our members that there are proper channels to submit and update a CRL.

We have a CRL discussion forum to post and work through the CRL.  So please post your proposals, all very valid and well thought out BTW, to the CRL discussion area so we can make fast work of them.   Also, the attachments with the bulk of the work wouldn't open, please post them to the proper area as well.

We have published and edited more CRL's by any detachment ever this year, most of them went smoothly.  There have been a few bumps in the road but a CRL is a constantly changing document, always open for interpretation and improvement.   We don't want to revert to the days when the detachments had no say in how a CRL was worded or presented, but that could happen if some of the type of disruptions continue to occur out of the proper chain of progression.

Many may not know that our LMO team member stepped down due to attacks that occurred over the year by certain members.  That has to and will stop now...We will get no more assistance from the LMO team if some of our members can't post in a civil manner.

We don't want to loose our reputation as one of the friendliest detachments in the Legion and I hope that any of the members that may have "rocked the boat" a bit this year, didn't do it with the specific intention to cause friction in our detachment...that will not be acceptable.

I'm not calling anyone out specifically, but making this statement to encourage all the loyal members to call out any negativity as they see it.

Let's keep our detachment and the 501st fun.

    Thanks everyone,
    Mark Ryner/ID-4584

I had a quick look at the new starwars on the front line book in the battle of endor it has a black uniformed officer it states that he is a major which is a commissioned rank a officer A warrant officer isn't a commissioned rank in the British army it's a Sargent major a senior older experienced solider who as moved up the ranks maybe the Rotj warrant officer should change to Rotj staff officer then the new anh warrant officer crl can just be the jack boot straight leg version

If I understand this correctly you think that all black uniforms in ANH are the Fahrenheit 451 uniforms. That is not the case. The ranked officers are wearing the 451 uniforms and the warrant officers might or might not be wearing them, we can't be sure due to bad reference pictures, but I can assure you that the navy troopers that wear tunics are not wearing the Fahrenheit 451 version. On page 21 of the book Star Wars Costumes The Original Trilogy it says that New York police tunics were used for the imperial guards, which we know as navy troopers in dress uniform. If you look at the research done by TK1066 and me, you can see that the statement of book is correct. I researched the navy troopers in ANH because I thought that the warrant officers in ANH are just navy troopers with a hat instead of the helmet.

Found him.  Very clearly has straight pants and jackboots and gauntlet gloves.  It is not clear the cut of the tunic.  Maybe someone can play with the pic saturation level to see if we can get better detail?
