As the ISB is one of my favourites, and Kris knows that, I'm very happy to hear that

Cleaning up the existing ISB CRL is better than nothing. Is there a reason the ISB CRL cannot be split up into two CRLs? I am having a difficult time understanding why it is better to clean up the mess by reworking the exciting one instead of making two new ones especially if Steven and I already did some work on that. Personally, I think having two ISB CRLs would make it easier to understand for newbies and people that do not speak English as a native language. I really do not want to be a pain in the neck; I just want to understand the reasoning behind the process. I have been a member of this Forum since 2014 and some things do not make sense to me.

    I like Exaldear's idea too.

Oh I was picturing those headers as links themselves that open up to the CRL lists.  I see now what you meant.  I like it more now.

I'm throwing this out there to see what others think of a library overhaul and revamp of IOC CRLs. This is in light of 1) some people wanting more CRLs. 2) making them easier to understand. 3) fixing the clutter in some, especially with the variations on a costume.

Let's start with the ISB as a key example of what the hell were we thinking. Along comes a new costume, with a new film, and we as a detachment lump it in with a previous CRL and in my opinion make the CRL a disaster to read and understand. You have variations that work with some parts and not others, this goes with that but only if this part is there.

Next on the list is the fleet trooper/navy trooper. Some people suggested liking in the new information with the old and creating the same hot mess. As one member pointed out, each variation in each film is different, sometimes by a lot.

My proposition is to split the library into groups with each group having links to each different CRL. Note that minor differences can be added to a CRL say belts having a seam or not, but anything major could require a new CRL such as multiple differences say belt and armour or armour and boots.

    Planned proposal.

    Grand Admiral Thrawn (Legend)

I don't know enough about the uniform to give ideas

    First Order

    General Hux (TFA)
    General (TFA)
    Major (TFA)
    Captain (TLJ)
    Commander Hask (BF2)
    Commander (TFA)
    FOSB (TLJ)

It's a big example, it's certainly not complete. Some CRLs would need to be rewritten, but it could make it easier in the end. As new variations arise we can either sort them or if minor adjust a CRL

Yes, all the Navy Troopers that I refer are the Dress uniform version. So, just to resume if I don't misunderstand you, we will have:
ANH Staff Officer (current) ESB/RotJ/R1/SOLO Staff Officer (updated) ANH Warrant Officer/Navy Trooper Dress uniform (new) ESB/RotJ Warrant Officer (updated) R1 Navy Trooper Dress uniform ESB/RotJ Navy Trooper Dress uniform SOLO Navy Trooper Dress uniform

SOLO just had its premiere and as there are no Staff Officers seen very close on screen there is no necessity to add anything SOLO-special to this CRL draft. If anyone spotted something different please let us know in this thread.

Edit: thanks to the VD we now have the visual proof that Krennic style riding Boots with the strap were used.

That's why I would like to give this CRL proposal another try.

I hope we can finally make this a new CRL and bring more order and accuracy to our uniform standards.

    Have a nice day!

I do not think this is a good idea. The tunics of the ISB ANH and ISB R1 are two completely different tunics. They should have never been put in the same CRL in the first place. I thought CRLs should be simple so that newbies and non-native English speakers can understand them. We should use the opportunity that the new CRL format give use to split up the ISB CRL in an ISB ANH CRL and an ISB R1 CRL.

I agree.  Although I couldn't find anything beyond that scene.

Oddly, there are LOTS of scenes that show a lot of officers.  No officer seems to EVER wear a blaster, other than Hux in that one scene. Except the FOSB guy, who is always armed, and the disguised Rebels (which didn't raise an eyebrow?).  And of course Stormtroopers.  But no other officers or support staff.  No one on the bridge or wandering around the ship wears a blaster, not even when the ship is in battle.  Which sort of makes sense.  And even more significantly, Hux, his XO, and other officer types on the shuttle with Kylo that goes down to Crait (the red planet) in an obvious battle situation?  Still no blasters!  Yet Hux randomly wears a blaster in that ONE scene.

Ugh.  I hate inconsistency.  (and I'm not a TLJ hater)

I think it should be optional due to the fact that we cannot see Inspector General Bozedem Jeems hands on page 147 of in the Star Wars Rogue One - The Unltimate Visual Guide and the only scene were we can see the gloves is only in the trailer or teaser and never made it into the movie.

I don't want to get off topic, but since there were references to ESB line officer gloves, which I've been researching for my costume build, I thought I'd share these references I found, which show that Needa and Ozzel do have 3 stitches, and they aren't the super short gloves some of the other officers seem to be wearing.

    Ozzel gloves

It took some very careful frame by frame viewing to catch these, since lighting and motion blur often completely hide the lines.

For comparison, here's one of Piett. I know it's blurry, but I think it's still fairly clear that his gloves are shorter.

PArmstr reacted to KDKdesign in VIDEO: How to Underline Tunic & Benefits - plus how to use fabric as Interfacing
Hi Everyone - I want to talk to you guys about Underlining - you may have never heard of it before - but it is a basic tailoring method to add body to your suit jacket and also serves as a base layer for hand-sewing your hem and sewing down the seam allowances so they lay flt. Basically, you cut all of your pattern pieces out of your main/fashion fabric and then another set out of the fabric you want to underline it them, like a cotton broadcloth or a canvas for a thicker interfaced areas - and then pin the matching pattern pieces together and zigzag the edges to make them one unified piece. This helps thicken your main fabric if it's a bit on the thin side or stabilize it if it has un-needed stretch to it. In the video I show how I underline my officer tunics, the benefits of underlining and tips for using fabric as interfacing too. Any questions, please let me know! thanks

And here's some picture of underlining in my tunic:

And if you're interested in commissioning me for this or another officer tunic ( I can make them all) - here's my post with more info - thanks again

So, what your saying, makeup aside, is that they are different. Therefore cannot be lumped together in one document.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm just curious what would be acceptable for basic level approval. I can modify an existing ISB tunic by adding code cylinder pockets. Here's a shot I posted earlier with the rest of the Inferno Squad

The guy Mac and I are talking about is just an officer that wears a helmet. He would not fit into the other thread because the R1 IN in dress uniform has a completely different tunic and boots. They look more like the ones in ANH.
