Absolutely! As an officer I can function as an Imperial Support Crew but in costume. I can manage crowds to protect my armored companions, I can assist them to navigate areas because I understand what their vision is like, and I can interact with the crowds freely. But like Kris said, I am an Officer of the Empire when I wear it. I'm not a stage hand. I can maneuver and crouch to talk to kids on their level and get them excited about flying Star Destroyers, deploying hundreds of troopers, deploying TIEs, bearing dozens of walkers, and commanding the fleet to travel the Galaxy, as well as meeting members of my crew. In fact, in many of our Children's Hospital visits, I'm the preferred member the kids want to interact with because I'm not in armor or a bucket. They can warm up to me and allow me to introduce them to the visitors I brought with me. But if they get scared they want me to stand by their side.

So embrace the Officer!!

See now my response to that would be im an Officer of the empire I do not take photos and then id have them arrested by my troops, don't just wear the costume become the costume

I don't have my ID finished yet (soon!), but I can share my thinking on the matter.
 
I mostly prefer my TK.  It just gets a much more noticeable reaction.  And nearly every troop when I've been trooping as a TK with some officers nearby, there's been times that the officer has been handed a camera and asked to take pictures of me with the person!  Clearly there is a fan favorite.
 
OTOH, I do feel officers contribute to the feel of the event (obviously, else I wouldn't be bothering to put one together!).  And some days you just don't want to put on that stifling armor, especially on high heat days!
 
And finally, for longer, extended events, it's nice to have something to change into, where you can continue trooping in more comfort.  Particularly Cons: Troop for a few hours as a TK, and then switch to the ID for the duration, so you can actually SEE the Con, and interact a bit more, while still in a legit costume.

Hi there. I apologise if this question has been asked before, but I am keen to get this right and would greatly welcome any advice you have.
 
I am in the process of putting together a uniform for an application to the 501st, and I am keen to get details right. There is one aspect that is troubling me. I notice that requirements for the 501st authentication requires a single row of rank tiles. I have looked high and low for an accurate reference guide to single row ranks, and there are none, or those that exist are different from one another. I would imagine that they follow an Army rank structure, and ideally I would like to use the rank of Major, but have not been able to find an accurate reference for a single row of tiles to indicate Major. Is there such a guide, and are the ranks of the staff officers (which I assume are officers of the stormtrooper corps) the same as that of the army? If not, is there an accurate rank guide for staff officers out there?
 
Any advice on this matter would be happily received. Thanks in advance.

I was very pleased with the belt boxes, these have definitely helped elevate standards. Belt boxes are now a lot more popular than they used to be.

This was an awesome kick off and where I got the idea. My commemoration tour started in the northernmost troop I could get to, Sacramento Zoo, for their Star Wars Day. "There are 43 troopers, mando, and rebels going! We must represent South Valley Squad!" so Izzy, Alptraum, and myself loaded up at 4:30 AM Saturday Morning, arriving at nine for the news crew and kids!

As the title says. I'm looking for members who are of bigger statue. I stand at 6 foot 320lbs. My question is where did you get your uniform at. I see places asking 500+ but then I see others like cosplayssky that charge 99+ 30 for a custom size. Being a single parent means I'm not a rich man. I've been saving for quite some time but want to keep cost at minimal. I have seen others mention sewing a uniform. I have some knowledge in sewing but would definitely need some help making my own uniform which I have (thanks mom). So I guess as a fat guy I need the opinion of other presently plump officers (no offence) to guide me with their uniform experiance.

To put an end to it at my workplace I wore my TK to do a half marathon run for charity, supported by the company. I kitted up in the disabled toilet... to a big reveal! Everyone THEN wanted photos... even the Chief Executive holding my blaster! People now understand, especially as they saw the pinch marks on my skin after the run... in full kit. When TFA was out a lot of people genuinely asked where I was heading and which charities I was supporting so I guess now they understand the connection....
